Lilla is a womenswear, textile and accessories designer based in London and Budapest. As a textile designer she is is specialized in embroidery, but also skilled in print and knit. Born and raised is Hungary, Lilla's graduate AW13 collection was inspired by Hungarian heritage and culture. "Folk Supernatural" is based around the supernatural means of Hungarian Folkwear. Sophisticated, edgy and inspired by imacculate craftmanship are the ethos behind the collection and Lilla's work in general. The title of this project is "Escaping reality by using creative imagination". Research began with the film Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and from there it went on to other films such as Alice in Wonderland, Science of Sleep, Wizard of Oz and more and also into thinking about the childish way of life. How everything is much more relaxed for children and how they don´t put as much boundaries on themselves, their way of thinking and on their imagination as adults do, the importance of letting the inner child out is vital and also the ability to let the imagination free and take you places.

My illustration work concentrates on intricate pen detail in the form of surrealistic environments, using animals and nature forms as the main source of inspiration. Even though my illustrations are primarily black and white, colour composition is the strongest element of my work, particularly shown when i use my drawings to design vivid and graphic prints. Surprisingly, knitwear is my specialism, as this means I can use colour to it's full potential to create overly textured and colourfully embroidered knitwear samples.

Tim the Boatman

FdA Cordwainers Fashion Accessory Design

In my work, my focus is creating pieces that transform into different ones, enabling the consumer to engage with the accessory in a way that's more personal and imaginative with details that are specifically designed to serve the needs of the individual and his/her lifestyle. This process allows the work itself to be unique. I am very committed in what I do, focused, hardworking and independent, however I equally enjoy working with other individuals and groups that share my passion for innovation and originality in accessory design. This project was designed around the identity of a ‘Global Commuter’ who demands functionality in a personalized product. The main focus was the identity of a boatman. London accommodates a lot of people who choose to live on narrow boats. These people lead quite a multifaceted lifestyle, almost a perfect combination of the countryside and the cosmopolitan city thus they require a product that will serve most of their needs, whether they commute within the city or they travel nationally or internationally. The concept for the shape of the collection stemmed from turtles on the idea that the ‘shell’ protects you and becomes your home. The accessories within the collection are versatile and all attachable and detachable to the main ‘shell’. MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Yan Yu Cheung, Octo set as a metaphor of fashion alchemist in life. She fascinates in the new textile technique continuously season by season which is a scientist endeavour for the philosopher’s stone. She aims to create a trend called "antique innovation". It is a step backward from the historical technology to the new thing. Not just superficial digital technique can fulfill it. She also states that inheriting the history is a responsibility from a designer. In her MA Menswear Collection, all the boys are her alchemical homunculus. Since alchemy is a spiritual topic which is different from the shallow inspiration from photography or art work. The conscious and subconscious approach is the indispensable process from ancient literature in alchemy to relative design development. Interpreting the elusive concept in text to actual thing is conducted by understanding the balanced way in alchemy, no matter the change from metal to gold or the creation of philosopher’s stone. All the process they devised which proceeded by separation and reunification such as liquefaction, which transform solid to liquid in alchemy. Something was devoured and reformed theoretically. She made change on traditional cable stitch on knitwear, a chemical process by hand adopted on the surface to create a new image. Besides, original form of suit jacket faded on shirt or kimono, so as to create the imperfect chaotic stage of cheap metal gold making. The garment paused the combination from two substance into a compand in order to project an innovative cutting. "The interpretation of dreams is a great art." If you are curious how to develop the unique pattern cutting or her signature knitwear technique, Please click Octo’s personal website for portfolio Website : http://www.octocheung.com/ E-mail : info@octocheung.com
