Eva Lai specialises in luxury intimate apparel with comfort being key in her designs.
Materials that she used are always super soft against the skin and invoke the senses. Touch is just as important as the aesthetic. They are aimed to make wearers not just look great, but also to empower and invite confidence.
She pays a lot of attention to the details, every stitch and elastic trim counts. Eva designs to flatter the female body, not to challenge it, hence the cut of the garments is extremely important. She loves combining old & new, by bringing traditional elements into modern designs. Her designs bring out the kind of seductiveness, which retains sophistication. It is classically elegant with a bit of kink and a scintilla of naughtiness!

MA Fashion Curation
I EVOKE MUSES AND RESUSCITATE DIVAS.
I graduated in Fashion Design at Politecnico in Milan in 2008 with a project on Chanel and menswear, a reinterpretation of her iconic suit, juxtaposed with transformable wear. Grade: 100/110.
I have recently completed my master's degree in Fashion Curation at London College of Fashion with a project on the Italian noblewoman Marchesa Luisa Casati, whose fashion and art deeds inspired countless artists of her time and still retain a big influence on contemporary fashion. My research will be presented at London College of Fashion MA Show at Victoria House, London, in February 2013: a 45-minute documentary will be shown during the exhibition and will feature interviews with curators as well as footages from fashion shows and films.
My main field of research is that of fashion and music, first developed in the fictitious exhibition 'ON A CLEAR DAY: Barbra At The Pavilion', which created a parallel between the artistic vision of the Prince Regent and that of Streisand. Then, being chosen as keynote speaker by the Costume Society UK for their annual Study Day in 2012 represented a big step in my career. Together with my collaborator Giuseppe Meduri, I developed a research on the exploitation of costumes by music divas in the creation of their stage personae. Although the speech focused only on popular music divas from the 1850s onwards, the project behind this research is a book on the history of all music divas, which we expect to be published in 2014.
I am now currently working on an exhibition on Chanel by Professor Amy De La Haye which will open at London College of Fashion in September 2013. My role is that of assistant as well as coordinator of the Italian stop of this touring exhibition.
I worked from October 2010 to September 2011 at Fondazione Antonio Ratti in Como, Italy, as assistant curator and graphic designer.
www.fondazioneratti.org
I also interned at Kerry Taylor Auctions and GAMeC, the modern and contemporary art gallery of Bergamo, Italy.
For more information on my researches, please contact me at matteo.augello@hotmail.it

MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)
Yan Yu Cheung, Octo set as a metaphor of fashion alchemist in life. She fascinates in the new textile technique continuously season by season which is a scientist endeavour for the philosopherâs stone. She aims to create a trend called "antique innovation". It is a step backward from the historical technology to the new thing. Not just superficial digital technique can fulfill it. She also states that inheriting the history is a responsibility from a designer.
In her MA Menswear Collection, all the boys are her alchemical homunculus. Since alchemy is a spiritual topic which is different from the shallow inspiration from photography or art work. The conscious and subconscious approach is the indispensable process from ancient literature in alchemy to relative design development. Interpreting the elusive concept in text to actual thing is conducted by understanding the balanced way in alchemy, no matter the change from metal to gold or the creation of philosopherâs stone. All the process they devised which proceeded by separation and reunification such as liquefaction, which transform solid to liquid in alchemy. Something was devoured and reformed theoretically.
"The interpretation of dreams is a great art."

or her signature knitwear technique,

ANIMAL: The Other Side of Evolution (fiberglass, polyester resin, 2012)
WINNER OF THE MA DESIGN AWARD 2012, LONDON COLLEGE OF FASHION, UNIVERSITY OF THE ARTS LONDON
WINNER OF THE ACCESSORIES COLLECTION OF THE YEAR, INTERNATIONAL TALENT SUPPORT (ITS) 2012, ITALY
The project is grounded in a unique visual interpretation of animal anatomy, building upon existing skeleton structures to create a series of sculptural pieces that appear as natural properties of the human body, suggesting strength, power and sensuality. Concepts of mutation and evolution are explored in order to develop a contemporary cross-image of human and animal, an atemporal, supreme creature, beyond past and future.
The goal was to fabricate a collection of 8 pieces of personal adornment, that would not be specifically categorised as jewellery or accessories. The idea was to step out of the traditional jewellery/accessories context in order to develop a ânew breedâ of precious objects that can be exhibited both separately on their own and fully attached to the human body.
All of the objects were handcrafted creating multi-part master molds, using gelcoat, fiberglass, resin and silicone rubber.
The pieces perform a double function: they exist as fashion objects attached to the wearer, as well as separate art works, exhibited in gallery spaces. Because of this dual quality they can be considered fashion artefacts in the true sense: objects of desire, rather than just mere adornments.

DEFECTS
Growing up in a family of orthopedic technicians and prostheses constructors, I was raised in a spirit to assist human bodies that were not blessed by nature with a perfectly functioning body. This background left an essential impact on me and fostered my knowledge and interest in unusual (body) shapes, special materials and also in my method of operation.

BEAUTIFUL IS JUST ANOTHER DEGREE OF TERRIBLE:
Country in a systemic crisis as an opportunity for exploration of folklore culture
This project is a way to show there is an opportunity in a crisis for improvement. It can be expressed using oneâs own cultural resources. It reflects confusion and disappointment among people especially in Greece and its youth. Youth needs to appreciate its cultural heritage and not to reject it by imitating foreign stereotypes. This has always been the case in many countries, since young people are always looking at other dominant cultural heritages to get inspired. The only way to make culture appealing to youth is to disguise it through the fashion industry. The economic crisis is a vital factor creating confusion but at the same time needing solutions. The new interpretations of Carnival values and symbolisms will be used as a medium to suggest solutions through the use of non conventional materials.

The main discussion in this project is â The inability of humans to stay still.â I wanted to express a concept about returning to oneâs original nature, looking at nomads, their life and the nature power of making clothes from a new angle, with an idea about time and memory. The nomadic life style, especially in Central Asia, is one focus in my research. Nomadsâ everyday dress, accessories and daily essentials, the places they live and their hand-weaving technique also work as design references in this project.
âTime & Memoryâ went through the collection construction. This idea is shown mainly through the manufacturing methodology in the project. Edges of the fabrics were loosed naturally during the manufacturing process. The seaming methodology is complex. I needed to use hand stitching in the whole collection in order to present the natural power of making clothes. Traces of machines are not seen in the project. Fringes were created in some parts of the seams on the garments. Yarn-dyed woven fabrics are important materials in the project and an organic colour scheme is used to emphasize the concept

MA Fashion Footwear
The main aim of Stephanie Hensleyâs collection is to subvert established modes of thinking both in China and on an international scale through a variety of contrasts. The first was to challenge the long-standing stigma of the term âMade in Chinaâ and what that represents by producing a collection of high quality luxury footwear in the country most widely known for mass-producing cheap, low quality goods.
The use of symbolism in colors and imagery is ever present & almost inherently accepted & internalized in China. This collection aims to subvert these traditional symbols by pairing contrasting meanings, almost voiding the symbolsâ essence as a result.
The shoes within this collection consist of an embroidered kidskin leather inner shoe, mostly asymmetrical on the foot but symmetrical in pairs. These inner shoes are the encompassed by a âshellâ: a translucent, embroidered outer shoe that stands away from the inner shoe, providing a layer of both protection & obscurity for the shoe underneath. A modernization of a traditional Chinese shoemaking process poetically named the âThousand Layer Soleâ provides texture as well as a bit of shock absorption. The shoes are completed by a transparent heel and platform, further strengthening the theme of transparency or translucence.
