Final Line Up Collection

BA (Hons) Fashion: Design & Technology (Top Up)

Currently interning at Y3 Adidas in Germany, I am a shoe enthusiast and passionate about sport shoes, interested in innovative and creative design products. A lot of my works are inspired by sports and lifestyle, creating exciting and desirable products for the sports lifestyle type of consumer. The running lifestyle is inspired running and consumer’s lifestyle, a laser cut upper with a sports EVA sole. The pattern design and colour are inspired by the environment a runner runs in, trees and greens. Model: John Ojuri Styled: Kei and John Ojuri Photographer: Rebecca Albertotti Another project is a colloboration with Nike, using the Mattr app to create sustainable products for athletes in Olympics 2016. The Sandal is constructed with a sustainable factory, which produce white grain leather to minimize chemicals and the weaving construction increase manual labor and craft skills. Madama Butterfly 2

MA Costume Design For Performance

I began my career in fashion, passionate by the way clothing is a cultural reflection, and a key tool for communication. This MA aloud me to go deeper into the sociological/psychological side of color and garments, and how to use them properly to develop characters and storylines visually. As my Final Major Project I worked on the opera "Madama Butterfly" by Giacomo Puccini, as a contemporary dance piece. I created a costume able to operate as "set", so it will be the only thing needed for the performance (apart from the performer); this mixture represents how the character is born and raised into a moral system that puts her down, and how that fact influences her identity and sense of freedom. For my film project, based on "The Cherry Orchard" by Anton Chekhov, I chose Magic Realism as my context, particularly Jan Saudek's visual language, which I found a perfect match for the decadent, familiar story with reminiscences of ingenuity and hope. My character, Gayev, was a grown Peter Pan, led to Neverwhere by his fruit drops and billiard games; so I created a heavy decadent texture for the outside which contains the delicate colorful laser cut fantasy of his playfull childhood. For my on-stage performance project, based on the opera "The Cunning Little Vixen" by Leos Janacek, I researched on the Steampunk movement and aesthetics, to represent the duality of the humanized animals, the brownish colors of the farm, and the fact that the hens are a flesh machine to be used until it breaks. SNOW WHITE, is an editorial/story telling/performative personal project. WONDERLAB, is a visual experiment with mixed media (photography - projection - photography) isnpired by PILAR DALBAT Spring/Summer 2013 collection.

ITS 2013

MA Fashion Artefact

The aim of this project is to study how social and cultural everyday life issues can be translated within the fashion context to present a fresh point of view, in this case by bringing new attention to tradition. The collection concept is current, personal and helps me evolve through an exploration of my cultural heritage. This project is a way to show there is an opportunity in a crisis for improvement. It can be expressed using one’s own cultural resources. It reflects confusion and disappointment among people especially in Greece and its youth. Youth needs to appreciate its cultural heritage and not to reject it by imitating foreign stereotypes. The economic crisis is a vital factor creating confusion but at the same time needing solutions. The new interpretations of Carnival values and symbolisms will be used as a medium to suggest solutions through the use of non conventional materials. The collection shows the transformation of a modern citizen to a Carnival daemon through 8 stages. It will present the need of the modern man to escape and go back to his roots for solutions. There is an emphasis on the cow bells sound and the movement of people in disguises. The bells are a very important element since they are used to wake up the forces of nature and disperse the evil. The accessories produced challenge and push the boundaries of fashion with the mixture of different materials and textures together. Hardware materials (brushes and pendant drill cups) are used outside their everyday life context creating decorative surfaces - optical illusions of constructed 3D textile using diverse objects. Softer materials contradict the roughness of the hardware textures creating a similar effect such as religious trimmings. 2013 FW Byungmun Seo preview

MA Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Byungmun Seo is a visually provocative menswear ready-to-wear line. It displays an unconventional construction of garment that often plays with creative pattern cutting and pushes the boundaries of traditional fashion and silhouette. The philosophy of this label is that fashion needs to be functional first of all, but also conceive a style that reflects the mood and state of mind: poetic, sensitive and melancholic. The inspiration exudes a sense of discreet chic, the essence of timeless style, drawn on a monochromatic, poetic expression through experimental pattern cutting. Profile Byungmun Seo was born and raised in Seoul, South Korea. He moved to London where he graduated London College of fashion in MA fashion design and technology. His collection was showcased at V & A museum. The collection was displayed in unconventional use of garment pattern, as well as in giving new uncommon meaning by creative pattern cutting. 2013 07 Showcasing 2014SS in Who’s Next in Paris 2013 07 Showcasing 2014SS in Premium Berlin 2013 06 Showcasing 2014SS in White Milan 2013 03 Catwalk Show at iD Dunedin Fashion Week 2013 01 iD International Emerging Designer finalist 2013 01 Showcase at Tranoi Homme in Paris 2013 01 Showcase at White show in Milan 2013 01 Showcase at Pitti Immagine Uomo in Firenze 2012 10 iD international emerging designer awards finalist 2012 10 WGSN GLOBAL FASHION AWARDS SHORTLIST FOR / Emerging designer of the year / 2012 10 Design Collaboration with /Re code/ 2012 10 Catwalk Show at 3D Print Live Show in London 2012 08 Popup Shop in London 2012 07 ‘Not Just A Label’ online store 2012 07 Assistant designer at / Aitor Throup / 2012 02 Catwalk Show at Victoria And Albert Museum 2012 12 Graduated from London College of Fashion in MA Fashion Design and Technology 2014 SS Byungmun Seo Collection concept -Paradox of non-existent existence Many creations have been derived and developed from the notion of the archetype of existing object. The idea about the archetype of the object has been also a recurring topic explored by many artists. But most archetypes of existing objects in modern society have been stuck in the concept that is predetermined by the notion of convenience for capitalism and materialism. They have been seen only in their designated perspective. If it is not existed in the way that they were supposed to be and most people expect to see, it can be perceived that it is non-existent as people tend to believe only what they have believed and they also see only what they want to see and it shows repulsion against the unfamiliar and new perspective of existing objects unconsciously so people believe that it is not existed. This paradox can be resolved by the fusion of the unexpected and inexistent aspect of objects and manifests in a resistance against the traditional and existing perspective of objects. We contemplated this paradox to create new beauty of existing object resisting preconceived idea and traditional perspective and, to envision new image of nonexistent objects with deviant perspective of them. And we pursue the imagery into construction of garment and contrast of fabrics to create new beauty giving them a new meaning and freedom of their perception. 2014 SS Byungmun Seo preview image Photographer_Kwangbok Jack Lee Make-up_Kyungju Claire Chung Hair_Kyungju Claire Chung / Heather Hyein Lee Stylist_Heather Hyein Lee / Yoon Yoon Chun Retoucher_MJ Kim Assistant_Chisung Ihn, Sujung Park 2013 FW Byungmun Seo Collection Concept - Styud of hidden recess of mind We are looking deeper into the immense shadows of the unconscious. Envisioning a full metamorphosis within the unconscious, we set the inherent dialectic in motion. This dialectic is resolved by the fusion of the unexpected and inexistent phenomena in the conscious and manifests in a resistance against the traditional and existing perspective of objects. We contemplated this hidden recess of the mind in freedom and ventured to liberate the mind of preconceived ideas, to release all objects from their customary association, and to revitalize the poetic imagery. And we pursue to develop this imagery into the construction of garment. The construction will be led by a single concept where a new silhouette is created by the spatial mating of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional objects. This also brings an aspect where such playing of shapes in construction refuses our initial perception of them and gives the objects a new meaning. 2013 FW Byungmun Seo Preview Image by Minkyu Kim A/W 2012 collection of Byungmun Seo 'Interpretation of alter ego in unconsciousness' This collection is indicative of the concept through observation of two different selves of human. One is true self, other is repressed another self of human caused by external pressure in this modern society and this repressed self can be expressed through unconscious. In this unconscious, there seems to be no rules, moralities set by the society and are the only place were the repressed human’s desire can convey itself. And the energy of these repressed desires are coming into ‘substitute activities’ such as dreams and parapraxis, which are expressed in the unconscious. And these energies could also be transmitted into creative activities. As a result, these creative activities can be metaphor of human’s true desire. With this in mind, this collection was derived from these creative activities to find another self of pattern cutting and the concept of this collection can be seen in two methodologies. one is 'Alter ego of pattern cutting' to replace garment patterns into the place which is not supposed to belong to them and other one is 'Imaginarium of pattern cutting' to show juxtaposition of unfamiliar and unexpected meeting of garment patterns. these concepts create new silhouette and also give new meanings to garment pattern.'Boundless Maze' Fashion short film Credits_ Produced by Byungmun Seo Directed by Chul Woo Aaron cho Written by Byungmun Seo Director of photography - Hyung Lee Production design by Tae Seok Kang Edited by Dong Hyun Yoo Make-up artist - Soo Jung Park, Ji Eun Choi A/W Menswear Collection by Byungmun Seo Bags designed by Tae Seok Kang Photo-Shoot Credits_ Photographer : Do hyung Lee Make-up : Pace Chen Model : Ben Warnock, Matt Hone Bags by Tak Seok Kang Contact: www.byungmunseo.com info@byungmunseo.com

MH Shoes This portfolio was developed as part of my graduation project for the course BA(Hons) in Fasion: Design Technology, with major in Footwear, at the London College of Fashion (2010-2013). During the course, I had the opportunity to do an internship with Freya Rose, as her design’s assistant. This combined with my preview experiences in the shoe’s industry provided me confidence to start my own brand: Michele Hartmann Shoes. This brand has been conceived for a modern, confident and independent woman, who is a leader, not a follower. INSPIRATION “I am not attracted to straight angles or to the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man. I am attracted to free-flowing, sensual curves. The curves that I find in the mountains of my country, in the sinuousness of its rivers, in the waves of the ocean, and on the body of the beloved woman”. Oscar Niemeyer (1907 - 2012) Architect who recreated Brazil’s sensuous curves in reinforced concrete and built the capital of Brasilia on the empty central plains as a symbol of the nation’s future. BA (Hons) Cordwainers Accessories: Product Design & Development

A curious and diligent designer who takes inspiration from many sources including life experiences, anatomy, the fantastical and the unknown. The aim of lindseytait design is to use fashion and its influence as a channel to raise awareness of social issues and to make a difference. The brand is dedicated to having a social responsibility as well as producing superior quality crafted pieces that are one of a kind and make a statement. Striving for perfection, attention to detail is key as well as finding new and exciting ways to create, while incorporating traditional artisan techniques to produce beautifully finished products. Looking to modern technology to influence design and to push the boundaries of ‘fashion’, lindseytait design hopes to bring accessory design to new levels of what can be achieved. The graduate collection ‘skin deep’ is influenced by the issue of self-harm: the stigma associated with it and the restriction of the body to prevent harming. It was key that the pieces should be beautiful as well as provocative in order to raise awareness, yet still be products that can be worn with attraction rather than the ‘ugliness’ of self-harm. Using an intricate cherry-blossom pattern laser etched into the lining (which sits close against the skin) is significant as the cherry-blossom flower represents feminine strength and sexuality. This soft and beautiful leather etched lining is juxtaposed against the strong VegTan exterior that provides a shield-like mould around various parts of the body. Each piece is fully functional, despite being conceptual rather than commercial. Born in a small town in Northern Ireland, Lindsey showed a strong passion for art and craft from a young age, which soon flourished into a love for fashion design. While completing her Foundation Diploma, Lindsey’s keen attention to detail and interest in accessories became apparent, leading to her relocation to London to attend London College of Fashion. Lindsey intends to remain in London to continue growing as a designer and to also expand her knowledge of fashion design and construction into apparel – although her main focus still remains on creating innovative and provocative fashion accessories. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Olivia Howick is a Surface Textiles for Fashion graduate specializing in embroidery and embellishment, with a passion for transforming unexpected materials into luxurious fashion embellishment. Her graduate collection: ‘Medicate Me’ is a high-end ready to wear womenswear collection, that demonstrates the collision of contemporary and traditional approaches to medicine, through the exploration of Native American culture and advances in scientific medicine. The collection draws upon a textile tradition, and transforms it to demonstrate a clinical aesthetic which will appeal to the contemporary consumer. Exploration of new materials, in particular the use of PVC, has allowed for highly creative and innovative textile development through embroidery processes, that reflect on traditional craftsmanship, whilst evoking a clinical and medicinal aesthetic. Transforming materials is becoming an increasingly important aspect of Olivia’s work. This collection saw PVC hose pipes cut, dyed and stitched to become PVC beadwork. Combining this with satin stitch work and screen printed fabric, Olivia likes to work with both traditional aspects to textile design as well more unconventional material. Integral to Olivia’s practice is her illustration and drawing. Specializing in highly detailed hand rendered work, her illustration style is graphic, yet rich in textile inspired texture and detail. Olivia was selected as a finalist for the Nina de Yorke fashion illustration prize, and has also been shortlisted to compete to illustrate for the Maria Luisa website. Olivia was selected for the LCF Press Exhibition 2013 and exhibited a sculptural textile piece which demonstrated the concepts surrounding her Final Collection, as well as showcasing new textile development. MA Fashion Artefact

----------------------------------------------- A continued journey to inquire about what constitutes Fashion in the name of creativity. My practice aims to emphasize the challenge on how fashion (with & without context) is perceived with a narrow perspective, and also to celebrate its art. Furthermore, my creative expedition aims to formulate a system of platform that inherits Freud’s psychoanalysis. And the archival system embodies a re-interpreted theory in my own understanding as principal elements. To achieve what I envisage, I have created Artefacts that represent the key elements to my internal inquiries. And the Artefacts were incorporated as physical stimuli in a performance set to juxtapose my queries about the unconscious effect of objects, and its effect in drawing practice. The performance is hosted by the ‘Pigman’- a representative figure during my previous degree’s final project “What is Fashion Illustration?” - and the set employs both ego & alter ego in human form, disguised in pig masks. First set of works is from MA Fashion Artefact (2013), ‘The Pigman’ Second set of works are from BA(Hons) Fashion Illustration (2010), ‘What is Fashion Illustration?’ ------------------------------------------------------ Looking for project commission & collaboration. https://www.facebook.com/noronoropigman www.noronoro.co.uk info@noronoro.co.uk ---------------------------------------------------------------- The Guardian: http://www.guardian.co.uk/university-arts-london-partner-zone/fresh-prints MPDclick Issue.21: http://www.mpdclick.com/mudpie/magazines/issue28/issue_28.pdf Fashion 156.com: http://archive.fashion156.com/previous-blog/Doyeon+Noro+Kim/1653/ Lanciatrendvisions: http://www.lanciatrendvisions.com/en/article/noro-kim-br-illustrates-art LCF Alumni profile page: http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/student-stories/noro-kim-illustration/ Creative Boys Club: http://www.creativeboysclub.com/fashion-illustrations-by-doyeon-noro-kim --------------------------------------------------------- Photography by Maryjane Neumeister & Daniel Jon

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials.
