BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles

Final year knit student on the BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles course at London College of Fashion with an experimental approach to design and ability to knit with a variety of materials. Previous degree in illustration allowed me to exercise strong drawing and conceptual thinking skills, which are continually integrated into my current work which is described as unconventional yet, wearable with a feminine touch. As part of my final major project, the idea of fashioned-objects that grow with the wearer over time was explored drawing inspiration from Western charm jewellery and its variants worldwide. Further research into the concept resulted in a collection of luxurious, knitted art jewellery pieces, which uniquely showcase the idea of building forms through the use of unconventional materials and techniques. These ‘one-off’ pieces are geared towards sophisticated women of any age who enjoy ‘making statements’ through dress which allow their personalities to shine just like a piece of charm jewellery. _________________________________________________ Extra-Curricular Projects: Art of Dress Project Selected along with other students to take part in the 'Art of Dress' project, a traveling exhibition organized by LCF Creative Director Rob Phillips taking place in London, Shanghai, New York, Dubai and Florence. _________________________________________________ Education: September 2011-present [University of the Arts London: London College of Fashion [London, England] [BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles] Specializing in knit Sept 2010-May 2011 [University of the Arts London: Chelsea College of Art and Design] [London, England] [Foundation Diploma in Art and Design] Specialized in Fashion and Textile Design 2004-2008 [Ontario College of Art and Design] [Toronto, Ontario Canada] [Bachelor of Design, Illustration] 2003-2004 [Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning] [Oakville, Ontario, Canada] [Art Fundamentals Certificate] _________________________________________________ Work Experience: uk.linkedin.com/in/lindaawuku _________________________________________________ Credits: "...like a piece of charm jewellery." Nature Prevails : Signature Court Shoe - Achillea

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development

Supporting the journey towards refashioning footwear products into desirable, sustainable pieces was the objective of the final project. With the challenge to refine the rough textural appearance highly associated with sustainable designs, the designer developed a unique range to create modernistic, enticing shoes. The gentle spirit of nature and it's natural cycle is the key inspiration for the collection. Through a combination of traditional natural dyeing techniques with flowers, red cabbage, logwood and other natural ingredients, a range of print and colour variations was produced to develop a collection of unique, exclusive products. The concept produces inevitable fresh, feminine designs supported by a sustainable, unique selling point in footwear fashion. ................................................................................................ A very confident, multi-talented Footwear Designer/Product Developer that is inquisitive and analytical in her studies. Having completed work experiences both in luxury and commercial fields, she demonstrates a keen interest footwear product development and business awareness. With a commercial understanding, consumer behaviour is her key drive to creating products that are unique and desirable. Diana has developed an extensive understanding of the technical making processes and has engaged with several IT softwares to enhance the variety of CAD skills within her portfolio. She is incredibly focused and determined and her skills would highly contribute to any company in the fashion industry. JEEGUI"FRAGMENT" A 15 autumn/winter season collection: investigating the concept that is ‘FRAGMENT’, representing an incomplete human development and fragmented memories of human history, through different texture, fabric and diagonal pattern cutting. ‘FRAGMENT’ in futuristic modern society is a representation of seeking traditional and primitive authenticity within humanity that we lost, against the lifestyles of modern society, which is lacking freedom, sameness or uniformity by large-scale manufacturing. In this collection, key fabrics are fur against showing with metallic silver leather and high tech bonded fabric. Basically, fur symbolizes the human authenticity from primitive and folk imagery, so that the fur in the collection is combined and crafted with futuristic fabric. It is a strong hybrid type of collection. Guyhyun is a menswear designer, who studied at London College of Fashion BA Menswear. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Graduate Press Show collection 2015 The collection grew from ideas surrounding obsolescence; if you stay in one place a long time you begin to incorporate what is around you, grow feelings. In a sense after a while you become the furniture, ingrained in the walls. I was inspired initially by photographers such as Daido Moriyama and Nobuyoshi Araki, and the skeletal clothing in the Capuchin Monasteries. Rope-tying, gathering, knotting and the use of hair and water. Dip-dying and exploration of dying techniques on synthetic and natural fabrics to create watermarks and light tie dye effects using the para rope for tying. During my own dyeing processes I took inspiration from the inky effects dye has in water and on fabric. The rope and knotting reflects the movements and marks left after water has been present. Every garment should have a uniqueness as every object or person does, the history and life they have lived shows and has been ingrained there; we all in effect leave traces behind. BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

My work is based in traditional tailoring however, I find myself confident in challenging the forms and overturn it in modern and fresh silhouettes through pattern cutting and fabrics. I also have combined skills such as hand and machine sewing, research, design development through sketches and technical drawings. Through education and work experience, I have a strong skill working with 3d garments, such as draping and creating over the body and then working with toiles for a perfect fit. As I graduated in Bespoke Tailoring I built knowledge in how to construct a quality garment with high standard fit. https://lizandra-cardoni.squarespace.com

In Loving Memory: Dolores (Illustration)

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development

In Loving Memory (Final Major Project) In Loving Memory is a unique vision of pain and grief and the process of overcoming it. Taking inspiration from the religious rites of the Holy Week in Spain and the Victorian tradition of mourning dress code, the collection is a 21st century avant-garde interpretation of the feminine. Saul Robayna has developed an analytical and critical eye to the market offer as well as the costumer's needs and desires from his experience working for luxury retailers, a knowledge that is clearly reflected throughout his work. With a core on design, craftsmanship, quality and an extraordinary consideration for detail and texture, Saul Robayna seeks to empower women through classic yet sexy creations as well as more experimental designs.

On the verge

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development

Creative and highly committed student aiming to broaden my knowledge of the luxury footwear industry, both in design and development. FINAL COLLECTION Taking Pedro Almodóvar’s work as the main inspiration, the following lines from his film ‘Kika’ (1993) outline the collection just as neatly as the perfect eyeliner: “The eyelash widens the eye, gives depth, expression, shape. A girl with almond-shaped eyes is better than one with spaniel eyes. Even the most banal woman looks intelligent, looks sparkling with lashes. Eyelashes are great. I’m all for them, girls!” My final collection represents a journey from basic to luxury, nine simple vibrant red suede shoes inspired by quotidian actions such as the make-up routine women do everyday, not forgetting the gloss of nail polish symbolised in the deep red patent leather and the strong black colour proper of eyebrows and eyelashes. Drawn to the luxury feel of these references, Faye also questions the attraction they have. Ultimately, this project is not about judging whether 'the attraction of excess' is something to be celebrated or frowned upon. It is about awareness, knowing where our desires come from. Knowing the difference between what we need and what we want, but also indulging in the pleasure luxury affords us. Faye's graduate collection is a show of sophisticated luxury and modern comfort and this is reflected in the materials and finishings that are used.

Final major project - The witch inside me

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development

Final major project - The witch inside me The concept for this collection is for every women to search for and find the witch inside themselves. We all wish we could have magic powers, the concept questions how and for what purpose we would use them for. Taking into account women’s real opinions and feelings is important for the design process. The purpose of the collection is to reveal the dark and good side in every women. The intent is to make them dream, allow them to evade reality and remind them that they are strong and invincible. MY VISION OF DESIGN My designs tell a story, I want people to think beyond the look of the shoes. They should be able to understand my thinking process to create a deeper relationship between them and my designs. Contact: geraldine.delemme@gmail.com
