FdA Fashion Styling and Photography

I have a keen interest in practices that comprise of creativity and forming concepts, while including social and environmental consideration. Throughout my life, I have transitioned from a ‘dedicated church attender to a completely new ideology of ‘free thinking’. This has led to me incorporating both lifestyles into my styling i.e. experimenting with tailored and casual looks, with a hint of sex appeal. In a way, it also describes me as an individual – a constant battle with conformity. Lastly, aside from fashion, art has widened my creativity and theoretical understanding. Previously I was nervous about my place in the ‘art world’ and I have now adopted a new perspective. I feel that working with fashion and photography is ideal and makes use of my other skills i.e. painting, illustrations, poetry. I am most happy when working artistically, as I feel I am in exactly the right place at the right time – alongside a rack of clothes and shoes and a table of accessories. Copyright © 2014 Sarah Mazza http://www.notjustalabel.com/sarah_mazza https://www.facebook.com/SarahMazzaKnitwear ___Summary___ A Spring/Summer collection for 2014 for high end womens wear market, exploring the idea of body tattoos being an object of art and its importance relative to different religious beliefs, tribal ceremonies and how this has a strong relation to modern society and its subcultures. ___More information on the concept___ The tattoo world is vast with much information about its culture and this has influenced many artists of our present days. As a way of inspiring this collection, various tattoo design ideas have been explored while looking at the different cultures. Philippine Island tattoos seem to be part of the biggest focuses relating to knit design itself. Some of the trading products originated from this country were fine fabrics made by women with a variety of materials. Interestingly the same patterns were also found on the Philippine women’s tattooed hands. These tattoos as the fine fabrics details must have been rather delicate and this has been reflected into the collection. The overall idea of this project is to bring to light and to show the tattoo like pattern by transposing the concept into knitted fabric. To create this concept into the shape and silhouette of the garments it is was crucial to keep it fairly simple as the texture will bring most of the slick and elegant look . Tight fitting clothing is to resemble the way the tattoo is being worn on the body (almost like a second skin effect). Looking at some of the Philippine people we can identify a recurring theme of curved lines near the shoulders where it creates a unique effect of clothing seams However taking into account the body tattoo placements there was a lot of playing round with arm holes in the collection garments which relates to tattoo sleeve placements. Among the designs, the knit is see-through to show the skin beneath, ____About Sarah____ Sarah Mazza is a French designer based in Luton. From a young Sarah always wanted to do something creative. Having studied Textiles at A-Level, her passion for the fashion industry and knitwear in particular was born. Noticing a talent in her, her tutor taught her to knit outside of class and from then on she was hooked, taking every possible chance to practice and improve in her spare time. After gaining a place on the prestigious course at LCF, where she explored multiple textile techniques including embroidery and print, she decided to focus purely on her first passion. She love the way in which she can create her own fabric, shape and make it as individual as it can be. She has always liked using unusual materials and prefer to challenge herself by staying away from conventional wool. Sarah’s knit includes feminine and elegant hand crafted knit that is hand dyed and hand stitched together. Sarah was awarded the Knitwear Award on Fashion156.com in Graduate Showcase Week for BA13 Press Show. ___________________Languages________________ Fluent in French and English _______________PRESS_______________ Featured on Home Page of NOT JUST A LABEL , http://www.notjustalabel.com http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/spring-summer-2014/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/full-length-photos/gallery/1004248 http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2013/09/09/a-glittering-gala-for-the-future-of-fashion/ http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2013/07/29/class-of-2013-sarah-mazza/ http://www.thestylelane.com/#/lcf13-runway-show/4577776766 http://www.mydaily.co.uk/2013/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show-2013_n_3532173.html http://www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/f156-graduate-showcase-week-sarah-mazza/ http://www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/f156-graduate-showcase-week-awards/ http://blogs.arts.ac.uk/fashion/2013/07/19/fashion156-com-report-on-graduate-season-2013/ http://www.logos.info/en/news/sarah-mazza/ http://www.ameliasmagazine.com/fashion/london-college-of-fashion-ba-hons-graduate-catwalk-show-2013-review/2013/07/22/ http://www.apimages.com/metadata/Index/Britain-London-College-of-Fashion-BA-Show/84cceb40738741349519182b8e7d0dcf/28/0 http://www.ohdearism.com/2013/04/13/style-sarah-mazza-lcf-ba-collection/ http://janemarlestylist.tumblr.com/post/51740727194/http-www-joomag-com-magazine-frow-magazine-issue http://www.joomag.com/magazine/frow-magazine-issue-1-2013/0389006001368895868 http://www.flickr.com/photos/eliz_pica/8754598523/in/photostream/ http://issuu.com/london_college_of_fashion/docs/sdt-annual-2013 http://ashleighbrowntextiledesign.tumblr.com/search/sarah+mazza http://www.fibre2fashion.com/news/fashion-educational-institute-news/newsdetails.aspx?news_id=148962 http://newfashions956.blogspot.co.uk/2013/10/sarah-mazza-ba-hons-fashion-design.html http://laspola.com/news.asp?id_news=4393&lingua=ITA Featured on Home Page of NOT JUST A LABEL , http://www.notjustalabel.com http://www.maglifico.com/sarah_mazza _________________CREDIT___________________ ___BFC 2013 ___ Sarah Mazza, Photographer, James Rees www.jamesrees.co.uk Creative Direction, Rob Phillips Beauty, Pace Chen, Melissa Wong Nail Art, Lauren Michelle Pires Model, Sarah Dick at Models 1 http://www.models1.co.uk/ ___LOOK BOOK Shoot___ sarah mazza photographer, Josh Chow Hair and MakeUp, Naoko Mabuchi Model, Ayesha Tan-Jones. ___BEAUTY EDITORIAL___ Photography, Polin Kuprine Styling, Jane Marle Hair and Makeup, Louise Linder.

Biological Transformation & The Visually Impaired.

MA Fashion Footwear

Sophia Susassi | Footwear Designer & Range Developer Email | sophiasusassi@gmail.com Linked In | Sophia Susassi Sophia became a unique designer due to a wide range of experiences and influences. She has been actively involved in multiple sides of the fashion industry. This includes working with tanneries, industrial manufacture, retail and in exhibition. Her research and development has taken her to Paris and various parts of Italy. She is bilingual, speaking English and Italian. Sophia had always envisaged fashion to be more of a craft than a form of art, and naturally leant more towards the practical side of fashion. Footwear seemed to best represent this area and Sophia decided to head to the footwear capital of the UK in Northampton. Here she would study her undergraduate degree in fashion footwear. At the University of Northampton she annually attended trade shows such as Linea Pelle, undertook internships with companies such as Jeffery West and upon specialising in men’s footwear for her Ba final collection, won full sponsorship to design and manufacture her collection with the Prada owned brand, Church’s. Whilst travelling in the US after graduating, Sophia was offered a scholarship, inviting her to join the prestigious Cordwainers Masters programme at the London College of Fashion. She is now coming to the completion of her Ma in Fashion Footwear, and after having worked on one project with the company Dr.Martens, she has now completed her final collection in Italy working on a forward thinking women’s range, combining her digital prints with rapid prototyping and Italian craftsmanship. As well as this she spent her final term of the project working with Joseph Cheaney & Son's on her mens line, creating a range of unique classic menswear with a futuristic twist. The Concept being based on biological transformation and focusing on the visually impaired and colour blindness. This project looks at how one might be able to see through the eyes of a colour blind individual, using prints which appear to move and change underneath RGB colour lighting. This reveals different levels and layers to the pieces. Jewellery

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

International award Winning Fashion Jewellery Designer Geo Deco Collection For the 'Geo Deco Collection' I was inspired by light. There's a great energy as the sun shines in the day and when lights glow in the dark. I'm fascinated by light, and as it moves how it changes shapes, reflects and refracts. As the sun shines through coloured glass, its a delight as the hues of colours flood in its moving path. The sun mixes with water and oils to create spectrums of colour and It makes us feel happy, alive and awake... I use layers of different coloured light conducting perspex, mixed with mirrors, brass and in some pieces, LEDs. As the Jewellery moves, light catches the layers of material absorbing the lights energy, enhancing the colours as they conduct and glow brightly catching the eye. I work hard with the materials to get a great finish, to give it a polished, shiny, glassy effect and top it with brass to enrich and make it shine golden. The jewellery collection are individual pieces of art... They are structured and made to capture and entertain its audience. I like the pieces to have extra dimensions. The Jewellery is new and innovative, yet people connect as they see and find familiarities and memories within. pikkalili@live.co.uk GALLERIES MOCO LOCO Galleries http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2012/10/15/gallery-beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery.php THE ARAM GALLERY http://www.thearamgallery.org/next/ XHIBIT 2011 http://www.boidus.co.uk/?p=2755 DESIGN CATWALK http://www.designcatwalk.com/lili-colley-enlighted-jewellery/ SEE/SAW/SEEN http://www.seesawseen.co.uk/ DeTnK http://www.detnk.com/node/12050 DESIGN WEEK http://www.designweek.co.uk/whats-on/demystifying-beautiful-objects/3035438.article http://mocoloco.com/galleries/gallery/beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery/ PRESS DRAPERSonline http://www.drapersonline.com/blogs/unzipped/lcfs-college-shop-not-a-pencil-sharpener-in-sight/5041799.article Londonist http://londonist.com/2012/10/today-london-college-of-fashion-shop-opens.php GLAMUK http://glam.co.uk/2012/09/its-back-to-college-time/ COMPANY Magazine http://www.company.co.uk/fashion/news/london-college-fashion-pop-up-shop LDN Fashion http://www.ldnfashion.com/london-fashion-news/london-college-of-fashions-pop-up-college-shop/ Timeout Magazine WGSN http://wgsn.tumblr.com/post/30987031794 Elle UK.com http://m.elleuk.com/fashion/shopping-blog/the-lcf-college-shop-returns Viora Magazine http://www.vioromagazine.it/photogallery/ Dew Magazine http://www.dewmagazine.com/issuu/06newworld.html http://elegiac-circus.tumblr.com/post/31019347447/lili-colley http://pinterest.com/thedefiant/magazine-volume-1-5-future-bioculture-aw12-ss13/ - Style Bubble http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/shoes-n-things.html · Tatler.com Catwalk review with emphasis on VIP and Celebs http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/1 - Vogue.co.uk http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/06/29/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show - Evening Standard http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion/all-the-trimmings-london-fashion-graduates-prove-they-have-a-bright-future-7898848.html?origin=internalSearch - Fashion156.com http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ · Style Bubble Susie Lau’s influential fashion blog– Catwalk highlights: http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/hackney-house-antics.html · Catwalk Queen Catwalk show review: http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2012/07/london_college_6.html · Dash Magazine online Catwalk show review http://www.fashiondash.net/?p=3226 · Adorn Girl Fashion Blog: http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-exhibition-2012/ Exhibition review http://adorngirl.com/robert-wun-fashion-designer/ spotlight on Robert Wun http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-catwalk-2012/ Catwalk show review http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-2012-catwalk-backstage/ Backstage images · Luxsure French luxury magazine: http://www.luxsure.fr/2012/07/01/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show-2012/ · Fashion Bite (Fashion blog) Catwalk show review: http://fashionbite.co.uk/2012/07/04/london-college-of-fashion-runway-show-class-of-2012/#more-11721 · Better Never Than Late (blog) Image Gallery of Backstage at Catwalk Show: http://bntl.co.uk/2012/07/03/backstage-lcf-press-show/ · Fashion Insight (Trade publication) Catwalk review http://fashioninsightfeatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/london-college-of-fashion-ba-season.html · EStyler Magazine Image gallery of all designers: http://estylermagazine.com/interviews · The Upcoming (fashion and news blog) Catwalk show review: http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2012/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-and-fda-show/ · Now Fashion Catwalk show image gallery: http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html

BA (Hons) Fashion Design and Development

Sophie Deroy grew up in Vienna, Austria. She was born to French-American parents and attended the Vienna International School before moving to London at age 19. There, she attend the London College of Fashion and completed her Foundation and Bachelors degrees in Fashion Design and a short course in Conceptual Fashion Design at Central Saint Martins. During her gap year she worked for Austrian fashion designer Susan Strasser and travelled to New York and Paris to assist at various collection presentations. Sophie completed her studies at the University of the Arts London in July 2013. Alongside her studies, she interned at Charles Anastase, Marc Jacobs in New York, Alexander McQueen and Net-a-porter.com in London and Lena Hoschek in Vienna. Her final collection was inspired by elements of Austrian traditional dress, such as boiled wool and trimmings, and references to her French and American grandmothers. This is evidenced by the color palette, which comes from sand beaches and bruised skin. To produce the boiled wool pieces, Sophie worked with a factory in Tirol and travelled there many times over the course of the year to resolve issues in pattern and knit. The neoprene garments she produced herself, working with flat-seamers, specialist machines and finishing the pieces by hand. The collection was shot in Aldeburgh, on the Suffolk coast of England, in a joint effort by the designer herself and Simon Cracknell. Hair, make-up and styling was completed by the designer. In October 2013 a Fashion Media student at the London College of Fashion borrowed some of Sophie’s pieces for use in a short film entitled Mothamorphosis.
