BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

the disguise of the girls it is about love - it is about strangeness - it is about innocence - it is about playfulness The SS14 collection is inspired primarily by Charles Manson’s cult of brainwashed girls and combined with the concept of the masquerade, the savagery of African and European fancy dresses and the folklore of Frida Kahlo. It links the competing notions of raw and pretty, oversized and adjusted, opaque and transparent, weird and feminine, and dark and innocent. The Manson girls’ identity is given to the identity-less of the masquerade to hide, to change, to obscure and to deceive into a disguise. x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x Press LCF 2013 ANNUAL http://issuu.com/london_college_of_fashion/docs/sdt-annual-2013 Education London College of Fashion - 2010 - BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology - Womenswear Lasalle College - Montreal, Canada - 2006 - 2009 Technical diploma - Design, pattern-cutting and dressmaking Work Experience Erdem, London, UK - 05.2012 - 08.2012 Sample room assistant William Richard Green, London, UK - 07.2011 - 10.2011 Studio assistant Rudsak - Montreal, Canada - 06.2009 - 08.2010 Designer Credits LCF's 2013 press show preview photography/james rees - creative direction/rob phillips - beauty/pace chen - model/laura O’Grady at select model management (verve) untitled embroidery/natasha searls - model/mai stl the disguise of the girls photography/mark blower - beauty/jin ong - muse/christie corbally at nevs F&F embroidery/natasha searls - hat/daniel service - creative direction/rob phillips - photography/kasia wozniak - beauty/pace chen - muse/katharina at M+P i-D creative direction/rob phillips - photography/anthony john sayer - beauty/pace chen - muse/ines bizarro braided denim photography/chienYi wu - beauty/yura do - model/andrea chovanova at premier

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

A London based Textile Design student, specializing in embroidery and the manipulation of fabrics and incorporation of mixed media to form unusual and innovative materials. Recent collections have focused particularly on experimentation with Latex and its use as both an embellishment material and as a base fabric. I am fascinated by both the unusual and by traditional craft. My influences derive from multiple sources, including memory, the world and people around me, music, moments in time, decades of the past, form and light. These are explored and then refined through experimentation with the application of various media to a base textile. making statement pieces in classic shapes using traditional methods of construction with new contemporary materials. NOSTALGIA JUNKY 2013 A collection based upon the exuberance and creative attitudes of the 1970's focusing on the juxtaposition of glamour and decadence whilst promoting the contemporary need for sustainability. Conveyed through the imagery inspired by the lyrics of Led Zeppelin's internationally acclaimed rock ballad 'Stairway to Heaven'. The collection is based on an exploration and celebration of glorious flamboyancy and attitude as well as the avoidance of a throwaway culture. It aims to promote individuality and a more creative attitude in times of economic and social uncertainty, with the use of usually discarded materials or found objects and up-cycling them and combining them with top quality natural base fabrics; various weights of silk, Indian cotton, leather and suede and latex itself to create something beautiful, wearable and new. Currently my portfolio focuses on textiles for Womenswear. Future ambitions include designing for both Menswear and accessories while continuing to refine my existing working practices. Having bold and graphic design aesthetic, this collection aims to visually reflect the idea of taking things out of their originally sensitive and controversial contexts in order to create new ideas. By providing visuals of The Third Reich uniforms, graphic design and German Folk clothing, the collection tries to propose a concept, in which people look at things without automatically trying to connect them to their primarily negative connotations, but instead look at their visual impact. | E D U C A T I O N | BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear London College of Fashion 2012-2013 FdA Fashion Design Technology: Designer Pattern Cutter London College of Fashion 2010-2012 BTEC National Diploma: Art & Design (Fashion & Clothing) Lewisham College 2008-2010 | W O R K E X P E R I E N C E | Design & pattern cutting assistant tutor Design & Textiles Academy, Brady Arts Centre April - July 2013 Design & pattern cutting assistant tutor Design & Textiles Academy in association with Burberry, Brady Arts Centre August 2012 Studio intern Maria Grachvogel August - October 2011 Studio Intern Derek Lawlor October - December 2009 | E X T R A | Featured in The Lab Magazine online 2013 http://thelabmagazine.com/2013/06/21/estella/ Featured in LCF Annual 2013 http://issuu.com/london_college_of_fashion/docs/sdt-annual-2013 Showed at London Alternative Fashion Week 2009 & 2010 Finalist at Fashion Awareness Direct design competition 2009 Bronze & Gold Arts Awards 2008-2009 | C O N T A C T | Email: eglebujauskaite@gmail.com Website coming soon 07540761623 | C R E D I T S | British Fashion Council: Photography, James Rees Creative Direction, Rob Phillips Beauty, Pace Chen Nail Art, Lauren Michelle Pires Model, Alina at Select Loobook: Photography, Sara Magdi Bayoumi Hair & Make Up, Suze Smethurst Model, Elspeth at MOT Models The Lab Magazine online: Photography, Anya Holdstock Styling, Olimpia Liberti Hair & Make up, Adele Sanderson Model, Estella at Next

Chaemin. 2014. Leather layered Upper with 3D Printing

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design & Development

Chaemin Hong BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development This collection is for A/W 2013-14 and it consists of 10 different styles. The collection is inspired from animal’s bone. Concept Humankind is at the top of the food chain. The moment that human beings climb up to the top of that pyramid, they act as if they are completed unrelated to the food chain pyramid. Human beings observe the animals in the natural state on TV, and watch the animals’ survival instinct as if they are surprised. Bones of the animals, sources of protein, that were thrown away leave behind animal form. It is not like the animals disappeared: Instead, they were merely dismantled. When the bones re-combine to formulate a new form to create yet another creation, I wonder whether they could instill life into something new instead of merely serving as the remnant of the food chain. Combination of the dismantled bones. The concept that got started with the concept of new creations, sought to re-create the feel and shape by using diverse techniques. chaeminhong@gmail.com

Brand: ‘katalinarady’ The brand’s first capsule collection, Spirit, is designed for Autumn/Winter 2013/14. This collection is expected to make a strong first impact on customers and quickly establish an emotional connection. It creates a highly recognisable and memorable image for consumers. Spirit’s signature will be a new design aesthetic on lingerie sets; clear and innovative lines are executed to underline the brand’s ethereal and surreal qualities. The description of the brand is emotional reaction: neo romanticism reacting to this century’s technological revolution. The collection is designed for the 21st century woman bringing back the idealised, sensitive and fragile aspect of women. The overall message of the brand is to promote a refined and re-feminised woman; emphasising the power of sensual beauty. It represents shades and emotions, the fragile beauty and the dreamlike, theatrical, neo romantic mood. The Gift (2000). The scene where the main character, played by Cate Blanchett, is dreaming was an inspirational part of the film. A dreamlike background with lilies and trees, and her 19th century night gown impacted on the mood of the designs, and provided a definite picture; it also helped to link the ideas together. The see thorough montage of her silhouette and the trees immediately brought the concept of light, airy fabrics and modern vein like techniques. The garments are designed to extend the beauty of the body three-dimensionally and express fragile emotions on the outside as a continuous extension of elements, which reaches out from the physical body. The shadow idea transformed into the structure of tree tops and how they intertwine to become a surface, giving the impression of an amazing lace created by nature. Designer: ‘Katalin Aradi’ The designer’s USP is the driving ambition to the best and professional approach to concept and design development; very experienced in hand and machine sewing, pattern cutting and constructing garments. Experienced in couture sewing techniques therefore her eye for detail skill is very strong. CAD skills involve Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Autodesk 3ds Max and Sensable Freeform. She is a quick learner and a good team member. Her interest in contemporary art and haute couture is very strong and she would like to deliver these in her designs and set her aspirations to. The images I create are about taking aspects of life out of context and dramatizing them to create something new. It is important to me that everything in the image lends itself to the feeling of possibility; that there is a place in which this narrative might really exist. My images are about thinking and viewing outside the confines of the existing world, to escape, and to be welcomed into something new. I believe that inspiration comes in all forms and your should let life into your art. "The sky is blue for the same reason, but the blue at the horizon, the blue of land that seems to be dissolving into the sky, is a deeper, dreamier, melancholy blue, the blue at the farthest reaches of the places where you see for miles, the blue of distance. Blue is the color of longing for the distances you never arrive in, for the blue world." - Rebecca Solnit Travellers of this new century, migrate by option and desire to capture the changes of the world. The denim, this large portion of the project, connotes a democratic tradition and the appeal of the globalized world. Emphasized by with the use of ancient Japanese technique of Sakiori, the reuse of old material. Denim trousers were recycled and hand woven into pieces; the mass production transformed into hand made. BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development

A curious and diligent designer who takes inspiration from many sources including life experiences, anatomy, the fantastical and the unknown. The aim of lindseytait design is to use fashion and its influence as a channel to raise awareness of social issues and to make a difference. The brand is dedicated to having a social responsibility as well as producing superior quality crafted pieces that are one of a kind and make a statement. Striving for perfection, attention to detail is key as well as finding new and exciting ways to create, while incorporating traditional artisan techniques to produce beautifully finished products. Looking to modern technology to influence design and to push the boundaries of ‘fashion’, lindseytait design hopes to bring accessory design to new levels of what can be achieved. The graduate collection ‘skin deep’ is influenced by the issue of self-harm: the stigma associated with it and the restriction of the body to prevent harming. It was key that the pieces should be beautiful as well as provocative in order to raise awareness, yet still be products that can be worn with attraction rather than the ‘ugliness’ of self-harm. Using an intricate cherry-blossom pattern laser etched into the lining (which sits close against the skin) is significant as the cherry-blossom flower represents feminine strength and sexuality. This soft and beautiful leather etched lining is juxtaposed against the strong VegTan exterior that provides a shield-like mould around various parts of the body. Each piece is fully functional, despite being conceptual rather than commercial. Born in a small town in Northern Ireland, Lindsey showed a strong passion for art and craft from a young age, which soon flourished into a love for fashion design. While completing her Foundation Diploma, Lindsey’s keen attention to detail and interest in accessories became apparent, leading to her relocation to London to attend London College of Fashion. Lindsey intends to remain in London to continue growing as a designer and to also expand her knowledge of fashion design and construction into apparel – although her main focus still remains on creating innovative and provocative fashion accessories. BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Maria is a London based fashion jewellery designer, who graduated The London College of Fashion (2013) with a BA in Fashion Jewellery. Originally Maria took a foundation course at Central St Martin's in Art and Design, where she intended to embark on a career in Women's wear. However after some mentoring and self realization, Maria discovered that her true passion and talents were in jewellery design. During her time spent at LCF Maria developed her own style of design based on organic life and shapes taken from nature, combined with a mystical element of life forms from outer space. This unique combination led to a creative final project which she is very proud to present. Through experimentation Maria learned to use digital technology such as rapid prototyping, which enabled her to create the pieces that she had envisaged. Maria's graduate collection was inspired by nature and a curiosity of what lies beneath in the ocean together with the same curiosity for what exists beyond planet Earth. The final pieces are based on a mythical sea creature which was made with black lacquered plastic and Swarovski crystals. email: mariasokolyanskaya@gmail.com http://blog.trendstop.com/2013/05/gfw-ones-to-watch-maria-sokolyanskaya/

“The phenomenon of certain objects becoming so firmly associated with an individual that they are understood as literal extensions of that individuals being” (Belk, 1988: 140) The extension of the “generation Y”: A hybrid ready-to-wear autumn/winter collection looking into the interaction between the “generation Y” and their belongings, which reciprocally shape each other in today’s transformed world. An analysis of the “generation Y” is made in order to further understand how they relate to their possessions. This detailed examination lead the research and the exploration of different themes such as Maximalism and Pop Art; a great focus is made on collaging elements from various sources, reinventing the past with a new freedom and disregarding rules by manipulating and transforming in order to create a distinctive and eclectic outcome. The collection celebrates a world rich in texture, materials, colours, and shapes (in terms of print). The perception of fashion becomes a festival for the senses. BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development

Jessica Hearnshaw is an Accessories Designer based in London who's focus is around the design and craftsmanship of high quality conceptual leather goods. This collection’s focus is on accessories that have a integral relationship to what they contain. That are as fascinating to unwrap, as a gift is to open. Inspired specifically by traditional japanese packaging which has a strong minimalist aesthetic. A key notion of japanese packaging is that the gift and the act of unwrapping the gift, is just as important as what is inside. This art form would wrap a given object in whatever materials lay at hand. The outcome was often not only practical for storage and transporting the object but also produced a simple beautiful shape free of all excess and extravagance ----------------------------------------------- Credits: Images 1 - 5: Art Director: Benjamin Thapa, Photographer: Giulia Zucchetti, Model: Max @ Profile, Stylist: Irene Manicone, Makeup: Nichola Mai Images 6 - 9: Art Direction & Photographer: Benjamin Thapa Image 10 - 11: Photography: Anthony John Sayer Creative Director: Rob Phillips Beauty: Pace Chen Model: Rosemary Banks

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design & Development

SeungMi Kim BA(Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design & Development SeungMi Kim expects to become a creative and modern brand that will represent contemporary shoes. Mainly, it is inspired by a variety of art theories, issues or arts work that is reinterpreted in a modern way. The value of the brand will be enhanced through combing work with special skills and each design has a significant meaning. “Changes in form, illusion and technology” This main concept of the A/W 2013-14 is ‘Cubism’ which was inspired by cubism painting and sculpture. It is based on cubism theory; the main objective is to reproduce the surface through three-dimensional view and the basic perspective rule is abandoned and shows the same object in different sides. These were combined with my design, which resulted in a modern conceptual and fashionable shoe. I used 3D printing, which was hidden rather than showing on the outside to give change to the shape of the shoe. To create an optical illusion a point colour was used. On the whole, the collection shows dramatic elements of materials, colour and design. - Contact detail - sui.seungmikim@gmail.com 07738333109
