MA Digital Fashion
I am artefact designer based in East London. I completed my BA at the London College of Fashion with First Class honours and perused a successful career designing and creating fashion and accessories for two years. Last year I was awarded a prestigious scholarship from the Head of the British Fashion Council, Harold Tilman to study an MA in Digital Fashion at the London College of Fashion. During my time studying my MA I started to explore using 3D printing in jewellery design . I am now passionate about using 3D printing techniques mixed with my traditional background in fashion, thus creating complex and beautiful wearable art that would be impossible to create without 3d printing or without an indepth knowledge of classic design techniques.
Making use of advances in 3D printed technology as well as an innovative, collaborative business model, I aim to design, produce and retail a new 12 piece 3D printed jewellery range every 6 months. I promote each new range through trans-media campaigns, specifically fashion films, viral animations and events such as screenings and group exhibitions. I am also developing an accessory range, including gloves and head-pieces, using new flexible 3D printed materials.
London has been a centre of creative design and excellence in fashion. However, the arts in the UK have been slow to recognise the potential of 3D printing or take advantage of the technology (few risks and low prototyping costs). UK designers have consequently lost ground to designers in other countries, particularly the Netherlands and the USA. I am determined to demonstrate that 3D printing can be used to create beautiful, fashion forward artefacts and in so doing make sure that London becomes a centre of excellence for the technology.

'Interpretation of alter ego in unconsciousness'
This collection is indicative of the concept through observation of two different selves of human. One is true self, other is repressed another self of human caused by external pressure in this modern society and this repressed self can be expressed through unconscious. In this unconscious, there seems to be no rules, moralities set by the society and are the only place were the repressed humanâs desire can convey itself. And the energy of these repressed desires are coming into âsubstitute activitiesâ such as dreams and parapraxis, which are expressed in the unconscious. And these energies could also be transmitted into creative activities. As a result, these creative activities can be metaphor of humanâs true desire. With this in mind, this collection was derived from these creative activities to find another self of pattern cutting and the concept of this collection can be seen in two methodologies. one is 'Alter ego of pattern cutting' to replace garment patterns into the place which is not supposed to belong to them and other one is 'Imaginarium of pattern cutting' to show juxtaposition of unfamiliar and unexpected meeting of garment patterns. these concepts create new silhouette and also give new meanings to garment pattern.'Boundless Maze' Fashion short film

The concept for my collection 'A Multitude of Hybrids' derived from my culture; looking into the meanings behind Composite Hindu Gods and through further research into the myths and stories of Medieval Bestiaries. I was intrigued by the stories about all of these beautiful and mythical creatures and so began to focus my attention on the exciting textures used.
Through expressive mark making i created print ideas that were reminiscent of the textures of these creatures. All prints were hand screen printed using a variety of techniques including discharge, colour discharge, pigment and foil. Discharge print technique holds great significance through collection to echo concept of reincarnation. The concept of hybrids was emphasised through the use of specialist Tanaka machinery to create embroidery on the front and back of each garment to merge fabrics together. Silhouettes were inspired by contemporary sportswear providing a youthful and urban feeling to contrast with the traditional craft processes used. Fabric and colour choices derived from initial sourcing in India to echo wealth of culture and contemporary sportswear to modernise traditional and almost expected combinations.

There is a fresh interpretation in Ancient Egyptian Culture in Kay Kwokâs menswear collection--fake eternity.
with the inspiration of Ancient Egyptian Religious and Cosmology-the mysterious story behind Sphinx, the relation between the process of mummy erosion and the system of Ancient Egyptianâs constellation like Ancient culture of Solar,Lunar & Stellar story. the Designer has combined the ideas to create prints by playing shades, light and flame aiming to pushing digital printing into a new area with the twist of classic menswear tailoring.⨠Printed Neoprene fabric is widely used on the collection because of its fleshy hand-feel.â¨â¨
with the uniqueness and freshness of his menswear , the collection was nominated for the Collection of The Year Award 2012.

Eva Lai specialises in luxury intimate apparel with comfort being key in her designs.
Materials that she used are always super soft against the skin and invoke the senses. Touch is just as important as the aesthetic. They are aimed to make wearers not just look great, but also to empower and invite confidence.
She pays a lot of attention to the details, every stitch and elastic trim counts. Eva designs to flatter the female body, not to challenge it, hence the cut of the garments is extremely important. She loves combining old & new, by bringing traditional elements into modern designs. Her designs bring out the kind of seductiveness, which retains sophistication. It is classically elegant with a bit of kink and a scintilla of naughtiness!

BA FDT WOMENSWEAR final major project
âWhy we cannot be ourselves like yesterday.â ----V&A âpostmodernismâ 2011. This quote in the exhibition inspired me to look into art works in late 1950s. Then, I was inspired by large-size of women in Jenny Savilleâs work.
In recent years, the body has no longer only existed in traditional portraiture but become an active presence in live and participatory events. The round oversized shape, âfatsâ and skin-like textiles form the core of this collection. For most garments, I have developed some personalised fabrics by laminating, dying, painting, bonding. The glossy and colored fabrics are used as a visual language to invoke a sense of confidence and joy.
This collection celebrates the confidence of different sizes of women in modern age. Ultimately, as a designer, I always believe that all of women can be fashionable and choose the dresses which they can present themselves whatever they want to be.

K, [HyungTae Kim].
."I donât like the term âfashionâ. I am not a fashion designer. I am a creatorâ.
"A/W 2013 Generation."
A/w 2013
"The idea of K A/w 13 collection is to explore the sensitive relationship between youth-cultures and parental culture."
My concept is to look at the contrasts between the themes of 'Father/Tradition, Youth/rebellious and Uniform/War. What inspired me were the memory and feelings I had when I was an adolescent boy. The memory of trying my Father's clothes is unforgettable. What remains deep inside of me is the feeling of warmth and comfort. To more accurately describe, it was like wearing a very warm blanket in a very cold and lonely winter. This feelings got stronger when I was trying his military jacket. I wanted to deliver that feeling of warmness of oversized khaki fabrics whilst having the adolescent boy's rebelliousness attitude that I had as I grow up, as his jacket getting smaller."Hyung tae Kimâs was also great â it was a very good season.â Backpacks featured strongly in a great deal of collections, particularly in Kimâs who presented low-slung oversized backpacks combined with large, long coats that looked reminiscent of âtypicalâ fatherâs clothing but with a younger fresher vibe" - Hilary Alexander

Paulo Luz graduated his MA Fashion Design Menswear at University Of Arts London showing an avant-garde collection called Ventilation: Design for Global Warming. Based on functional and tailored garments, every element has to has a meaning. Looking to a more sustainable and fresh design all the materials were natural and some organics, specially linen. Unique crochet pieces were all made by hand in a small city in Rio de Janeiro. Simple yet sophisticated where "less is always more" this project was just the beggining of a long term realtionship towards a more minimal and sustainable future.
2008-2011 Paulo Luz worked for Richards, a major brand in Brazil and has experience in Jerseys, Knitwear, Jeanswear, Shorts, Trousers, Outerwear and Jackets.
2004-2008 Paulo participated in Rio Fashion Week with his own label - Pluz Brasil - as a new talent designer, winning an award of best new designer in 2007.
1999-2002 Graduated his BA Graphic Design, PUC-RIO - Brazil.
