"The local outsider" The story is started from a 75 minute-long awareness-raising documentary about Lao Hmong and my personal feeling after a Paris vacation in 2012. "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand explain what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers ~ over 30 years after the Vietnam War ended Link:http://www.sommerfilms.org/documentaries/Hmong/index.php Have you ever trapped in gypsies gold ring scam? It makes me concern about the reason behind after I have met more then eight gypsies scam artist in one day. They are all suffering from extremely poor living standard, negative social stereotype and enforce removal from their home. In order to express my concern and intention to rise public awareness. Final Major collaborative project- Good night little one Good Night Little One is a comprehensive collaborative A/W13 collection created by two textiles students specialising in knitwear and embroidery. The collection’s theme is derived from childhood imagination studied through psychological, sociological and visual expressions. The research explores the naïve innocence of children’s minds and how children transform their thoughts into art. This research is a literal manifestation of such a theme and imagery. It will juxtapose and contrast children’s drawing and childlike modern art to create a four piece unisex collection that focuses on each of the team member’s signature style and love of colour and textures.

"Open-Minded" collection, Womenswear designer Yui Tai originally from Hong Kong just graduated at London College of Fashion. She drew inspiration from artist Leigh Bowery to compare with the fashion world and discover the human body distortion to finding her own aesthetic of beauty. Amazed by the surreal body structure, exaggerate volume and unique proportion, the designers first start to play with original human body shape and using layers of wadding combine with leather to expand her own surreal silhouette from this collection. more work coming soon. designer - YUI TAI photographer - Sharon Salad Lee photo editor :Sharon Salad Lee hair and make up artist: Jihye Sim model: Sammie.G For more information and press enquiries please contact: kayuitai@gmail.com website: http://kayuitai.com/

„Into Smithereens“ (2012) My practice has been formed by a strong fascination for delicately hand-crafted textiles, sophisticated finishes on artisanal pieces and dainty, ornate detailing. A deep admiration for the elaborate performance of traditional craftsmanship and the attention that is put into garments made by hand, influenced me to develop an own approach, that links the detailed complexity of decorative crafts in a direct way to the construction of the garment. Into Smithereens is a series of eight sculptural womenswear silhouettes, focussing on a personal enhancement of the decorative craft of „Macramé” in combination with soft leather qualities. The aim was to fully grasp the properties of both of those elements and to challenge their common, mostly two-dimensional use. In doing so, daring shapes and hybrid-solutions in between pattern cutting and three-dimensional knotting emerged. The silhouettes and shapes are formed by the interplay of movement in between body and dress, creating architectural shapes and almost topographical heights& depths. The incorporated, spatial constructions offer features for suspending and merging arms and hair into the garments, allowing body and garment to intertwine. All garments are carefully crafted, each leather band cut separately and every knot hand-tied. The final voluminously bold appearance and weight, stands in a fascinating contrast to the dozens of fine, detailed knots each piece is built of. I took inspiration from traditional folkloristic garments from my birthplace Romania and the artisanal context they are produced in. This can be seen in the use of material, choice of technique, as well as the design of the garments. This collection also may show, that historic crafts or the common use of the material leather can still be explored in original and contemporary ways. Picking up on traditional approaches and combining loose ends in unusual ways created new solutions that go beyond previous references. The collection is inspired by the smooth curves and linear elements of 60’s furniture, smooth shiny wooden panels that sit next to upholstered bright hues in coarse Meltons. Concrete poured buildings with rounded edges, curved openings & material contrasts. The collection plays with proportion & texture contrasts. Opposing textures sit alongside each other, a shiny patent leather tops a fluffy angora, a juxtaposition that emphasises both textures. Heritage fabrics are central to the design concept. She aims to create wearable fashion that is relevant to women today. Colour plays a key part in all her work, taking prominence in both her garments and her editorial work. Taking inspiration ranging from the early Opium Dens. The vivid hues of the high and the dark greys of the lows gave me a colour distortion which is reflected in my silk digital prints. ± AW/13 COLLECTION LOOKBOOK PHOTOGRAPHY - Tamzin Haughton HAIR & MAKEUP - Marie Bruce MODEL - Rachel Christianos STYLIST - Rita Shi ± AW/13 COLLECTION LINE UP PHOTOGRAPHY - Hanna Hillier HAIR & MAKEUP - Amber Pitkin MODEL - Amber Pitkin ± INTERNING Richard Nicoll May 2012 - July 2012 Giles Deacon November 2011 - March 2012 Selfridges: Marketing Department July 2007 - August 2007 ± ACHIEVEMENTS The Shoreditch Fashion Show 2013 Photography by Vytautas Dranginis ± FEATURED Kaltblut Magazine - http://www.kaltblut-magazine.com/april-illyj-and-pipa/ The Savy Dresser - http://thesavvydresser.wordpress.com/interview/

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. ‘VASANT UTSAV. Celebration of spring’ a/w 2013 "A celebration is a public performance that marks an important event in the life of a person or a group", (Smithsonian Institution, 1982:p.61). It is an event where something peculiar or particular can be remembered and practiced every year. According to Turner (1981), during celebrations people think and feel more deeply than in everyday life. They express the meanings and values of their societies in special, often vivid ways. Among these is the creation of beautiful or striking objects, which exist only because humankind celebrates its own existence. My collection is a representation of these rituals and habits, in particular the fashions and colours worn and how these affect the clothes and garments worn from day to day. I come from and Indian family where much importance was given to festivals and their celebrations. The one season as well as festival which fascinated me was spring with all textured and coloured outfits worn during the celebrations. To further comprehend the scope of the concept and to continue the visualization into textures, designs, silhouettes and shapes I took this fascination and decided that I would expand it to cover the celebration of spring and see what different outfits were worn by different countries during their spring festivals that included: Spring Break, Holi, Easter, Gangaur, Gangasar mela, Pongal, Pujillay, Nowruz and Pagan. ‘VASANT UTSAV- SPRING CELEBRATION’ WHIICH IS INSPIRED AND DEVELOPED THROUGH INTENSIVE RESEARCH OF STREET WEAR, FOLK WEAR AND PRODUCTS, CUSTOMS CARRIED ON DURING THIS CELEBRATION. IMPORTANCE IS PLACED ON HIGH QUALITY FABRICS. METHODS SUCH AS FELTING AND SPECIALISED MACHINE KNITTING, GLASS BEADING HAVE BEEN INCORPORATED IN GARMENT MAKING. FMP project: Wabi-Sabi / Beyond Aesthetic"Wabi-Sabi is a beauty of things imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete, Its a beauty of things modest and humble. Its a beauty of things unconventional. " (Koren, 1994:7, Wabi-Sabi for Artists, Designers, Poets&Philosophers.) I aimed to apply Wabi-Sabi spirit into my fashion collection, Wabi-sabi is about the hidden beauty around our life, it reminded me of the weathered houses around my hometown, they are forgotten with sealed memory, each mark and texture on them representing the tale of memory, they are formed into a beautiful installation in the landscape with nature. I feel something special in them and took many photos in a trip back home, they are very inspiring for me, this is where I had started . The silhouette is based on that quality that wabi-sabi is about: Imperfect, Impermanent, incomplete. With the elements of deconstruction, the whole collection was inspired by wabi-sabi theory and from that, I started looking into the ruin architecture and the hidden details in the reverse tailor jacket. Deformity free is an Autumn/ Winter 2013 women knitwear high- end collection inspired by minority groups of people who has disability or illness that affects their appearances, in order make contrast and question nowadays’ “standard of beauty” created by the world’s society. In depth research further assisted the design development to explore the possibilities between a normal body carrying an abnormal feature garment- that represents the minority body shape, wearers are able to distort their garment optionally through the way they wish to wear it, result creates unexpected unique silhouettes after worn on body. The key concept of the collection: it is filled with deformity possibilities controlled by wearer, reflecting those who were naturally born impairment bodies can also be considered as a form of beauty within the fashion world and everyday society. ------------------------------------------------- Designer + Stylist: Jess Lin Photographer + Stylist: Jeanette Tang Model: Emily @ M+P Models Make up Artist: Mutsumi Shibahara
