BA (Hons) Technical Effects for Performance

I had spent a number of years working as an actress, theatre director and designer before deciding to train further at LCF in Technical Effects. During my three years of study, I have developed a range of skills in the designing and making of costumes, props and special effects for recorded and live performance. I am now looking to work in both the film and theatre industries and to expand my practical skills further under the guidance of experienced professionals. With a particular affinity for creature effects and puppetry, I am a confident and fast sculptor, mouldmaker, fabricator and finisher. Friendly and with a good sense of humour, I am eager to learn and always aim to push myself in every project I take on. I've had a wonderful three years working on projects at university as well as on professional projects for the BBC, London Fashion Week, English National Opera, various advertising campaigns and fringe theatre companies. I now look forward to this next exciting stage of my career. Please contact me at: suzi.battersby@gmail.com +44(0)7889178586

DASH SS13 Issue Cover

MA Fashion Journalism

DASH The illustrated fashion magazine DASH Magazine is a new bi-annual title that combines cutting-edge fashion editorial with traditional fashion illustration, bridging the gap between the hand rendered and digital. Collaborating with both, established illustrators and emerging talent across Europe, the US and Asia, the magazine allows its illustrators to breathe: they no longer inhabit the corners of horoscopes and shopping pages, but demonstrate and discuss their craft, and why fashion is such a brilliant subject to draw upon. But we’re not just an illustrated picture book. Our editorial perspective encompasses both high and low brow, current affairs, and has a slightly satirical world-view – this isn’t just a coffee table trophy, but a good read too. With an initial print run of 10'000 copies, Dash will be available for £6 from selected newsagents and booksellers. We are also keen to provide copies to industry tastemakers – especially those who commission illustration, because we feel this is an art form worth preserving in a digital age. Facts & Figures: Bi-annual London-based, beautifully made high fashion print with a strong focus on creative fashion imagery. The first issue of DASH Magazine, released on 15th February 2012, features the work of illustrators such as François Berthoud, Meriç Canatan, Spiros Halaris, Patrick Morgan and many others. Print run: 10'000 copies Website: http://dashmagazine.net/ Twitter: @DASHMagTweet

Zoe is a London based textile designer for fashion and accessories, specialising in embroidered textiles for both Menswear and Womenswear. Zoe flourishes in a creative environment and is constantly engaging in opportunities to expand and enhance an innate artistic flair. An attraction to decoration and a strong awareness of colour and aesthetics, stem from Zoe's intrinsic desire to enhance and develop a naive-leaning style, drawing on aspects of global cultures both old and new. In particular, Zoe is extremely passionate about colour, constantly seeking inspiration in order to manipulate and embellish a wide range of vibrant and exuberant textile materials. Zoe's recent textile collection is based on 60s nostalgia and children's artwork. It aims to regenerate fabric surfaces that are innovative and intense, through her play with beautiful hues of metallic, vibrant colours and bold shape. LCF womenswear student Man Yim and Zoe, have recently collaborated for their FMP photoshoot. Man Yin's collection drew on gypsy culture, also incorporating sequin textiles. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

A Surface Textiles for Fashion student specializing in embroidery and embellishment. ‘Medicate Me’ is a high-end ready to wear womenswear collection, designed with the intention of retailing during Spring/Summer 2014. This collection demonstrates the collision of contemporary and traditional approaches to medicine, through the exploration of Native American culture and advances in scientific medicine. The collection draws upon a textile tradition, and transforms it to demonstrate a clinical aesthetic which will appeal to the contemporary consumer. Exploration of new materials has allowed for highly creative and innovative textile development through embroidery processes, that reflect on traditional craftsmanship, whilst evoking a clinical and medicinal aesthetic. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Oksana Anilionyte I would like to thank Saga Furs for a wonderful sponsorship. Collection is based on idea of a soft control. The collection is an investigation into inter-relation of minimalism and modern women. I found my inspiration in Michelangelo Antonioni films L’Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961), Eclipse (1962) and Il deserto rosso (1964). His films concentrate on how the modern world influence people and their feelings. Personal feelings, doubts, moods are substance of the films. The works and processes of Robert Morris, Tony Cragg and Daniel Arsham sculptures and abstract painting of Dale Frank served as the initial inspiration for the silhouette, colour, texture and details of the collection. The aim was to mix different techniques and inspirations to reach new and unexpected levels. I embraced the complexities and simplicities by different techniques to reinvent a version of femininity. Robert Morris felt sculptures led to create new ways of using seams to express the fluidity of line. The collection is a lot about the lines that are so pure, so clear, that they convey simplicity in their perfection. The purity is combined with texture that comes from tufting embroidery and soft fur to create a new level of feelings that garments create when touched. A dialogue between time and timelessness runs through the progression of the minimalist aesthetic which is felt in fluidity of seam lines. The collection incorporates a range of luxury fabrics (cashmere, wool, silk, fur, leather) to examine the balance between textures, silhouette and a purity of line. BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

My background is well reflected in my work, through simple lines and attention to detail inspired from the scandinavian atmosphere of Norway. I think of design as a development of a product that is in one way or another, better or more innovative than similar products previously offered. I begin developing a product with the same fundamental principals, no matter what it may be. These principals are; innovation, function and simplicity. From there, it is important that the product complies with all necessary aspects of the modern life, and bring true value to the user. A very valuable source of inspiration for me is the legendary product designer, Dieter Rams. I will happily call myself a modernist from the same era as Mr. Rams, where I believe this correspond well with the scandinavian principals of design. Taking a closer look at my background, there are a few sides in which I highly appreciate having experienced. One being a year of national service in the Norwegian Royal Guard, where I operated as a corporal supporting the officers in their training of new recruits to become infantrymen. This experience gave me strong skills in self discipline, team work, time management and straight forward communication. A year I would not be without and keep referring back to in everything I do. Secondly, coming from a hard working family, where the job plays an important part of life, has imbedded me with the same values. Achieving my goals and always deliver the work of my best abilities to employers and clients, is what drives me to put all my effort in what I do. Having been in work ever since I was 15, next to school and college, is certainly a result of that and has prepared me for my working life. For my final major project in BA Bespoke Tailoring, I have put all of these values and learning into the products created. I very much view the collection as individual items, developed to serve a purpose to the wearer in which they can best preform in their daily lives. Through the collection I hope to showcase the attention to detail, functionality and quality that I stand for, and also my ability to transfer the principals of design to a variety of products. This is to highlight my career path as a product developer, with a focus on products for the luxury industry. See more at www.andreasfeet.com

"The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. Blue is the color of longing for the distances you never arrive in, for the blue world." - Rebecca Solnit Travellers of this new century, migrate by option and desire to capture the changes of the world. The denim, this large portion of the project, connotes a democratic tradition and the appeal of the globalized world. BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Geo Deco Collection For the 'Geo Deco Collection' I was inspired by light. There's a great energy as the sun shines in the day and when lights glow in the dark. I'm fascinated by light, and as it moves how it changes shapes, reflects and refracts. As the sun shines through coloured glass, its a delight as the hues of colours flood in its moving path. The sun mixes with water and oils to create spectrums of colour and It makes us feel happy, alive and awake... I use layers of different coloured light conducting perspex, mixed with mirrors, brass and in some pieces, LEDs. As the Jewellery moves, light catches the layers of material absorbing the lights energy, enhancing the colours as they conduct and glow brightly catching the eye. I work hard with the materials to get a great finish, to give it a polished, shiny, glassy effect and top it with brass to enrich and make it shine golden. The jewellery collection are individual pieces of art... They are structured and made to capture and entertain its audience. I like the pieces to have extra dimensions. The Jewellery is new and innovative, yet people connect as they see and find familiarities and memories within. pikkalili@live.co.uk GALLERIES MOCO LOCO Galleries http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2012/10/15/gallery-beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery.php THE ARAM GALLERY http://www.thearamgallery.org/next/ XHIBIT 2011 http://www.boidus.co.uk/?p=2755 DESIGN CATWALK http://www.designcatwalk.com/lili-colley-enlighted-jewellery/ SEE/SAW/SEEN http://www.seesawseen.co.uk/ DeTnK http://www.detnk.com/node/12050 DESIGN WEEK http://www.designweek.co.uk/whats-on/demystifying-beautiful-objects/3035438.article http://mocoloco.com/galleries/gallery/beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery/ PRESS DRAPERSonline http://www.drapersonline.com/blogs/unzipped/lcfs-college-shop-not-a-pencil-sharpener-in-sight/5041799.article Londonist http://londonist.com/2012/10/today-london-college-of-fashion-shop-opens.php GLAMUK http://glam.co.uk/2012/09/its-back-to-college-time/ COMPANY Magazine http://www.company.co.uk/fashion/news/london-college-fashion-pop-up-shop LDN Fashion http://www.ldnfashion.com/london-fashion-news/london-college-of-fashions-pop-up-college-shop/ Timeout Magazine WGSN http://wgsn.tumblr.com/post/30987031794 Elle UK.com http://m.elleuk.com/fashion/shopping-blog/the-lcf-college-shop-returns Viora Magazine http://www.vioromagazine.it/photogallery/ Dew Magazine http://www.dewmagazine.com/issuu/06newworld.html http://elegiac-circus.tumblr.com/post/31019347447/lili-colley http://pinterest.com/thedefiant/magazine-volume-1-5-future-bioculture-aw12-ss13/ - Style Bubble http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/shoes-n-things.html · Tatler.com Catwalk review with emphasis on VIP and Celebs http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/1 - Vogue.co.uk http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/06/29/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show - Evening Standard http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion/all-the-trimmings-london-fashion-graduates-prove-they-have-a-bright-future-7898848.html?origin=internalSearch - Fashion156.com http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ · Style Bubble Susie Lau’s influential fashion blog– Catwalk highlights: http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/hackney-house-antics.html · Catwalk Queen Catwalk show review: http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2012/07/london_college_6.html · Dash Magazine online Catwalk show review http://www.fashiondash.net/?p=3226 · Adorn Girl Fashion Blog: http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-exhibition-2012/ Exhibition review http://adorngirl.com/robert-wun-fashion-designer/ spotlight on Robert Wun http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-catwalk-2012/ Catwalk show review http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-2012-catwalk-backstage/ Backstage images · Luxsure French luxury magazine: http://www.luxsure.fr/2012/07/01/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show-2012/ · Fashion Bite (Fashion blog) Catwalk show review: http://fashionbite.co.uk/2012/07/04/london-college-of-fashion-runway-show-class-of-2012/#more-11721 · Better Never Than Late (blog) Image Gallery of Backstage at Catwalk Show: http://bntl.co.uk/2012/07/03/backstage-lcf-press-show/ · Fashion Insight (Trade publication) Catwalk review http://fashioninsightfeatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/london-college-of-fashion-ba-season.html · EStyler Magazine Image gallery of all designers: http://estylermagazine.com/interviews · The Upcoming (fashion and news blog) Catwalk show review: http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2012/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-and-fda-show/ · Now Fashion Catwalk show image gallery: http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html

I strive to achieve a theatrical and conceptual aesthetic shaped with an elegance and wearability. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Experimental textile creative embracing new technologies and merging them with old crafts; I create pieces fusing knit, embroidery, laser cutting and textile manipulation and have a strong understanding of proportion and the body with the ability to engineer and construct embellishment to enhance design on the body. All pieces designed and constructed are inspired by architecture and structure in nature. Exoskeletons and skeletons in particular have constantly been a point of fascination and through layering, contrasting and distorting my inspirations I push the development further via context, use of materials and scale. The focus is always on the textile first, the final design being a result of the 3D textile experimentation process. The 3D textiles are also developed digitally layering with illustration creating another unique way of interpreting and merging developments.
