BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

Ocansey Bianchi is a Fashion Forward lifestyle brand, which focuses on challenging the concept of Tradition, Tailoring and Body Armour, resulting in a new unconventional approach to luxury Sportswear. The London Based Fashion Designer strongly believes that clothing should adapt on a journey with the wearer, encouraging and embracing different emotions and feelings, which one may embark on throughout the day. Thus resulting in the garment no longer being seen just as a garment, but instead becoming one with the wearer and embodying the form of a second skin. Other experience which Daniela has gained includes; Roksanda Ilincic, Giles Deacon, Rah Productions, Tata Naka, Armani Exchange, Pierre Garroudi, BBC and Blink Productions

Tool Nº3

MA Fashion Artefact

The project D a r s a n explores the role of marking tools in tracing reminiscences and examines the inborn manner of recollection. It seeks to experiment with natural charcoal drawing/marking processes, following and exploring the historical cave drawing methods. The results are a series of flowing, dream-like marking tools for recollections, which were used to make traces, marks and imprints on garments and transport the viewer and wearer into the imaginary of filmed reality. My project was done in collaboration with a sculptor Jamie Miranda.
We took an approach that utilized a system of conceptualization and design, and instead of developing tools, we discovered them.
We spent days on the shores of South America’s Pacific Ocean searching for driftwood that in its natural state would be the ideal foundation and base for our objects. Blurring the line between art and fashion, tools and garments brought to the existence the original interpretation of the ritual for the human- made drawing tools.
The marking tools are designed to give a dose of emotion, to fill the fashion object and give a new perspective for looking at them. I believe that the project proposes and provides a tangible experience of the newly proclaimed technological present whose intention was
to stimulate debate and reflections on the fragility of the relationship between human and nature.

I try to always relate my projects to social or political events to gain a greater knowledge of current culture and media. My tone is sarcastic yet playful and aesthetic is relaxed and casual with a hint of fetishised sensuality. My aim is to create conceptual collections that raise awareness for social issues that lie within popular culture, while poking fun at the way we as a society choose to handle them.

___________________________ MA FDT Menswear (2014) - Insecurity : chromatic theories in cut and silhouette. - This project is aimed to explore the under-spoken side of fashion by discovering within myself what evokes my silence and insecurity. By this means, colours, silhouettes while being able to balance a rational difference between both colour and form. It is as well aimed to apply an original approach in pattern cutting methodology combining with the eye for colour of myself in order to set the points for my expedition and eventually strengthen my ability to free myself from bonds of addiction and despair as well as my sense of connection with the wholeness of life and well-being. The concept is based on the experience when I was in adolescence; not being able to fit into the surrounding and not willing to show the difference is a sign of insecurity. As our deepest an innermost thoughts that we dare not share with others can often be released through the medium of art, just like writing a letter to ourselves that is for our eyes only releases our pent-up emotions.(J. McLEOD, pg.115) To understand and overcome the fear of confrontation and expression, it started with a self written poem in experience that recall moments of sentiment. To incorporate the concept into designing a collection, senses like hearing and seeing versus positive and negative space that relate to pattern cutting methodologies will be a major part of the development of form and silhouette. _________________ BA (Hons) FDT Menswear (2012) - MUTED ADOLESCENCE - HERA\WAN 2012 Autumn Winter menswear collection 'Muted Adolescence' is inspired by the innocence and subtle suppression of childhood in the early 1900s. The collection featured attentively screen printed spots, muted colour digital printed argyle pattern and unconventional application of straps and ribbons. The collection is tied together and elevated by the colour combinations and childlike proportion. __________ About the designer... Designer Hera Wan recently completed her MA in Fashion Design and Technology Menswear at London College of Fashion where she previously obtained her BA qualification in 2012. During her BA study, she worked at the Amsterdam based fashion house of 'Viktor & Rolf' as a menswear design assistant for three months.
