BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. "The local outsider" The story starts from a 75 minute long awareness-raising documentary about Lao Hmong and my personal feelings after a Paris vacation in 2012. "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand. It explains what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers ~ over 30 years after the Vietnam War ended Link:http://www.sommerfilms.org/documentaries/Hmong/index.php Have you ever been trapped by Roma in a gold ring scam? I became concerned about the reasons behind it after I encountered more than eight Roma scam artists in one day. I started to reflect upon the poor living standards, negative social stereotypes and even enforced removal from their homes that this community suffers from. In order to express my concerns and raise public awareness "The local outsider" was born. A collection to promote ethnic harmony by increasing the profile of two oppressed minorities - Laos Hmong and EU-Roma. I have recently collaborated with Zoe Sterling for the Final Major Project photo shoot. Zoe's collection is based on 60s nostalgia and children's artwork. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

'We Raphaelites' SS14 Edward Curtis’s Spring Summer 2014 Collection is about the collision of simplicity and maximalism. Comparing today’s modern mood with historical painters of the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood was a key dialogue for this collection. The state of wonder and tranquillity in pre-Raphaelite paintings of everyday people in seen in ‘The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams’ by Allessandra Sanguinetti were compared, contrasted and collaged with the pop art works of Lichtenstein, Koon’s and Bruce Ingram. Via a process of haphazard experiments, using illustration, manufacture, finish, drape work and fittings as creative catalysts, Edward refined his unusual finds into a contemporary summer collection of 12 intense looks. Using a free hand expressive illustration style, Edward closely studied his random, varying sized drawing lines forms, textures and finishes to explore and use as design tools. The juxtaposition of clean graphic paints with rough mark making and powdery organic chalk smudges, guided Edwards pattern cutting, choices of colours, fabrics and prints. Unsatisfied with the regularity of most manufacturing details, Edward incorporated different techniques such as faggoting for seams, rolls of fabric for exaggerated shapes and decoration, duel net sandwiched rouleau’s that become new fastenings at the neck and wrist either hanging like marshmallow meters or tied into chic, sculptured bows. The silhouettes are dedicated to a free, micro sexy hemline and mix between a softer, looser hourglass form and a wide, curved, neck to wrist silhouette. Short midi tops fall lower to the front and sensually, provocatively curve the contour lines revealing the lower back arch. Sashes and ties languidly grow from garments either draping to the floor or fetishticly and organically moulding the body. The illustration mark makings are turned into prints, that appear to be just strewn, arbitrary over garments and even panties. Panties under dresses that you are intentionally given glimpses of. This is a collection of personal passion and artistic freedom. Through the naivety of play and euphoria, the tranquillity of posture and grace of gesture and raw expressive lines comes a masterfully controlled, elegant and thoroughly modern collection. These are eye-catching fashion statements, bold, confident and sexy pieces to play in, designed to create striking silhouettes when posing! For my major project, I was inspired by Tarkovsky's film Stalker, which raises questions about humanity. The styling consists of flimsy, delicate pieces which represents our fragility and the series finishes with darker pieces, a metaphor for death. The forest is a deep and transformative place, an unknown and strange limbo: a transgressive landscape between the security of being a student and graduating. My project was photographed using 5x4 polaroid, which gives an ethereal feeling. I prefer to shoot with polaroid and film rather than digital. I'm always looking to work with new designers, makeup artists and stylists. If you're interested in working with me: t: + 44 (0) 7557397416 e: aaronlevisimic@gmail.com

the disguise of the girls it is about love - it is about strangeness - it is about innocence - it is about playfulness The SS14 collection is inspired primarily by Charles Manson’s cult of brainwashed girls and combined with the concept of the masquerade, the savagery of African and European fancy dresses and the folklore of Frida Kahlo. It links the competing notions of raw and pretty, oversized and adjusted, opaque and transparent, weird and feminine, and dark and innocent. The Manson girls’ identity is given to the identity-less of the masquerade to hide, to change, to obscure and to deceive into a disguise. x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x Education London College of Fashion - 2010-2013 BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology - Womenswear Lasalle College - Montreal, Canada - 2006-2009 Technical diploma - Design, pattern-cutting and dressmaking Work Experience Erdem, London, UK - 05.2012 - 08.2012 Sample room assistant William Richard Green, London, UK - 07.2011 - 10.2011 Studio assistant Rudsak - Montreal, Canada - 06.2009 - 08.2010 Designer Credits LCF BA 2013 press show embroidery/natasha searls-punter - photograhy/VogueUK LCF's 2013 press show preview embroidery/natasha searls-punter - photography/james rees - creative direction/rob phillips - beauty/pace chen - model/laura O’Grady at select model management (verve) untitled embroidery/natasha searls-punter - model/mai stl the disguise of the girls photography/mark blower - beauty/jin ong - muse/christie corbally at nevs F&F embroidery/natasha searls-punter - hat/daniel service - creative direction/rob phillips - photography/kasia wozniak - beauty/pace chen - muse/katharina at M+P i-D creative direction/rob phillips - photography/anthony john sayer - beauty/pace chen - muse/ines bizarro denim & braids photography/chienYi wu - beauty/yura do - model/andrea chovanova at premier Press LCF 2013 ANNUAL issuu.com/london_college_of_fashion/docs/sdt-annual-2013 LCF BA 2013 press show www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2013/live/ Fashion156 www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/london-college-of-fashion-class-of-2013-catwalk-show/ Interview - www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/f156-graduate-showcase-week-roxanne-leger/ Womenswear award - www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/f156-graduate-showcase-week-awards/ Vogue UK Review - www.vogue.co.uk/news/2013/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show Vogue UK 127-137 www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/spring-summer-2014/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/full-length-photos/gallery/1004220 Triptyque Interview - www.agencetriptyque.com/entrevue-roxanne-leger/

Camel Coat - Geometric Composition of Avant-Garde Tailoring Collection 2013

BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring

Joshua Jeffrey Millard, the Farmers son from Dorset has brought his rural routes to the city of London, where he has developed the ability through learning Bespoke and Production Tailoring techniques to give body to his fantasies. Fantasies of which correlate around the beauty of the female form and fuse his rural-urban layers of inspiration together to create unique, quality garments. ‘My ambition has always been to resuscitate the tradition of British pride and the attitude towards ones own appearance, in turn rejuvenating the spectacle of class and enabling my clientele to differentiate themselves from the masses’ He realises the importance of understanding construction when designing, hence from a young age he taught himself and practiced the skill of pattern cutting, and after finishing his A-Levels made the move to the metropolis of London in order to learn the fine art of tailoring, in both Bespoke and Production techniques. His relocation to London has made him susceptible to different cultures and given him an initial insight into the reality of modern life. This has resulted in a catalyst effect upon the maturity and complexity of his work, and with this effect occurring over an 18-month period he hopes to develop his technical ability even further on the BA Bespoke Tailoring degree he is to bridge onto this coming year.

“The phenomenon of certain objects becoming so firmly associated with an individual that they are understood as literal extensions of that individuals being” (Belk, 1988: 140) The extension of the “generation Y”: A hybrid ready-to-wear autumn/winter collection looking into the interaction between the “generation Y” and their belongings, which reciprocally shape each other in today’s transformed world. An analysis of the “generation Y” is made in order to further understand how they relate to their possessions. This detailed examination lead the research and the exploration of different themes such as Maximalism and Pop Art; a great focus is made on collaging elements from various sources, reinventing the past with a new freedom and disregarding rules by manipulating and transforming in order to create a distinctive and eclectic outcome. The collection celebrates a world rich in texture, materials, colours, and shapes (in terms of print). The perception of fashion becomes a festival for the senses. BA (Hons) Technical Effects for Performance

Highly driven and excited by anything physical and practical based in technical effects. I am a strong independent worker and also love to colaborate. I have developed a keen interest in and an aptitude for sculpting, and have also gained good experience in and further interests for fabrication, mould making, life casting and finishing in my time on this course. My work is inspired by anything macabre and also the human, animal or creature forms! Wearable pieces, special effects, props, puppetry and art based sculpture are all areas I enjoy working in. I have already gained valuable work experience in both theatrical and film settings.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

Copyright © 2013 Victoria Rowley An energetic and open-minded print designer who obsesses over experimental applications and illustrative drawing. With a trademark delicate hand, exotic subjects are florid and evocative. 8=========D My recent work, in a rather farcical and juvenile manner, set out to explore themes of fleshy surfaces and sexuality. The influence of imagery from the photography of Pierre et Gilles, and film such as Henri-Georges Clouzot’s L’Enfer, and that of the German Expressionist genre, led me to respond to the graphic compositions and carnal imagery using harsh contrasts of colour; over-saturated and suffused. Abstract interpretations with screen printing using devore, discharge and procion techniques onto silk velvet and organzas, intended to replicate the real sensuality and lustre of the skin. Using alternative methods in response to my findings, enlarged and distorted images of glitter and wax as an initial layer to the composition, was adopted in keeping to the uncanny as a regular motif. Interacting more exaggerated motifs of pearlescent lemon and lavender colours, with dark harmonious earth shades to make the smooth textures advance, and to radiate in a hypnotic quality. Such frivolity having integrated into print development, seeming to convey a very stylistic aesthetic, I wanted further exploration to circulate around a discussion on taste. It was all the more enticing to use figurative, hand-rendered applications to fully utilize the provoking combinations of imagery I was sourcing. As a reaction against notions of good taste, bad taste is fully explored through archetypical motifs of the grotesque and the beautiful, with the writings of Umberto Eco being of key influence. The outraged Eco’s humorously dry take on objects of American ‘Hyper-real’, (almost perfectly fake ornamental replicas of icons in European arts/culture), inspired me to juxtapose the crude imagery with more traditional academic art. Florid pencil drawings of botanics and genitalia with leafy foliage have evolved into monstrous print placements.
