Exploratory Study of Unpaid Celebrity Endorsements

MA Fashion Retail

Hello, my name is Laurel, and I am originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, but have been studying here at LCF for the past two and a half years. I began my studies in Fashion Management through the Post-Graduate Course and continued my work through the MA Fashion Retail program. Before coming to London I worked as an assistant buyer at a well known luxury retailer in the states. I have a business marketing background and have interests in retail branding and marketing. My research looks at how unpaid celebrity endorsements effect consumer behaviour both in the US and the UK. This study examined two relevant companies whose main strategies involve unpaid celebrity endorsements, Asos in the UK and Boutique to You in the US. My research identifies key attitudes in relation to the specific unpaid endorsement forms of celebrity red carpet, gifting, and street style. These processes were then analyzed by utilizing two classical consumer behavioral theoretic frameworks. Findings included positive affirmation of the influence of celebrities on fashion conscious consumers. Street style was found to be the most influential and credible form of unpaid endorsements for consumers in each demographic location. Conclusions were drawn with recommendations of continued use of unpaid endorsement methods, with a sharp focus on social media, highlighting celebrity street style looks.

Final Collection 1

BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

With a constructive approach to design, Andy Dunford uses craft-like and unusual methods of reinventing textiles. Starting with traditional silhouettes, he reinterprets these codes, creating a contemporary wardrobe with great attention to detail and the functionality of garments. In particular for this collection, gender has been explored in appropriating womenswear for the modern, sophisticated man. It was during his part-time internship at futuristic, minimalist menswear brand Peir Wu that Andy began to investigate the thought process behind design and the story and personality of dress. Through this industry experience and discovery in both ordinary and extraordinary life, the concept of his designs are formed. He surrounds himself with creatives and takes inspiration from personality. Ever the observer, it is mood and perspective that most interests him. Exploring various uniforms and the concept of wardrobe creates a living costume. Andy looks at the apron as a canvas for living and existing in modern life - his final collection is an examination of how clothes adapt with you and how they can be inspired by one’s seemingly mundane and often overlooked surroundings. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear r.hollis2@fashion.arts.ac.uk rhollis92@gmail.com "IS THERE SOMETHING BAD HERE" Is Isolation a dehumanising destruction of man or a beautiful solitude? This Collection explores the question of Isolation. Through the studies of Stanley Kubricks dark vision of the human psyche to the beautiful solitude of Scottish Highlands. Stemmed from personal interests of Kubrick's work; in particular The Shining and a patriotic admiration for Scotland did research and development evolve; creating an uneasy, eclectic and authentic collection. From hand dyed sheepskin to corduroy, suede and towelling, the collection explores a range of classic fabrications with a modern take. Textures and touch are imperative in my work as a Designer. BA (Hons) Cordwainers Fashion Bags and Accessories: Product Design and Innovation

www.jessicahearnshaw.com Jessica Hearnshaw is an Accessories Designer based in London who's focus is around the design and craftsmanship of high quality conceptual leather goods. This collection’s focus is on accessories that have a integral relationship to what they contain. That are as fascinating to unwrap, as a gift is to open. Inspired specifically by traditional japanese packaging which has a strong minimalist aesthetic. A key notion of japanese packaging is that the gift and the act of unwrapping the gift, is just as important as what is inside. This art form would wrap a given object in whatever materials lay at hand. The outcome was often not only practical for storage and transporting the object but also produced a simple beautiful shape free of all excess and extravagance ----------------------------------------------- Credits: Images 1 - 5: Art Director: Benjamin Thapa, Photographer: Giulia Zucchetti, Model: Max @ Profile, Stylist: Irene Manicone, Makeup: Nichola Mai Images 6 - 9: Art Direction & Photographer: Benjamin Thapa Image 10 - 11: Photography: Anthony John Sayer Creative Director: Rob Phillips Beauty: Pace Chen Model: Rosemary Banks

His work has been seen in in multiple publications, numerous websites and with clients ranging from Drapers Magazine, Mappin and Webb, Oxfam and The Sanderson Hotel. Specialising in Runway and garment Illustration, as well as shoes and accessories. His style is very quick, expressive and informal which is mirrored in his personality and energy. SS/13 - Combining Fashion Illustration with Fashion Design. Looking at Marching Cubes (a computer generated algorithm) and contrasting this with nature and old cartoon sketches formed my illustrations.
