BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear)

"Never too old to play dress up" was inspired by memories of my grandmother and her eclectic style, love of colour, print, texture and all things maximal. From these memories I began an investigation into age and it's effect on style, identity and image. This took me on a journey of exploration into some inspiring characters for whom despite their age everyday is an opportunity to play dress up. To be expressive visually and push boundaries that come with age and stereotype. To have the confidence and audacity to be completely themselves and only themselves, why be anything else? Geo Deco Collection For the 'Geo Deco Collection' I was inspired by light. There's a great energy as the sun shines in the day and when lights glow in the dark. I'm fascinated by light, and as it moves how it changes shapes, reflects and refracts. As the sun shines through coloured glass, its a delight as the hues of colours flood in its moving path. The sun mixes with water and oils to create spectrums of colour and It makes us feel happy, alive and awake... I use layers of different coloured light conducting perspex, mixed with mirrors, brass and in some pieces, LEDs. As the Jewellery moves, light catches the layers of material absorbing the lights energy, enhancing the colours as they conduct and glow brightly catching the eye. I work hard with the materials to get a great finish, to give it a polished, shiny, glassy effect and top it with brass to enrich and make it shine golden. The jewellery collection are individual pieces of art... They are structured and made to capture and entertain its audience. I like the pieces to have extra dimensions. The Jewellery is new and innovative, yet people connect as they see and find familiarities and memories within. pikkalili@live.co.uk GALLERIES MOCO LOCO Galleries http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2012/10/15/gallery-beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery.php THE ARAM GALLERY http://www.thearamgallery.org/next/ XHIBIT 2011 http://www.boidus.co.uk/?p=2755 DESIGN CATWALK http://www.designcatwalk.com/lili-colley-enlighted-jewellery/ SEE/SAW/SEEN http://www.seesawseen.co.uk/ DeTnK http://www.detnk.com/node/12050 DESIGN WEEK http://www.designweek.co.uk/whats-on/demystifying-beautiful-objects/3035438.article http://mocoloco.com/galleries/gallery/beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery/ PRESS DRAPERSonline http://www.drapersonline.com/blogs/unzipped/lcfs-college-shop-not-a-pencil-sharpener-in-sight/5041799.article Londonist http://londonist.com/2012/10/today-london-college-of-fashion-shop-opens.php GLAMUK http://glam.co.uk/2012/09/its-back-to-college-time/ COMPANY Magazine http://www.company.co.uk/fashion/news/london-college-fashion-pop-up-shop LDN Fashion http://www.ldnfashion.com/london-fashion-news/london-college-of-fashions-pop-up-college-shop/ Timeout Magazine WGSN http://wgsn.tumblr.com/post/30987031794 Elle UK.com http://m.elleuk.com/fashion/shopping-blog/the-lcf-college-shop-returns Viora Magazine http://www.vioromagazine.it/photogallery/ Dew Magazine http://www.dewmagazine.com/issuu/06newworld.html http://elegiac-circus.tumblr.com/post/31019347447/lili-colley http://pinterest.com/thedefiant/magazine-volume-1-5-future-bioculture-aw12-ss13/ - Style Bubble http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/shoes-n-things.html · Tatler.com Catwalk review with emphasis on VIP and Celebs http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/1 - Vogue.co.uk http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/06/29/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show - Evening Standard http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion/all-the-trimmings-london-fashion-graduates-prove-they-have-a-bright-future-7898848.html?origin=internalSearch - Fashion156.com http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ · Style Bubble Susie Lau’s influential fashion blog– Catwalk highlights: http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/hackney-house-antics.html · Catwalk Queen Catwalk show review: http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2012/07/london_college_6.html · Dash Magazine online Catwalk show review http://www.fashiondash.net/?p=3226 · Adorn Girl Fashion Blog: http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-exhibition-2012/ Exhibition review http://adorngirl.com/robert-wun-fashion-designer/ spotlight on Robert Wun http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-catwalk-2012/ Catwalk show review http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-2012-catwalk-backstage/ Backstage images · Luxsure French luxury magazine: http://www.luxsure.fr/2012/07/01/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show-2012/ · Fashion Bite (Fashion blog) Catwalk show review: http://fashionbite.co.uk/2012/07/04/london-college-of-fashion-runway-show-class-of-2012/#more-11721 · Better Never Than Late (blog) Image Gallery of Backstage at Catwalk Show: http://bntl.co.uk/2012/07/03/backstage-lcf-press-show/ · Fashion Insight (Trade publication) Catwalk review http://fashioninsightfeatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/london-college-of-fashion-ba-season.html · EStyler Magazine Image gallery of all designers: http://estylermagazine.com/interviews · The Upcoming (fashion and news blog) Catwalk show review: http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2012/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-and-fda-show/ · Now Fashion Catwalk show image gallery: http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html

Range

BA (Hons) Fashion Contour

Lingerie specialist focused on brand and design. Graduate collection is inspired by Tereza’s character in the novel ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ by Milan Kundera. The range tells the story of her moments of ‘lightness’ and ‘weight’ through use of fabric, silhouette and colour. Bone castings grow out from seam lines that alter the body’s silhouette, exploring the answer to Tereza’s question when she wonders, “if various parts of her body began to grow and shrink and [she] no longer looked like herself, would she still be Tereza?”. Enthusiastic about creating a brand identity that is relevant and offers an experience - telling a story through products that focus on detailing, particularly using hand finished techniques, to create appropriate yet unexpected designs for the target market and consumer. Previously worked on industry projects during studies, both in commercial and luxury areas, including participating in the Triumph Inspiration Award and winning first prize for a swimwear collection designed for Gilly Hicks. Lived in Switzerland working in the Brand Management department at Triumph International during placement year, working across a variety of areas including range planning, product development and marketing communications. Also has experience in lingerie retail working at luxury label Myla London, using product knowledge and doing fittings to meet customer needs and wants.

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Maria is a London based fashion jewellery designer, who graduated The London College of Fashion (2013) with a BA in Fashion Jewellery. Originally Maria took a foundation course at Central St Martin's in Art and Design, where she intended to embark on a career in Women's wear. However after some mentoring and self realization, Maria discovered that her true passion and talents were in jewellery design. During her time spent at LCF Maria developed her own style of design based on organic life and shapes taken from nature, combined with a mystical element of life forms from outer space. This unique combination led to a creative final project which she is very proud to present. Through experimentation Maria learned to use digital technology such as rapid prototyping, which enabled her to create the pieces that she had envisaged. Maria's graduate collection was inspired by nature and a curiosity of what lies beneath in the ocean together with the same curiosity for what exists beyond planet Earth. The final pieces are based on a mythical sea creature which was made with black lacquered plastic and Swarovski crystals. email: mariasokolyanskaya@gmail.com

"My Heart, My Fellow Traveller" Spring.Summer.2014 | Story telling, through colour and craft | Having been in the media quite regularly, for all the wrong reasons, Pakistan seems to have built a notorious reputation. The international media highlights suicide attacks on military and civilian population, the backbreaking inflation, growing unemployment rate and the country’s fiscal debt. There is hardly any media coverage about the positive aspects of the country.. The verse by a notable Pakistani poet, Faiz Ahmed Faiz “My Heart, My Fellow Traveller” symbolizes all those things a heart contains within it, encompassing them as we go. The place you call home and the places you have been are impossible to let go of, and it is that experience the concept has been concieved from. Having moved to the UK from Pakistan eight years ago, the aspects of Mashaal’s homeland that were once mundane and ‘everyday’ now seem extraordinary. Through the collection there is an attempt to take the viewer on a journey through Pakistan’s visual culture, looking at the array of features that go unnoticed. Mashaal’s love for everything Pakistani, has provided the chance to open up the richly layered culture of Pakistan to a global audience. The collection aims to act as a narrative between Pakistan and the world, bridging the gap between perception and reality. Pakistani visual culture has been researched in depth focusing on mass culture comprising of communication through image and typography, advertising and in particular the phenomenon of Pakistani truck art. Drawings with the wrong hand to maintain the naivety of the subjects were screen printed, further combined with digital print, flock and hand embroidered french knots to create innovative and modern pieces. | Education | London College of Fashion Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles ( Sep 2010-present)

A Fashion Textile student with an off-beat approach to surface design, creating innovative wearable fabrics and garments out of unconventional materials. INSANE IN THE MEMBRANE “We felt the degeneration of our own bodies and the erosion of our self-confidence. MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

2006-2009 ; (BA) Fashion design and technology Womenswear 2012-2013 ; (MA) Fashion design and technology Menswear AIM The work in this project aims to understand that through the past, people would revitalize and reconstruct their life. In fantastic painful memories can be turned into pleasurable ones. It may indeed be questioned whether we have any memories at all from our childhood: memories relating to our childhood may be all that we possess. – Sigmund Freud, “screen Memories” Fashion and textile is becoming a centre of the study of new materials and techniques. Science and fashion is in symbiotic relation; normally they combine to attain better function, with this purpose in mind, I would like to apply other fields such as science and biology into the fashion to invent new design. Such new experiment and project seemed more encouraged to boost up the market since the commercial shrinkage and was able to express myself more conceptually. Variation of my experience and knowledge will become important contributor to other labels and companies in the future. www.yunjeongyang.com
