K, [HyungTae Kim]. SS 14 - ON THE RUN at BRIGHTON FASHION WEEK. 8 LOOKS Coming more soon. E-MAIL klothing@hotmail.com "A/W 2013 Generation." A/w 2013 "The idea of K A/w 13 collection is to explore the sensitive relationship between youth-cultures and parental culture." My concept is to look at the contrasts between the themes of 'Father/Tradition, Youth/rebellious and Uniform/War. What inspired me were the memory and feelings I had when I was an adolescent boy. The memory of trying my Father's clothes is unforgettable. What remains deep inside of me is the feeling of warmth and comfort. To more accurately describe, it was like wearing a very warm blanket in a very cold and lonely winter. This feelings got stronger when I was trying his military jacket. I wanted to deliver that feeling of warmness of oversized khaki fabrics whilst having the adolescent boy's rebelliousness attitude that I had as I grow up, as his jacket getting smaller."Hyung tae Kim’s was also great – it was a very good season.” Backpacks featured strongly in a great deal of collections, particularly in Kim’s who presented low-slung oversized backpacks combined with large, long coats that looked reminiscent of ‘typical’ father’s clothing but with a younger fresher vibe" - Hilary Alexander Academic London College of Fashion 2009 -2012 BA(Hons) FDT Menswear FT Northumbria University 2006-2009 BA(Hons)FDT Fashion Design Foundation Degree Work Experience Reworked [london] 2009 - 2011 [VINTAGE, ARMY CLOTHE REWORKED SHOP] ASSIATANT Diorasa 2007-2008 [Tailor shop] TAILOR ASSISTANT Press: http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/fashion/catwalk/AW2012/ReadyToWear/london/london_college_of_fashion_-_ba/full-length-photos -http://www.gomoneyways.com/?p=65953 -http://jaci-mag.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/untitled-ss-2013-mens-collection-acne.html -http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2012/live/ -http://disordermagazine.com/lcfs-upcoming-talent/style/ -http://www.flickr.com/photos/53179772@N06/7490122378/ -http://fashionstyleology.com/hyung-tae-kim-k-aw-2013-lcf-ba-show/ -http://blogs.fashion.arts.ac.uk/snapshot/2012/06/29/last-night-in-shoreditch/ -http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html -http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/25 - http://www.catwalking.com/ -http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2012/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/page/7# -http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ Contact. Illustration: Flaccid Flora: Nina de Yorke

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

© 2013 Victoria Rowley An energetic and open-minded print designer who obsesses over experimental applications and illustrative drawing. With a trademark delicate hand, exciting subjects are florid and evocative. 8=========D My recent work, in a rather farcical and juvenile manner, set out to explore themes of fleshy surfaces and sexuality. The influence of imagery from the photography of Pierre et Gilles, and film such as Henri-Georges Clouzot’s L’Enfer, and that of the German Expressionist genre, led me to respond to the graphic compositions and carnal imagery using harsh contrasts of colour; over-saturated and suffused. Abstract interpretations with screen printing using devore, discharge and procion techniques onto silk velvet and organzas, intended to replicate the real sensuality and lustre of the skin. Using alternative methods in response to my findings, enlarged and distorted images of glitter and wax as an initial layer to the composition, was adopted in keeping to the uncanny as a regular motif. Interacting more exaggerated motifs of pearlescent lemon and lavender colours, with dark harmonious earth shades to make the smooth textures advance, and to radiate in a hypnotic quality. Such frivolity having integrated into print development, seeming to convey a very stylistic aesthetic, I wanted further exploration to circulate around a discussion on taste. It was all the more enticing to use figurative, hand-rendered applications to fully utilize the provoking combinations of imagery I was sourcing. As a reaction against notions of good taste, bad taste is fully explored through archetypical motifs of the grotesque and the beautiful, with the writings of Umberto Eco being of key influence. The outraged Eco’s humorously dry take on objects of American ‘Hyper-real’, (almost perfectly fake ornamental replicas of icons in European arts/culture), inspired me to juxtapose the crude imagery with more traditional academic art. Florid pencil drawings of botanics and genitalia with leafy foliage have evolved into monstrous print placements. Ref. to the Cockasaurus below: cock·a·saurus [cok-a-sawr-us] n (Earth Sciences / Palaeontology) any large carnivorous bipedal dinosaur of the genus Cockasaurus, common in North America in upper Jurassic and Cretaceous times: suborder Theropoda (theropods) chracteristics: the body of a tyrannosaurus rex and the head of a penis. "The local outsider" The story is started from a 75 minute-long awareness-raising documentary about Lao Hmong and my personal feeling after a Paris vacation in 2012. "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand explain what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers ~ over 30 years after the Vietnam War ended Link:http://www.sommerfilms.org/documentaries/Hmong/index.php Have you ever trapped in gypsies gold ring scam? It makes me concern about the reason behind after I have met more then eight gypsies scam artist in one day. They are all suffering from extremely poor living standard, negative social stereotype and enforce removal from their home. In order to express my concern and intention to rise public awareness. " The local outsider" was born.A collection to promote ethnic harmony by rising awareness of two oppressed minority - Laos Hmong and EU-Roma. Me and Zoe Sterling have recently collaborated for the FMP photo shoot. Zoe's collection is based on 60s nostalgia and children's artwork. The heart bag

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development

The Mikelis ethos is to provide consumers with a new experience, by stimulating thoughts and emotions as we break the boundaries of fashion and cross into conceptual art. Desiring to have an effect in society with romantic and daring designs. Products are statement pieces, which aim to awaken the desired beauty in the beholder. All cultures have practiced sacrifice in one way or another, some cultures with more vehemence than others. Almost every human being, whether religious or not, throughout history has “sacrificed” or “offered” something in return for a goal. Whether sacrificing time, or in the extreme case of human beings, the concept of sacrifice has been with us since the beginning of time. Today’s society is far too removed from the origin of the word sacrifice i.e sacred- because of the omnipresent individualism that is embedded in consumerism. Similar to the Aztec belief that they were each a part of a ‘greater cycle, a repeated and recreated universe in which successive worlds were born, lived and died. Their part in this evolution of the world was temporary and transient. They were spokes of a wheel, which continually turned, essential but tiny part of a larger system. As individuals they were insignificant but their shared activity perpetuated their whole world and sustained the gods. The Human Sacrifice is a collection of luxury artefacts and accessories, which bridge the divide between sculpture and product. The creative designs are realised through the use of striking materials, traditional craftsmanship and modern technology, each piece skilfully crafted by a London artisan at an in house production studio resulting in a truly exclusive luxury product. Camel Coat - Geometric Composition of Avant-Garde Tailoring Collection 2013

FdA Tailoring

Joshua Jeffrey Millard, the Farmers son from Dorset has brought his rural routes to the city of London, where he has developed the ability through learning Bespoke and Production Tailoring techniques to give body to his fantasies. Fantasies of which correlate around the beauty of the female form and fuse his rural-urban layers of inspiration together to create unique, quality garments. ‘My ambition has always been to resuscitate the tradition of British pride and the attitude towards ones own appearance, in turn rejuvenating the spectacle of class and enabling my clientele to differentiate themselves from the masses’ He realises the importance of understanding construction when designing, hence from a young age he taught himself and practiced the skill of pattern cutting, and after finishing his A-Levels made the move to the metropolis of London in order to learn the fine art of tailoring, in both Bespoke and Production techniques. His relocation to London has made him susceptible to different cultures and given him an initial insight into the reality of modern life. This has resulted in a catalyst effect upon the maturity and complexity of his work, and with this effect occurring over an 18-month period he hopes to develop his technical ability even further on the BA Bespoke Tailoring degree he is to bridge onto this coming year.

Open for projects and collaborations specialising in leather handbags. My work is based on origami and the colours and textures seen in butterflies. The materials of the collection consists of leather and laser cut Perspex held in place by silver screws. Industrialism and nature is translated through the use of materials; two opposing ideas. The perspex represents fragility and the screws gives an industrious feel to it. The mood of the collection takes inspiration from minimalism seen in the clean lines and three dimensional forms. MEDICATEME_Sunglasses Collaboration with Sarah jane Cook of Spangled, Photography:Max Barnett, Model:Lucy@Next

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Olivia Howick is a Surface Textiles for Fashion student specializing in embroidery and embellishment, with a passion for transforming unexpected materials into luxurious fashion embellishment. Her graduate collection: ‘Medicate Me’ is a high-end ready to wear womenswear collection, designed with the intention of retailing during Spring/Summer 2014. This collection demonstrates the collision of contemporary and traditional approaches to medicine, through the exploration of Native American culture and advances in scientific medicine. The collection draws upon a textile tradition, and transforms it to demonstrate a clinical aesthetic which will appeal to the contemporary consumer. Exploration of new materials, in particular the use of PVC, has allowed for highly creative and innovative textile development through embroidery processes, that reflect on traditional craftsmanship, whilst evoking a clinical and medicinal aesthetic. Transforming materials is becoming an increasingly important aspect of Olivia’s work. This collection saw PVC hose pipes cut, dyed and stitched to become PVC beadwork. Combining this with satin stitch work and screen printed fabric, Olivia likes to work with both traditional aspects to textile design as well more unconventional material. Integral to Olivia’s practice is her illustration and drawing. Specializing in highly detailed hand rendered work, her illustration style is graphic, yet rich in textile inspired texture and detail. Olivia was selected as a finalist for the Nina de Yorke fashion illustration prize, and has also been shortlisted to compete to illustrate for the Maria Luisa website. Olivia has been selected for the LCF Press Exhibition 2013 and will be exhibiting a sculptural textile piece which demonstrates the concepts surrounding her Final Collection, as well as showcasing new textile development. Runway photos on London Fashion Week AW13/14

MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Yan Yu Cheung, Octo set as a metaphor of fashion alchemist in life. She fascinates in the new textile technique continuously season by season which is a scientist endeavour for the philosopher’s stone. She aims to create a trend called "antique innovation". It is a step backward from the historical technology to the new thing. Not just superficial digital technique can fulfill it. She also states that inheriting the history is a responsibility from a designer. In her MA Menswear Collection, all the boys are her alchemical homunculus. Since alchemy is a spiritual topic which is different from the shallow inspiration from photography or art work. The conscious and subconscious approach is the indispensable process from ancient literature in alchemy to relative design development. Interpreting the elusive concept in text to actual thing is conducted by understanding the balanced way in alchemy, no matter the change from metal to gold or the creation of philosopher’s stone. All the process they devised which proceeded by separation and reunification such as liquefaction, which transform solid to liquid in alchemy. Something was devoured and reformed theoretically. She made change on traditional cable stitch on knitwear, a chemical process by hand adopted on the surface to create a new image. Besides, original form of suit jacket faded on shirt or kimono, so as to create the imperfect chaotic stage of cheap metal gold making. The garment paused the combination from two substance into a compand in order to project an innovative cutting. "The interpretation of dreams is a great art." If you are curious how to develop the unique pattern cutting or her signature knitwear technique, Please click Octo’s personal website for portfolio Website : http://www.octocheung.com/ E-mail : info@octocheung.com

The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Statement | A London College of Fashion Womenswear Design student with a playful, humorous aesthetic, and a colourful outlook. Specific interest in contrasting unusual fabrics, textures and colour combinations, always creating juxtapositions and constantly challenging the eye. | Never too old to play dress up | The initial inspiration for this collection came from memories of my grandmother and her eclectic style, love of colour, print, hand made texture and all things maximal. Her individual style inspired an exploration deeper into the idea of personal identity and how clothes are used everyday to express feeling, personality and individuality. Particularly looking at this in terms of age and how age affects style and the ability to express oneself visually. This strong attraction to powerful individuality began an investigation into age and it's effect on style, identity and image. Looking closely at age gave a new insight into fashion and style and how this changes as we grow older, and the effect that society has on the ability to express identity through clothing the older we get. Researching into the effect that cheap mass production and fast fashion is having on our expression of individuality through clothing and the old idea of buying something to treasure instead of disposing of it when fashion moves on. This research unearthed some inspiring characters for whom despite their age everyday is an opportunity to play dress up. To be expressive visually and push boundaries that come with age and stereotype. To have the confidence and audacity to be completely themselves and only themselves, why be anything else? In particular 90 year old Ilona Royce Smithkin, who’s love and passion of expressing herself using colour inspired the idea of relishing colour and creating a powerfully colourful collection. A strong theme explored in this collection was the sense of idiosyncratic individuality, it was important to explore elements in a personal way and because of this the collection includes hand dyeing, with hand mixed dyes, hand spun wool and hand knitting, constantly referring back to an expression of individual style. The hand dyed and knitted garments are intergrated throughout the collection the soft, bubbly, fluffy uneven texture of the hand spun wool is juxtaposed with the slick shiny surface of metallic Lame`. Exploration of dyeing already coloured silk prints and creating these prints in new colourways creating a sense of personality. | Tea Party Photoshoot Credits | Make up - Virginia Bertolani Model - Kate Stephens Hair - Kim Wade Styling - Gianfranco Colla |Tablets of the Memory Fashion Film | Director / Designer : Felicity Gransden D.O.P. / Editor / Camera : Christopher Slater Model 1 : Kate Stephens Model 2 : Hannah Gilbert | Ladies of the Counterfeit credits | Director of photography - Colin Greenall Hair and Make up - Emily Franks and Hollie Lewis Models - Lo @ Union & Lexi @ Union Education- London College of Fashion BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear | September 2012 to present | London College of Fashion FDA Fashion Design Technology: Designer Pattern Cutter | September 2010 - June 2012 | London College of Fashion Fashion Portfolio | September 2009 - June 2010 | Work Experience- Mary Katrantzou Studio Intern/ Show Dresser | August 2012 - September 2012 | Press & Publications - Issue 5 | Pigeons & Peacocks The Shoreditch Fashion Show 2013 http://www.nssmag.com/fashion/4495/felicity-grandsen-first-collection Skills- Pattern Cutting Adobe Illustrator Adobe Photoshop Adobe InDesign Drawing and Technical Drawing [Hand and using Illustrator] Illustration Manufacture [Domestic and Industry machinery] Website - http://www.felicitygransden.com/ LCF First Move - http://my.lcffirstmove.co.uk/graduates/7175 Twitter - https://twitter.com/FGransden LinkedIn - http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/felicity-gransden/6a/a83/445
