FdA Fashion Design Technology (Designer Pattern Cutter)

there is always a gap in the market so when i am designing garments, when i am designing I keep in mind that the garments would need to be attractive to every woman but then it would need to be a multi purpose garments so I tend to make garments that are sleeveless but I would make jersey/lycra tops with sleeves so there would be an option to over up completely or wear top sleeveless or fully sleeves.

Multiple sides of beauty

MA Fashion Photography

As a fashion photographer and individual I wish to include a deep meaning into my work, yet to reflect my own personal experiences. Also, diversity is something that really interests me, since I believe that fashion should be affordable for every individual no matter their social, economic, cultural background. We should cherish our individuality. We are all differently beautiful, that is why I am trying to discover the beauty ideals the fashion and media industry are trying to impose in our lives.

Fragment Look 5, Fur sponsored by Saga Furs, Zip sponsored by Lampo Italy, Photography: Giovanni Mantins, Model: Gregory France

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

A 14/15 autumn/winter season collection: investigating the concept that is ‘FRAGMENT’, representing an incomplete human development and fragmented memories of human history, through different texture, fabric and diagonal pattern cutting. ‘FRAGMENT’ in futuristic modern society is a representation of seeking traditional and primitive authenticity within humanity that we lost, against the lifestyles of modern society, which is lacking freedom, sameness or uniformity by large-scale manufacturing. In this collection, key fabrics are fur against showing with metallic silver leather and high tech bonded fabric. Basically, fur symbolizes the human authenticity from primitive and folk imagery, so that the fur in the collection is combined and crafted with futuristic fabric. It is a strong hybrid type of collection. Guyhyun is a menswear designer, who studied at London College of Fashion BA Menswear. Kinetric Traces- Pneumatic hydraulic heels

MA Fashion Footwear

Kinetic Traces How can body motion dictate women’s fashion footwear design and its performance draw our consciousness? The principal functions of footwear are often sacrificed in Fashion. This project brings sports footwear fundamentals to high-end fashion as sports footwear are based on function and wearability, both very important elements for design features that must interact with the body and be usable by the wearer. I have been analysing comfort elements in footwear, and specially I studied and developed impact absorption, shoe weight, traction (the relationship between shoe and surface) and upper durability. I sought to bring these concepts into the design of high-end women’s high heels. The central concept of the project development was impact absorption, which was studied from a mechanical point of view because heels are structures which are affected by many different forces during the process of human motion. Working with an architect helped to study the forces which interact in the structure of the shoe during movement when walking with high heels. A collaboration with a photographer to photograph and then analyse the forces that interacting with the key points of the human movement that made possible to see the continuous movement broken down into individual parts as a diagram. To realise the absorption function, I introduced an element of internal movement into these structures. I collaborated with an engineer partner to develop these mechanisms, a mechanical technician to develop the mock-ups, and finally with an industrial partner to enable production of the final product in an industrial and much more professional way to achieve an appropriate standard for the target market. The mechanism developments were realised considering factors from both machinery and footwear, to develop a balance between them; the factors that have been key to development are: body weight, body motion, friction, and the percentage of mobility to keep the stability and control of the movement. Impact absorption was developed using different mechanical methods that were not previously used in Fashion, adding features such as springs, rubber balls and, pneumatic hydraulics and metal rings. The last is a new system developed for the industrial partner that I worked with, allowing regulation of the absorption effect depending on body weight. The mechanism can be bespoke according to bodyweight. The final outcomes are a representation of introducing mechanical concepts to traditional footwear. The methodologies used in the project are from traditional making (leather work, traditional machinery making, metal work, wood shaping) and rapid prototyping (3D milling machine, laser cuting and 3D printing). BA (Hons) Technical Effects for Performance

I joined LCF in 2009 completing a diploma in Image Styling for Performance, which paved the way for me to be accepted on the FDA Specialist Make-up & Hair for Film & TV 2010. In the 1st term of the 2nd yr of the FDA my creative needs had evolved as I was strongly drawn to the work I saw being produced in the Technical Effects studios, so I applied for a transfer to the BA (Hons) Technical Effects for Performance. I went through the interview process and I was accepted. Over the past five years of hard work and dedication I have developed an arsenal of technical skills such as silicon & fibre glass mould making , sculpting, life casting and puppetry, period hair & make-up and trauma make-up. Along with the technical skills I have learned about Character Construction through my engagement with the Cultural and Historical Studies aspect of the degree. This has not only given me the tools to create believable characters with depth and context, it has given me a better understanding of the world around me. As part of the degree we were required to spend six weeks working in industry. As I wish to work in live performance I arranged a placement with The English National Opera (ENO). I spent most of the time in the ENO workshop where I expanded as well as honed my skills. During the six weeks I also experienced installing a performance at the Coliseum where I worked with Prop Management. My time with the ENO has given me holistic hands-on experience that will be valuable to my future career.

ARTEFACT#6 EYES

MA Fashion Artefact

OUTROSPECTION; THE BODY AND MIND This project has taken as a starting point the concept of "Outrospection" initially introduced by philosopher Roman Kznaric, where he proposes that in order to know oneself one must live towards the outside, it is be experiencing life that one discovers and shapes oneself. I have appropriated his concept while relating it to out-of-body experiences or astral projections, by seeking to represent -in a metaphorical way- the mind being projected inwards out of the body as a way of self-expresion and representation. The collection has been made out of porcelain body casts, gold plated brass metal frames around the body, hand turned Colombian kingwood handles and vegetable-tanned leather harnesses. COLLABORATION For the slip-casting I worked side by side with ceramicist Kate Luck. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

>>OLIVIA HOWICK Olivia Howick is a Surface Textiles for Fashion graduate specializing in embroidery and embellishment, with a passion for transforming unexpected materials into luxurious fashion embellishment. Her graduate collection: ‘Medicate Me’ is a high-end ready to wear womenswear collection, that demonstrates the collision of contemporary and traditional approaches to medicine, through the exploration of Native American culture and advances in scientific medicine. The collection draws upon a textile tradition, and transforms it to demonstrate a clinical aesthetic which will appeal to the contemporary consumer. Exploration of new materials, in particular the use of PVC, has allowed for highly creative and innovative textile development through embroidery processes, that reflect on traditional craftsmanship, whilst evoking a clinical and medicinal aesthetic. Transforming materials is becoming an increasingly important aspect of Olivia’s work. This collection saw PVC hose pipes cut, dyed and stitched to become PVC beadwork. Combining this with satin stitch work and screen printed fabric, Olivia likes to work with both traditional aspects to textile design as well more unconventional material. Integral to Olivia’s practice is her illustration and drawing. Specializing in highly detailed hand rendered work, her illustration style is graphic, yet rich in textile inspired texture and detail. Olivia was selected as a finalist for the Nina de Yorke fashion illustration prize, and has also been shortlisted to compete to illustrate for the Maria Luisa website. Olivia was selected for the LCF Press Exhibition 2013 and exhibited a sculptural textile piece which demonstrated the concepts surrounding her Final Collection, as well as showcasing new textile development.
