MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear

DESIGNER NAME: Elena Saraceni ORIGIN: Born in Argentina, raised in Venezuela with Italian, French, Argentinian and Venezuelan heritage. DESIGN BACKGROUND: Graduated from Central Saint Martins, London College of fashion and Instituto Brivil. Holds a BA, Graduate Diploma and an Masters in Fashion design. She has worked between Paris, London and Caracas with Oscar Carvallo, Consuelo Zoelly, Maria Grachvogel, Alexander McQueen and her own brand and projects. DESIGN SIGNATURES: It would be more a language than a stamp. Balance between contradictory elements, making sense out of a paradox. BRAND PHILOSOPHY “Find potential in the ordinary, find beauty in the unexpected" CULTURAL INFLUENCES: "music, art, travel, everything. And there's also cinema, a movie has art, photography, style, philosophy, attitude, music and video all in one. The Amish Outlaw AW14 Collection "An Amish girl gets shunned by her family after she falls in love with a biker that was passing by and runs away with him. Now, she's trying to figure out how to belong to her new family without letting go of her religious beliefs." Inspired by Amish country and outlaw motorcycle clubs, the collection features hand-embroidered themes taken from the artisanal amish quilts and Biker visual identification and adornment, to create quilting for textured leather and workwear cotton. Mixing textured and flat fabrics, handwork and machine work, leather and quilting and melting them with a concept that joins antagonistic elements together. The magic happened in the in-between as always. Making sense out of the senseless. Looking for similarities in apparently different ideas. Making sense out of a paradox through the alchemy of concepts diluting them in a bricolage of styles and materials. www.elenasaraceni.com info@elenasaraceni.com https://www.facebook.com/elenasaraceni Twitter: @elenasaraceni http://www.linkedin.com/pub/elena-saraceni/56/b98/555 Instagram: elenasaraceni1

MA Fashion Design Technology Womenswear

This MA collection began with the idea of living off the land, and the land of others, leading to a deeper exploration in the shadows of overlapping histories. This narration, combined with further investigation into the codes of haute couture, inspired rich textile development and creative pattern cutting focused on nuanced shape manipulation and deceptive ease. --- A directionally-driven and multi-faceted designer with strong international industry experience, I am focused on the design & creation of modern womenswear; contemporary designer, luxury and couture. Experience includes designing for multiple product categories and markets; from concept and design to production and presentation, while working across Europe, The US, and Asia. Assisted in the Couture studio at Alexander McQueen while completing the MA at London College of Fashion -- earning distinctions for work with both "creative freedom & technical complexity". www.waldmann.co www.facebook.com/Waldmann.co Instagram & twitter: @waldmann_studio --- MA Collection for Autumn/Winter '14: Caroline @ Bookings photographed by Iringo Demeter Hair & makeup by Virginia Bertolani Trapunto Embroidery sponsored by Hand & Lock

MA Fashion Design Technology Menswear

Originally from Barcelona, and moved to London to study an MA in menswear at the London College of Fashion. Entitled 'Insectivore', The graduate collection aligns softness, strength and pliability using a mixture of neoprene, resin, leather and nylon. Exploring the protection processes of nature, that delved into the study of a beetle's structure, applying this combatant, geometric shape to each garment. Protection is the overall theme of the collection and this also comes from both the study of beetle features such as the wing-case and the 1995 thriller “Safe” by Todd Haynes that reflects a society that needs to be protected from chemicals. The images I create are about taking aspects of life out of context and dramatizing them to create something new. It is important to me that everything in the image lends itself to the feeling of possibility; that there is a place in which this narrative might really exist. My images are about thinking and viewing outside the confines of the existing world, to escape, and to be welcomed into something new. I believe that inspiration comes in all forms and your should let life into your art. MA Costume Design For Performance

Emmylou is a costume designer/maker and artist, graduated from the MA in Costume for Performance at London College of Fashion, a course designed to challenge the idea of costume, to encompass costume into other areas of theatre; set; narrative; environment; a space to inhabit where something happens. As a costume designer emmylou is interested in narrative and how it can be explored in design, the relationships between the performer and the audience, the costumes, setting, props and the body and how to make these different facets work in new, interesting and challenging ways in concert with and in support of performance and direction.

This SS/14 collection was inspired by the Guarani people of Paraguay and the hand weaved techniques used to this day, specially the Ñanduti weaving. Letizia is intensely moved and inspired by life and nature in all shapes and forms which lead her from a Biology degree to Footwear Design, and is also strongly influenced by her cultural heritage and all its complexities. Her work juxtaposes the delicate and unique elements of hand made crafts and unexpected usage of colour.

copyright © 2013 Huma Hayirli ----------------"Drag Me Out"---------------- I am a surface textile for fashion student specializing in print with an interest in digital print. I have a thirst for colour and extremely fascinated in creating textiles through combining print techniques with digital prints. ‘Drag me out’ is a luxury ready to wear spring/summer 2014 womenswear collection. The collection explores the story behind Drag queens and looks in-depth at the transformation from male to female. Trying to reflect this idea through contradictory fabrics, texture, colours and through the use of print. The inspiration originates from researching into the props that drag queens use and it is the wigs, eyelashes, make up and clothing that make them look totally different from their original selves. The use of colour was a major way of expressing my research and reflecting the quirkiness, colourful, exciting and bold personality of drag queens within this collection. --------------EDUCATION--------------- University of the Arts, London College of Fashion BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles (2010-2013) University of the Arts, London College of Fashion Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (2009-2010) -------------INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE--------------- Marks and Spencer Regional Office Turkey June 2012- August 2012 Design Intern/ Fabric Technician Marks and Spencer Regional Office Turkey January 2012- February 2012 Design Intern/ Fabric Technician Tower Garments May 2011- July 2011 Production Assistant White Gallery 24th May 2011 Production Assistant Sarmite Ostanevica 5th May 2011 Design Assistant Stilettos April 2010- July 2010 Studio Intern -------------SKILLS------------- Textile Skills Screen Printing Flock Foil Heat Press Printing Discharge Acid Pigment Printing Sublimation Printing Digital Printing Dyeing Irish Machines Tanaka Hand embroidery and embellishment Fashion Skills: Industrial/Domestic Machines Mannequin Work Basic Knowledge Pattern Cutting Drawings Skills (Hand rendered) Technical Drawings IT Skills: PC and Mac literate Adobe Photoshop (Basic) Adobe In-Design (Basic) Languages: Fluent English and Turkish

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. Practice-based project to create the design of an interactive fashion online store for Italian consumers

MA Fashion Retail

I have a fashion background and retail experience. I am willing to build a career in e-commerce and/or in fashion buying and merchandising. The title of my project is: Practice-based project to create the design of an interactive fashion online store for Italian consumers This study investigates how to build an online shopping experience for Italian consumers. Online retailers in Italy have been experiencing a delayed development, however, online sales in this country are increasing significantly and apparel is among the fastest growing sectors. The main issues identified by behavioural surveys are that Italian consumers enjoy the experiential and entertaining aspect of the online experience, but they consider buying online as risky because of the lack of product perception. These issues were addressed with a cross-cultural approach to the shopping experience. The research was conducted through the review of the literature in addition to interviews with think-alouds and observations. This study concluded confirming that for Italians the products need to be presented carefully and with many tools. On the other hand, it highlighted that female consumers in Italy enjoy more the utilitarian benefits of online stores, rather than the entertaining ones. Therefore, navigation and other utilitarian cues of the online websites are the most relevant, as supported by international theories. Moreover, they appreciate website interactivity and site-user understanding. The cultural approach confirmed that navigation and aesthetics are the most culturally sensitive online cues. The final outcome was a flat 2D design of an online e-commerce website targeting Italy, this reflected the conclusion of the research.

MA Fashion Design Technology Menswear

Born in China, studied BA fashion design technology at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology and MA menswear fashion design technology in London college of fashion. I drew inspiration from hands–the most flexible and complex part of human body. There are a variety of folding lines on the hands and they can be demonstrated by different types of gestures, just like dynamic wrinkles of the clothes which vary with the forms of different postures.

Born in Taiwan, Study Statistics in the first university in Taiwan. Before graduated, I found my interest in Design, especially in Fashion Design. In order to pursued my dream, I arrived in the United States in 2007 Summer with one suitcase and the braveness. After one year training in English, I finally started to learn the skills for design. In 2008, the winter vacation in Taiwan, I went to the induction of the University of the Arts London. Luckily, I had an interview with the professor from London College of Fashion. That was my starting point and that is everything to me. I love colours, floral patterns, geometric shape, symmetric design. I love to exploring things from my daily life. I record the impressing senery through my camera and keep them in files. This is how I build up my researches. For this 2014 Spring/Summer collection. I love to exploring the cultures, from the east to the west. I combine Chinese Art - Lian Pu, pleats and curve lines together. Trying to create the harmony with the mixture through draping skills. By using the embroidery with the wool yarn, I create the bulky, chunky and fluffy texture patterns. This make the pattern look more 3 dimensional. And I love it. In this collection, the main fabric in Linen. I love using nature fabric. It is sustainable, it is gently to the skin and it is friendly to the earth.
