Nano Aoshima S/S 2012

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Movement and comfort, are key to my collection. Hence, sportswear and street wear have always been my inspiration. The challenge born, to break the boundary between everyday street wear/sportswear, and elegant and glamorous femininity that are required in designing Womenswear, is what I hope to have achieved within my collection, though looking at Japanese traditional wear, Japanese wood print, and by using a new approach to sweatshirt. I have also been inspired by the subject of preconceptual fashion, which is, covering the body instead of exposing, and by hiding the body it becomes enhanced in a more effective way. Oversized and baggy may not make a woman look beautiful or attractive, yet I believe that by providing a space for someone that I design the clothes for, to move in the garments, and providing fabrics and silhouettes that move together with the body, giving her a presence and an attitude, she becomes undefeated and the most attractive woman. My passion to Fashion Design has grown over years, whilst experiencing and memorizing life at different time and place. Nano Aoshima Spring/Summer 2012 is a very personal collection, hence full of youth and it is what I feel right now at this moment. My ideas are never ending and I am convinced that this is the reason why I continued to enjoy designing so much. I wish to create something that has a character, and pieces of work that leave something in the corner of people's mind, to be remembered and recognized that it is my own work. My designs will keep changing as I grow up and enrich my experience, and I wish to keep expressing and communicating all of myself that is consumed into Fashion Design, in every opportunities that I meet in future. MA Fashion Design Technology, Womenswear

Rahull Verma has recently completed a Master of Art with distinction in Fashion Design and Technology, specialising in Womenswear from London College of Fashion. Rahull graduated from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Delhi in 2008 with a gold medal in academic excellence. He then worked in the industry for two years to gain experience and build his portfolio to earn a spot in the class of MA in 2010. Rahull’s strengths lie in pattern cutting and tailoring, along with an excellent understanding of fabrics and finishing which he mixes with his keen eye for aesthetics and attention to detail. Experimental in approach, the inspiration for his MA collection - ‘_hybrid basic’ comes from the architectural influence on fashion; with reference to the concepts of ‘Deconstruction’ and ‘Difference’ coined by the French philosopher Jacques Derrida. The two concepts are interpreted through pattern cutting methodology and fabrication respectively. The majority of the collection has been produced in-house by the designer himself. ‘_hybrid basic’ was nominated for the collection of the year award for 2012 and shown in a catwalk show at Victoria and Albert museum on Feb 2, 2012. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

I am currently completing a degree in BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology. I have trained and obtained a degree in Designer Pattern Cutter from University of The Arts London, London College of Fashion. I have also trained and obtained a Diploma in Fashion Apparel Designing from School of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in India. This broad training has given me in depth understanding of both the UK and international fashion. During this period I have acquired excellent skills in fashion designing and illustration. I have been using CAD for the past 6 years in a range of projects. I am extremely sincere, motivated and focused. I am passionate about producing high quality work. I appreciate, to get best results it is important to work as a team and recognize strengths of others and I have good team working ethics. I am extremely organized in my work and very focused with time management as I am aware of the importance of delivering on time in fashion industry. I am confident and will be good in dealing with customers with ease.I have been working as a Freelancer, build up clients and understood their needs. I participated in Illustration competitions like Company Magazine Fashion Illustration, Finalist 2010. I have developed a deeper understanding of fabrics, colours and most importantly silhouette during my education and training. I enjoy design development with 3D experiments on silhouette using pattern as well as drape. The project Hanging Out, by Full Spectrum Productions, took place at Victoria and Albert Museum. I made sketches for garment construction from original 1950’s patterns and developed illustrations worn by Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley and James Dean. This was a great opportunity to enhance my pattern skills and garment construction. I am passionate about achieving success. MA Fashion Artefact

SUMBAWANGA TRAIL Shifting Anthropological Form into Contemporary Utilitarian Artefact It is my passion to design and make unique leather objects with a strict code of craftsmanship but also with the sensitivity and respect for our natural environment. The pieces of this collection have been moulded and hand-stitched from vegetable-tanned leather using a fusion of state-of-the-art and time-honoured techniques. The objects’ shapes have been sculpted to mimic the body’s contours when worn, ensuring a snug and comfortable fit while remaining fully functional. When away from the body, each design stands alone as an intriguing artefact of pure craftsmanship and simple beauty. This collection is influenced by primal forms, such as the hand axe, the grindstone and the stele as well as by the findings of the late mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius. Fusing primal elements with science and modern views, Sumbawanga Trail aspires to raise awareness for the diversity of culture and contemporary thinking in our world. BA (Hons) Fashion Promotion: Public Relations

I have been immersed in design and crafts since I was a little girl in Japan. From a young age, my mother taught me painting, sewing, embroidery and pottery. My grandmother ran a knitting school and my brother, Masahiro, is one of Japan's leading proponents of traditional Kimono (see www.awai.jp). I have lived, studied (BA Hons London College of Fashion) and worked in London for over ten years and currently work from my home studio in leafy Maida Vale. My work is very much inspired by my love of Englishness – the countryside, the seasons, tea and tradition. This is reflected in the new and vintage fabrics I use to create my bags. http://folksy.com/shops/MariReighCase http://mari-reigh.blogspot.co.uk/

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Ema Ranger is a Menswear Designer with a strong focus on utility and sportswear. Designs are a modern take on nineties street wear trends and are designed to be worn by people of “the street”. Garments are designed to be unforgettable, impactful and interesting whilst also being well made, wearable and luxurious. The wearer should be able to take any garment into their wardrobe and work it with all of their favorite looks. Garments are often made from unconventional materials that wouldn’t usually be found within a collection of this kind, this is to try and break the boundaries between “street wear” and high end menswear. “Xcloose” 2012/13 This collection was based on the “street “and the aim was to express the voice of someone who would otherwise be left unheard. The garments were designed for people of the “street”, rather than using them purely for inspiration, and the idea is that they would be able to style key pieces within the collection to express how they feel. Innovative materials and processes have been combined with nineties sportswear inspiration to create an updated version of the original “street” trends. Graffiti and underground music also inspired the design of this trans- seasonal sporty collection for 2012/13. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Loko Yu BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear http://showtime.arts.ac.uk/lokoyu http://my.lcffirstmove.co.uk/graduates/6831 AW/12 : Influenced by non-fashion bodies presented in the form of NANA sculptures by Niki de Saint Phalle, anti-mainstream style movements and individualist body art, I explored a multiple shade scheme of black that is defined through 3D surface embellishment, giving the illusion of body art growing from the wearer, through the garment, gaining its own life. I've researched sub-cultures and used elements of them in very fine detailing of my pieces, such as functioning piercing into a seam to create a piece. As a designer, I am constantly inspired by people who break free of society’s expectations to fit into a certain mould, body and appearance. I always seek to explore and develop a concept fully without restrictions like trends or pre-set ideas of what the final garments should be or shouldn’t be. This way, the full potential of an idea can be realized; sometimes mistakes made during the development of a garment can lead to unintentional great outcomes. "Blue is the color of longing for the distances you never arrive in, for the blue world." - Rebecca Solnit Inspired by my own experiences in between diverse cultures and in the attempt to define my own identity. While studying analysis of theorist Pierre Bourdieu regarding personal identity definitions being directly related to the way one’s have been raised. Gaucho and Japanese traditional clothing are transmuted and clashed to set the silhouettes of this project. Observing how immigrants interpret and absorb new cultures, the garments remain rustic and comfortable, worthy of travellers. Travellers of this new century, migrate by option and desire to capture the changes of the world. The denim, this large portion of the project, connotes a democratic tradition and the appeal of the globalized world. Emphasized by with the use of ancient Japanese technique of Sakiori, the reuse of old material. Denim trousers were recycled and hand woven into pieces; the mass production transformed into hand made. About 75 trousers were used to produce 5 pieces. ++ Featured Design Creative Of The Week by PSFK: http://www.psfk.com/2012/06/design-creative-of-the-week-fernanda-fujiwara.html ++ Featured on Doze Magazine http://www.doze-mag.com/index.php/noticias/moda/editoriales-de-moda/1224-spectrum-sara-pista WORK EXPERIENCE aug 2012 Nike + Centre for Sustainable Fashion Design Collaboration jul - oct 2011 Intern at Felicity Brown, London jul - aug 2010 Intern Womenswear at Alexander McQueen, London may - jul 2010 Intern at Goldie London, London EDUCATION sep - jul 12 BA (Hons) Fashion Design & Technology: Womenswear sep 09 - jul 11 Fda FDT Design Pattern Cutting London College of Fashion mar 05 - dec 08 BA Product Design Centro Universitario Ritter dos Reis apr - jul 09 Fashion Folio Central Saint Martins jan - apr 09 Fashion Design for Begginers Central Saint Martins Study Abroad - Fashion Design London College of Fashion mar - dec 06 Fashion Design Senai SKILLS / TECHNIQUES Creative Excellent all round skills, research, layouts and presentations, fabric dying, garment design and illustration. MA Fashion Design Technology, Menswear

There is a fresh interpretation in Ancient Egyptian Culture in Kay Kwok’s menswear collection--fake eternity. with the inspiration of Ancient Egyptian Religious and Cosmology-the mysterious story behind Sphinx, the relation between the process of mummy erosion and the system of Ancient Egyptian’s constellation like Ancient culture of Solar,Lunar & Stellar story. the Designer has combined the ideas to create prints by playing shades, light and flame aiming to pushing digital printing into a new area with the twist of classic menswear tailoring.
Printed Neoprene fabric is widely used on the collection because of its fleshy hand-feel.
