BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

Ema Ranger is a Menswear Designer with a strong focus on utility and sportswear. Designs are a modern take on nineties street wear trends and are designed to be worn by people of “the street”. Garments are designed to be unforgettable, impactful and interesting whilst also being well made, wearable and luxurious. The wearer should be able to take any garment into their wardrobe and work it with all of their favorite looks. Garments are often made from unconventional materials that wouldn’t usually be found within a collection of this kind, this is to try and break the boundaries between “street wear” and high end menswear. “Xcloose” 2012/13 This collection was based on the “street “and the aim was to express the voice of someone who would otherwise be left unheard. The garments were designed for people of the “street”, rather than using them purely for inspiration, and the idea is that they would be able to style key pieces within the collection to express how they feel. Innovative materials and processes have been combined with nineties sportswear inspiration to create an updated version of the original “street” trends. Graffiti and underground music also inspired the design of this trans- seasonal sporty collection for 2012/13. BA (Hons) Fashion Contour

Lingerie specialist focused on brand and design. Graduate collection is inspired by Tereza’s character in the novel ‘The Unbearable Lightness of Being’ by Milan Kundera. The range tells the story of her moments of ‘lightness’ and ‘weight’ through use of fabric, silhouette and colour. Bone castings grow out from seam lines that alter the body’s silhouette, exploring the answer to Tereza’s question when she wonders, “if various parts of her body began to grow and shrink and [she] no longer looked like herself, would she still be Tereza?”. Enthusiastic about creating a brand identity that is relevant and offers an experience - telling a story through products that focus on detailing, particularly using hand finished techniques, to create appropriate yet unexpected designs for the target market and consumer. Previously worked on industry projects during studies, both in commercial and luxury areas, including participating in the Triumph Inspiration Award and winning first prize for a swimwear collection designed for Gilly Hicks. Lived in Switzerland working in the Brand Management department at Triumph International during placement year, working across a variety of areas including range planning, product development and marketing communications. Also has experience in lingerie retail working at luxury label Myla London, using product knowledge and doing fittings to meet customer needs and wants.

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. 'Beauty Pressure' is a new collection by innovative knitwear designer Katie Witham. The collection takes inspiration from societies obsession with changing, altering and improving bodies to achieve cultural perceptions of beauty. Katie studied this recent obsession looking closely at body building, dieting, scarification and cosmetic surgery while focusing on the most extreme and grotesque cases. Knitwear has been created and designed to deliberately distort the body in order to show the effect that surgery and diet can have on the female form. Sculptural over sized silhouettes feature strongly in the collection, Katie studied restricted garments worn by performance artist Leigh Bowery and huge sculptures by Henry Moore resulting in highly unique silhouettes for knitwear design. African scarification and etchings in paintings by Pablo Picasso inspired Katie to create bold jacquard patterns. Vibrant primary colours lay next to soft creams and shades of grey which was inspired by Hans Bellmer's photographs of mutated dolls. Garments in the collection show case over sized strategically placed sock heels knitted with chunky felted wool. Other garments consist of paint covered cottons which use Katie's own new knitting techniques and expressive use of paint. Katie was selected for The British Fashion Council graduate preview day 2013, resulting in her work being photographed and shown in the London College of Fashion 2013 annual. Katie has also been selected to show her work at the prestigious London College of Fashion Press Exhibition 2013. Other achievements include being nominated by her tutors for Texprint 2013. MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Yan Yu Cheung, Octo set as a metaphor of fashion alchemist in life. She fascinates in the new textile technique continuously season by season which is a scientist endeavour for the philosopher’s stone. She aims to create a trend called "antique innovation". It is a step backward from the historical technology to the new thing. Not just superficial digital technique can fulfill it. She also states that inheriting the history is a responsibility from a designer. In her MA Menswear Collection, all the boys are her alchemical homunculus. Since alchemy is a spiritual topic which is different from the shallow inspiration from photography or art work. The conscious and subconscious approach is the indispensable process from ancient literature in alchemy to relative design development. Interpreting the elusive concept in text to actual thing is conducted by understanding the balanced way in alchemy, no matter the change from metal to gold or the creation of philosopher’s stone. All the process they devised which proceeded by separation and reunification such as liquefaction, which transform solid to liquid in alchemy. Something was devoured and reformed theoretically. She made change on traditional cable stitch on knitwear, a chemical process by hand adopted on the surface to create a new image. Besides, original form of suit jacket faded on shirt or kimono, so as to create the imperfect chaotic stage of cheap metal gold making. The garment paused the combination from two substance into a compand in order to project an innovative cutting. "The interpretation of dreams is a great art." If you are curious how to develop the unique pattern cutting or her signature knitwear technique, Please click Octo’s personal website for portfolio Website : http://www.octocheung.com/ E-mail : info@octocheung.com

Deco Gold Necklace

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Geo Deco Collection For the 'Geo Deco Collection' I was inspired by light. There's a great energy as the sun shines in the day and when lights glow in the dark. I'm fascinated by light, and as it moves how it changes shapes, reflects and refracts. As the sun shines through coloured glass, its a delight as the hues of colours flood in its moving path. The sun mixes with water and oils to create spectrums of colour and It makes us feel happy, alive and awake... I use layers of different coloured light conducting perspex, mixed with mirrors, brass and in some pieces, LEDs. As the Jewellery moves, light catches the layers of material absorbing the lights energy, enhancing the colours as they conduct and glow brightly catching the eye. I work hard with the materials to get a great finish, to give it a polished, shiny, glassy effect and top it with brass to enrich and make it shine golden. The jewellery collection are individual pieces of art... They are structured and made to capture and entertain its audience. I like the pieces to have extra dimensions. The Jewellery is new and innovative, yet people connect as they see and find familiarities and memories within. pikkalili@live.co.uk GALLERIES MOCO LOCO Galleries http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2012/10/15/gallery-beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery.php THE ARAM GALLERY http://www.thearamgallery.org/next/ XHIBIT 2011 http://www.boidus.co.uk/?p=2755 DESIGN CATWALK http://www.designcatwalk.com/lili-colley-enlighted-jewellery/ SEE/SAW/SEEN http://www.seesawseen.co.uk/ DeTnK http://www.detnk.com/node/12050 DESIGN WEEK http://www.designweek.co.uk/whats-on/demystifying-beautiful-objects/3035438.article http://mocoloco.com/galleries/gallery/beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery/ PRESS DRAPERSonline http://www.drapersonline.com/blogs/unzipped/lcfs-college-shop-not-a-pencil-sharpener-in-sight/5041799.article Londonist http://londonist.com/2012/10/today-london-college-of-fashion-shop-opens.php GLAMUK http://glam.co.uk/2012/09/its-back-to-college-time/ COMPANY Magazine http://www.company.co.uk/fashion/news/london-college-fashion-pop-up-shop LDN Fashion http://www.ldnfashion.com/london-fashion-news/london-college-of-fashions-pop-up-college-shop/ Timeout Magazine WGSN http://wgsn.tumblr.com/post/30987031794 Elle UK.com http://m.elleuk.com/fashion/shopping-blog/the-lcf-college-shop-returns Viora Magazine http://www.vioromagazine.it/photogallery/ Dew Magazine http://www.dewmagazine.com/issuu/06newworld.html http://elegiac-circus.tumblr.com/post/31019347447/lili-colley http://pinterest.com/thedefiant/magazine-volume-1-5-future-bioculture-aw12-ss13/ - Style Bubble http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/shoes-n-things.html · Tatler.com Catwalk review with emphasis on VIP and Celebs http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/1 - Vogue.co.uk http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/06/29/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show - Evening Standard http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion/all-the-trimmings-london-fashion-graduates-prove-they-have-a-bright-future-7898848.html?origin=internalSearch - Fashion156.com http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ · Style Bubble Susie Lau’s influential fashion blog– Catwalk highlights: http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/hackney-house-antics.html · Catwalk Queen Catwalk show review: http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2012/07/london_college_6.html · Dash Magazine online Catwalk show review http://www.fashiondash.net/?p=3226 · Adorn Girl Fashion Blog: http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-exhibition-2012/ Exhibition review http://adorngirl.com/robert-wun-fashion-designer/ spotlight on Robert Wun http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-catwalk-2012/ Catwalk show review http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-2012-catwalk-backstage/ Backstage images · Luxsure French luxury magazine: http://www.luxsure.fr/2012/07/01/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show-2012/ · Fashion Bite (Fashion blog) Catwalk show review: http://fashionbite.co.uk/2012/07/04/london-college-of-fashion-runway-show-class-of-2012/#more-11721 · Better Never Than Late (blog) Image Gallery of Backstage at Catwalk Show: http://bntl.co.uk/2012/07/03/backstage-lcf-press-show/ · Fashion Insight (Trade publication) Catwalk review http://fashioninsightfeatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/london-college-of-fashion-ba-season.html · EStyler Magazine Image gallery of all designers: http://estylermagazine.com/interviews · The Upcoming (fashion and news blog) Catwalk show review: http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2012/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-and-fda-show/ · Now Fashion Catwalk show image gallery: http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html

"I shall not speak of the nameless / but show them to you / how different they are / and how beautiful." from "What is man?" by Walter Kauffmann My interest in fashion is parallel with my interest in human nature. Fashion is necessary to culture and something that we use to represent who we are and what we believe in. By taking inspiration from cultures and religions from the East and West, both modern and traditional - my work explores the growing trend of cosmopolitanism and emphasizes the integration, differences, similarities and overall the equality of people. _____________________________ work experience: may 2012 - aug 2012 / Studio Intern / ThreeAsFour / New York sept 2011 / Dresser at LFW / Marios Schwab / London sept 2010 - jan 2011 / Emrboidery Intern / Alexander McQueen/London june 2010 - sept 2010 / Studio Intern / Fanny & Jessy / London aug 2009 - sept 2009 / Studio Intern / Giles Deacon / London _________________________________________________ contact: email chris.jayne.mckay@gmail.com

Liberty Print Accessory

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Fashion Accessories An accessory is an item, which was used to contribute to the wearer’s outfit in a secondary manner, but it is different now. Accessories are now a relevant and most important part of the look. With the restraint and linear geometry of the clothes this year, there is every reason to go a little askew when it comes to accessories. Fashion accessories are generally categorised into two areas; those that are carried and those that are worn. At Floral Wardrobe we provide with an extraordinary collection of accessories that can be worn to enhance the look. We have a magnificent line of scarves, neckpieces, belts and waistcoats. Our accessories are mix of ethnic embellishment, embroidery and metallic’s. The collection is inspired from Indian and Moroccan handwork with a colour palette of nudes and bright. Highlight of our collection is the Fabric; the entire collection is on Liberty Art Fabrics. We have carefully chosen the most popular classic prints and worked around them. Liberty Art fabric, which is also known as “Tana Lawn”, is one of the finest quality cotton, as good as any silk.

MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

As an adult, one’s profession is in most cases an integral part of one’s identity. Be it to be able to provide for loved-ones or personal fulfilment in a career: WHAT YOU DO IS WHO YOU ARE. In establishing one’s identity clothing plays an important role. Using work clothes as an example, one can observe for instance how vital a policeman’s uniform or a judge’s robe is for consolidating their respective identity and being respected in a profession. As an example to highlight and research CORRELATIONS BETWEEN ONE’S PROFESSION, IDENTITY AND CLOTHING this project focuses on dissectors and medical students from 1890 to 1930. In the case of the dissectors forming an identity was ambivalent. There is a huge discrepancy between the fact that in practicing their skills their profession would be beneficial for the collective good on the one hand, and on the other hand how dissectors were actually seen by the general public. Feared by the public as being butchers, they had to operate in secrecy, conducting dissections on bodies of people that never agreed on being dissected. For though without any doubt it was forbidden to let the secrets of the dissecting rooms become public the ubiquity of existing photographs is remarkable. It seems experiencing the act of dissection was so exceptional one had to capture it in a photograph. They are strongly bonded in fraternity or companionship through the experience of dissection. The exclusive character of their profession led them to be disconnected from society, yet being united in their own collective, in which they form their identity. These aspects isolate these people as a specific group that can be analysed through their uniform.
