BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

'We Raphaelites' SS14 Edward Curtis’s Spring Summer 2014 Collection is about the collision of simplicity and maximalism. Comparing today’s modern mood with historical painters of the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood was a key dialogue for this collection. The state of wonder and tranquillity in pre-Raphaelite paintings of everyday people in seen in ‘The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams’ by Allessandra Sanguinetti were compared, contrasted and collaged with the art works of Bruce Ingram. Via a process of haphazard experiments, using illustration, manufacture, finish, drape work and fittings as creative catalysts, Edward refined his unusual finds into a contemporary summer collection of 12 intense looks. Using a free hand expressive illustration style, Edward closely studied his random, varying sized drawing lines forms, textures and finishes to explore and use as design tools. The juxtaposition of clean graphic paints with rough mark making and powdery organic chalk smudges, guided Edwards pattern cutting, choices of colours, fabrics and prints. Unsatisfied with the regularity of most manufacturing details, Edward incorporated different techniques such as faggoting for seams, rolls of fabric for exaggerated shapes and decoration, duel net sandwiched rouleau’s that become new fastenings at the neck and wrist either hanging like marshmallow meters or tied into chic, sculptured bows. The silhouettes are dedicated to a free, micro sexy hemline and mix between a softer, looser hourglass form and a wide, curved, neck to wrist silhouette. Short midi tops fall lower to the front and sensually, provocatively curve the contour lines revealing the lower back arch. Sashes and ties languidly grow from garments either draping to the floor or fetishticly and organically moulding the body. The illustration mark makings are turned into prints, that appear to be just strewn, arbitrary over garments and even panties. Panties under dresses that you are intentionally given glimpses of. This is a collection of personal passion and artistic freedom. Through the naivety of play and euphoria, the tranquillity of posture and grace of gesture and raw expressive lines comes a masterfully controlled, elegant and thoroughly modern collection. These are eye-catching fashion statements, bold, confident and sexy pieces to play in, designed to create striking silhouettes when posing! BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. K, [HyungTae Kim]. SS 14 - ON THE RUN at BRIGHTON FASHION WEEK. 8 LOOKS Coming more soon. . E-MAIL klothing@hotmail.com "A/W 2013 Generation." A/w 2013 "The idea of K A/w 13 collection is to explore the sensitive relationship between youth-cultures and parental culture." My concept is to look at the contrasts between the themes of 'Father/Tradition, Youth/rebellious and Uniform/War. What inspired me were the memory and feelings I had when I was an adolescent boy. The memory of trying my Father's clothes is unforgettable. What remains deep inside of me is the feeling of warmth and comfort. To more accurately describe, it was like wearing a very warm blanket in a very cold and lonely winter. This feelings got stronger when I was trying his military jacket. I wanted to deliver that feeling of warmness of oversized khaki fabrics whilst having the adolescent boy's rebelliousness attitude that I had as I grow up, as his jacket getting smaller."Hyung tae Kim’s was also great – it was a very good season.” Backpacks featured strongly in a great deal of collections, particularly in Kim’s who presented low-slung oversized backpacks combined with large, long coats that looked reminiscent of ‘typical’ father’s clothing but with a younger fresher vibe" - Hilary Alexander Academic London College of Fashion 2009 -2012 BA(Hons) FDT Menswear FT Northumbria University 2006-2009 BA(Hons)FDT Fashion Design Foundation Degree Work Experience Reworked [london] 2009 - 2011 [VINTAGE, ARMY CLOTHE REWORKED SHOP] ASSIATANT Diorasa 2007-2008 [Tailor shop] TAILOR ASSISTANT Press: http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/fashion/catwalk/AW2012/ReadyToWear/london/london_college_of_fashion_-_ba/full-length-photos -http://www.gomoneyways.com/?p=65953 -http://jaci-mag.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/untitled-ss-2013-mens-collection-acne.html -http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2012/live/ -http://disordermagazine.com/lcfs-upcoming-talent/style/ -http://www.flickr.com/photos/53179772@N06/7490122378/ -http://fashionstyleology.com/hyung-tae-kim-k-aw-2013-lcf-ba-show/ -http://blogs.fashion.arts.ac.uk/snapshot/2012/06/29/last-night-in-shoreditch/ -http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html -http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/25 - http://www.catwalking.com/ -http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2012/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/page/7# -http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ Contact. Copyright © 2013 Sarah Mazza http://www.notjustalabel.com/sarah_mazza https://www.facebook.com/SarahMazzaKnitwear ___Summary___ A Spring/Summer collection for 2014 for high end womens wear market, exploring the idea of body tattoos being an object of art and its importance relative to different religious beliefs, tribal ceremonies and how this has a strong relation to modern society and its subcultures. ___More information on the concept___ The tattoo world is vast with much information about its culture and this has influenced many artists of our present days. As a way of inspiring this collection, various tattoo design ideas have been explored while looking at the different cultures. Philippine Island tattoos seem to be part of the biggest focuses relating to knit design itself. Some of the trading products originated from this country were fine fabrics made by women with a variety of materials. Interestingly the same patterns were also found on the Philippine women’s tattooed hands. These tattoos as the fine fabrics details must have been rather delicate and this has been reflected into the collection. The overall idea of this project is to bring to light and to show the tattoo like pattern by transposing the concept into knitted fabric. To create this concept into the shape and silhouette of the garments it is was crucial to keep it fairly simple as the texture will bring most of the slick and elegant look . Tight fitting clothing is to resemble the way the tattoo is being worn on the body (almost like a second skin effect). Looking at some of the Philippine people we can identify a recurring theme of curved lines near the shoulders where it creates a unique effect of clothing seams However taking into account the body tattoo placements there was a lot of playing round with arm holes in the collection garments which relates to tattoo sleeve placements. Among the designs, the knit is see-through to show the skin beneath, ____About Sarah____ Sarah Mazza is a French designer based in Luton. From a young Sarah always wanted to do something creative. Having studied Textiles at A-Level, her passion for the fashion industry and knitwear in particular was born. Noticing a talent in her, her tutor taught her to knit outside of class and from then on she was hooked, taking every possible chance to practice and improve in her spare time. After gaining a place on the prestigious course at LCF, where she explored multiple textile techniques including embroidery and print, she decided to focus purely on her first passion. She love the way in which she can create her own fabric, shape and make it as individual as it can be. She has always liked using unusual materials and prefer to challenge herself by staying away from conventional wool. Sarah’s knit includes feminine and elegant hand crafted knit that is hand dyed and hand stitched together. Sarah was awarded the Knitwear Award on Fashion156.com in Graduate Showcase Week for BA13 Press Show. ___________________Languages________________ Fluent in French and English _______________PRESS_______________ http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/spring-summer-2014/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/full-length-photos/gallery/1004248 http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2013/09/09/a-glittering-gala-for-the-future-of-fashion/ http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2013/07/29/class-of-2013-sarah-mazza/ http://www.thestylelane.com/#/lcf13-runway-show/4577776766 http://www.mydaily.co.uk/2013/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show-2013_n_3532173.html http://www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/f156-graduate-showcase-week-sarah-mazza/ http://www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/f156-graduate-showcase-week-awards/ http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2013/07/19/fashion156-com-report-on-graduate-season-2013/ http://www.logos.info/en/news/sarah-mazza/ http://www.ameliasmagazine.com/fashion/london-college-of-fashion-ba-hons-graduate-catwalk-show-2013-review/2013/07/22/ http://www.apimages.com/metadata/Index/Britain-London-College-of-Fashion-BA-Show/84cceb40738741349519182b8e7d0dcf/28/0 http://www.ohdearism.com/2013/04/13/style-sarah-mazza-lcf-ba-collection/ http://janemarlestylist.tumblr.com/post/51740727194/http-www-joomag-com-magazine-frow-magazine-issue http://www.joomag.com/magazine/frow-magazine-issue-1-2013/0389006001368895868 http://www.flickr.com/photos/eliz_pica/8754598523/in/photostream/ http://issuu.com/london_college_of_fashion/docs/sdt-annual-2013 http://ashleighbrowntextiledesign.tumblr.com/search/sarah+mazza http://www.fibre2fashion.com/news/fashion-educational-institute-news/newsdetails.aspx?news_id=148962 http://newfashions956.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/sarah-mazza-ba-hons-fashion-design.html http://laspola.com/news.asp?id_news=4393&lingua=ITA _________________CREDIT___________________ ___BFC 2013 ___ Sarah Mazza, Photographer, James Rees www.jamesrees.co.uk Creative Direction, Rob Phillips Beauty, Pace Chen, Melissa Wong Nail Art, Lauren Michelle Pires Model, Sarah Dick at Models 1 http://www.models1.co.uk/ ___LOOK BOOK Shoot___ sarah mazza photographer, Josh Chow Hair and MakeUp, Naoko Mabuchi Model, Ayesha Tan-Jones. ___BEAUTY EDITORIAL___ Photography, Polin Kuprine Styling, Jane Marle Hair and Makeup, Louise Linder.

BA (Hons) Technical Effects for Performance

Highly driven and excited by anything physical and practical based in technical effects. I have developed a keen interest in and an aptitude for sculpting, and have also gained good experience in and further interests for fabrication, mould making, life casting and finishing in my time on this course. My work is inspired by anything macabre and also the human, animal or creature forms. Wearable pieces, special effects, props, puppetry and art based sculpture are all areas I enjoy working in. I have also gained valuable work experience in both theatrical and film settings.

BA (Hons) Fashion Contour

| ABOUT | Lingerie specialist with a focus on design and branding. Graduating with strong market and branding knowledge, a creative design style and technical product understanding, I am able to bring these elements together to create directional concepts. I aim to offer the consumer underwear that she can engage with as she does her outerwear and has a fashionable approach, challenging traditional lingerie styles. My aesthetic is subtle yet innovative – a focus on impactful silhouettes with intricate detailing, using a combination of sheer and opaque fabrics to create a balance between the body and garment. Varied experience and education within the product specialism allows me to transcend seamlessly between a commercial outlook, luxury positioning and couture style to bring a unique creativity to lingerie. | GRADUATE COLLECTION | The collection is inspired by Tereza’s character in the novel ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ by Milan Kundera. The range tells the story of her moments of ‘lightness’ and ‘weight’ through use of fabric, silhouette and colour. Resin castings grow out from seam lines that alter the body’s silhouette, exploring the answer to Tereza’s question, “if various parts of her body began to grow and shrink and [she] no longer looked like herself, would she still be Tereza?”. | LCF BA SHOW 2013 COLLABORATION | Winner of the Innovation Award for the collaborative collection with Rebecca Morter and Helena Dillon. Design concepts from the graduate collection were reinterpreted using laser cut Perspex and a dense gridded quilting. Finished in all black with visible zips the pieces have a striking and powerful look. | IMAGES | 1,3 (LCF BA Show 2013) Womenswear and Millinery by Rebecca Morter

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

>>OLIVIA HOWICK Olivia Howick is a Surface Textiles for Fashion graduate specializing in embroidery and embellishment, with a passion for transforming unexpected materials into luxurious fashion embellishment. Her graduate collection: ‘Medicate Me’ is a high-end ready to wear womenswear collection, that demonstrates the collision of contemporary and traditional approaches to medicine, through the exploration of Native American culture and advances in scientific medicine. The collection draws upon a textile tradition, and transforms it to demonstrate a clinical aesthetic which will appeal to the contemporary consumer. Exploration of new materials, in particular the use of PVC, has allowed for highly creative and innovative textile development through embroidery processes, that reflect on traditional craftsmanship, whilst evoking a clinical and medicinal aesthetic. Transforming materials is becoming an increasingly important aspect of Olivia’s work. This collection saw PVC hose pipes cut, dyed and stitched to become PVC beadwork. Combining this with satin stitch work and screen printed fabric, Olivia likes to work with both traditional aspects to textile design as well more unconventional material. Integral to Olivia’s practice is her illustration and drawing. Specializing in highly detailed hand rendered work, her illustration style is graphic, yet rich in textile inspired texture and detail. RENLISU 14SS

MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear

The main discussion in this project is “ The inability of humans to stay still.” I wanted to express a concept about returning to one’s original nature, looking at nomads, their life and the nature power of making clothes from a new angle, with an idea about time and memory. The nomadic life style, especially in Central Asia, is one focus in my research. Nomads’ everyday dress, accessories and daily essentials, the places they live and their hand-weaving technique also work as design references in this project. “Time & Memory” went through the collection construction. This idea is shown mainly through the manufacturing methodology in the project. Edges of the fabrics were loosed naturally during the manufacturing process. The seaming methodology is complex. I needed to use hand stitching in the whole collection in order to present the natural power of making clothes. Traces of machines are not seen in the project. Fringes were created in some parts of the seams on the garments. Yarn-dyed woven fabrics are important materials in the project and an organic colour scheme is used to emphasize the concept Contact: info@renlisu.com http://renlisu.tumblr.com/ http://www.renlisu.com/ Image Credit/ Photographer/ Raymond Tan ------------------------------------- 14SS Image Credit/ Photographer/ Mariona Vilaros Make up/ Mai Kodama Hair/ Ami Fujita Set designer/ Lora Avedian Models/ Ena C&Akvile @ First

Sole A

MA Fashion Footwear

‘Conjoined Illusion’ The footwear collection ‘Conjoined Illusion’ is based on reflection, mirroring, visual illusions and conjoined twins. Every pair of shoes consists of four carbon fibre soles that are connected, conjoined in different ways. The idea of reflection, mirroring and optical illusions can be seen in the design of the uppers respectively in the design of the heels/platforms. Visual illusions and mirroring are arduously to understand for our brain. Our cognitive faculty gets irritated. If we look at objects from different perspectives they seem to change their shape, but they are still the same. The intention behind the designs is to somehow confuse, or disturb, or grasp the spectator for a long time. With my work I want to challenge the eyes and the mind. The collection ‘Conjoined Illusion’ shows that footwear can be a work of art but nevertheless conveys clearly the grace of a shoe. Carolin Holzhuber | Footwear Designer http://carolin.holzhuber.at
