eLai london lingerie Debut Collection

BA (Hons) Fashion Contour

Specialising in luxury lingerie, nightwear and other intimate apparel. Eva Lai launched eLai after graduated from London College of Fashion in BA Fashion Contour with first class honour in July 2012. " Touch is just as important as the aesthetic. Materials that I use are to invoke the senses. They are aimed to make wearers not just look great, but also to empower and invite confidence.""Attention to details is key, every stitch and trim counts. I design to flatter the female body, not to challenge it, hence the cut of the garments is extremely important. I love combining old & new, by bringing traditional elements into modern designs." Eva hopes to bring out the kind of seductiveness, which retains sophistication. It is classically elegant with a bit of kink and a scintilla of naughtiness! Previous Employment: Founder @eLai london lingerie Design Assistant @Agent Provocateur Assistant to Senior Designer @Kanye West Designer @Sambalina Bridal Lingerie Seamstress @Katy Eary Studio Assistant @Melanie Potro Bridal Couture "eLai" - creates luxury lingerie that is worn to be seen. It is statement underwear + provocative outerwear. It believes that fashion is liberating and even our lingerie should express our identity. Products range from statement show pieces full of embellishments, seductive lingerie , to everyday comfort lingerie. http://www.elai.co.uk WGSN Global Fashion Award 2013 - Lycra Future Designers Shorlist PRESS: http://www.notjustalabel.com/elai http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2012/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/page/13# http://www.lingerieinsight.com/pics-3334-sneak-peek-elai-aw13/ http://issuu.com/synmagazine/docs/residue http://lostinlingerie.com/something-else-elai/ http://www.lingerie-stylist.com/2013/07/12/elai-london-debut-collection/ http://www.nineteen13.com/elai/ http://www.lingerieinsight.com/pics-3746-sneak-peek-elai-ss14/ http://www.lingerie-stylist.com/2013/04/09/tvp-elai/ http://thelingerielesbian.com/2013/06/10/previewing-elai-back-in-time-collection-ss2014/ http://underlinesmagazine.com/2013/03/13/new-lingerie-brand-elai-to-be-sold-at-then-and-now/ http://thelingerielesbian.com/2013/03/11/double-trouble-interview-with-eva-lai-lingerie-designer-for-elai-and-sambalina/ http://www.lingeriecollector.com/collections-ah2013/eLai/ http://www.rarelywearslipstick.com/2013/02/debut-aw13-collection-from-elai http://www.thecreativebook.com/evalai http://www.rarelywearslipstick.com/2013/01/playful-promises-winner-eva-lai/ http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show?id=7516&image=1#/7516/image/1 http://www.lingerieinsight.com/pics-3088-in-pics-playful-promises-competition-winners/1 http://www.lingerie-buyer.co.uk/Members/article.aspx?id=6810 http://www.revsmag.com/magazine/eeva-rinne-for-revs/ http://fashion-bust.com/2013/04/01/worn-to-be-seen-lingerie-from-new-label-elai/ http://www.1883magazine.com/photoshoots/wake-up http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2012/live/ http://www.lingerieblog.co.uk/lingerie/debut-elai-aw13/ http://magazine.ethicsgirls.co.uk/speedo-supports-fashion-students-upcycling-projects http://www.howdesign.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=6543

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

This project is a redefinition of the gentleman in the 21st century, to include aspects of masculinity that have been excluded in the conventional definition, such as gay subculture, and the wild, playful desires of the boy child. Inspired by the post-colonial expression of the tweed suite in traditional South African isiXhosa initiation ceremony, I explore the possibilities to overcome the tensions between tradition and contemporary expression that are experienced by young men everywhere. Having direct historical reference to the British Tweed aesthetic, as well as the traditional cultural elements of African aesthetic, I attempt to reflect these tensions, and possibilities for transformation in my collection that plays with colour, texture, proportion, and the artisanal deconstruction and rendition of the tweed tailored suite. All the tweed suiting I designed and wove as part of the project and created them in collaboration with an artisanal tweed mill in London, called London Cloth. The research for this project used a variety of different methods that include, but not limited to, site visits to South Africa, interviews, and reference materials from historical archives and libraries in South Africa and the UK. http://timothywangmenswear.blogspot.co.uk http://timothywangmenswear.tumblr.com contact: timking.wang@gmail.com

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Surface Textiles

>>OLIVIA HOWICK This collection is for sale as one off garments-prices on request. Bags and Shoes can be made to order. http://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/LillyHowick?ref=seller_info Olivia Howick is a Surface Textiles for Fashion graduate specializing in embroidery and embellishment, with a passion for transforming unexpected materials into luxurious fashion embellishment. Her graduate collection: ‘Medicate Me’ is a high-end ready to wear womenswear collection, that demonstrates the collision of contemporary and traditional approaches to medicine, through the exploration of Native American culture and advances in scientific medicine. The collection draws upon a textile tradition, and transforms it to demonstrate a clinical aesthetic which will appeal to the contemporary consumer. Exploration of new materials, in particular the use of PVC, has allowed for highly creative and innovative textile development through embroidery processes, that reflect on traditional craftsmanship, whilst evoking a clinical and medicinal aesthetic. Transforming materials is becoming an increasingly important aspect of Olivia’s work. This collection saw PVC hose pipes cut, dyed and stitched to become PVC beadwork. Combining this with satin stitch work and screen printed fabric, Olivia likes to work with both traditional aspects to textile design as well more unconventional material. Integral to Olivia’s practice is her illustration and drawing. Specializing in highly detailed hand rendered work, her illustration style is graphic, yet rich in textile inspired texture and detail. Olivia was selected as a finalist for the Nina de Yorke fashion illustration prize, and has also been shortlisted to compete to illustrate for the Maria Luisa website. Olivia was selected for the LCF Press Exhibition 2013 and exhibited a sculptural textile piece which demonstrated the concepts surrounding her Final Collection, as well as showcasing new textile development. BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Oksana Anilionyte I would like to thank Saga Furs for a wonderful sponsorship. Collection is based on idea of a soft control. The collection is an investigation into inter-relation of minimalism and modern women. I found my inspiration in Michelangelo Antonioni films L’Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961), Eclipse (1962) and Il deserto rosso (1964). His films concentrate on how the modern world influence people and their feelings. Personal feelings, doubts, moods are substance of the films. The works and processes of Robert Morris, Tony Cragg and Daniel Arsham sculptures and abstract painting of Dale Frank served as the initial inspiration for the silhouette, colour, texture and details of the collection. The aim was to mix different techniques and inspirations to reach new and unexpected levels. I embraced the complexities and simplicities by different techniques to reinvent a version of femininity. Robert Morris felt sculptures led to create new ways of using seams to express the fluidity of line. The collection is a lot about the lines that are so pure, so clear, that they convey simplicity in their perfection. The purity is combined with texture that comes from tufting embroidery and soft fur to create a new level of feelings that garments create when touched. A dialogue between time and timelessness runs through the progression of the minimalist aesthetic which is felt in fluidity of seam lines. The collection incorporates a range of luxury fabrics (cashmere, wool, silk, fur, leather) to examine the balance between textures, silhouette and a purity of line. "The local outsider" The story starts from a 75 minute long awareness-raising documentary about Lao Hmong and my personal feelings after a Paris vacation in 2012. "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand. It explains what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers ~ over 30 years after the Vietnam War ended Link:http://www.sommerfilms.org/documentaries/Hmong/index.php Have you ever been trapped by Roma in a gold ring scam? I became concerned about the reasons behind it after I encountered more than eight Roma scam artists in one day. I started to reflect upon the poor living standards, negative social stereotypes and even enforced removal from their homes that this community suffers from. In order to express my concerns and raise public awareness "The local outsider" was born. A collection to promote ethnic harmony by increasing the profile of two oppressed minorities - Laos Hmong and EU-Roma. I have recently collaborated with Zoe Sterling for the Final Major Project photo shoot. Zoe's collection is based on 60s nostalgia and children's artwork. Geo Deco Collection For the 'Geo Deco Collection' I was inspired by light. There's a great energy as the sun shines in the day and when lights glow in the dark. I'm fascinated by light, and as it moves how it changes shapes, reflects and refracts. As the sun shines through coloured glass, its a delight as the hues of colours flood in its moving path. The sun mixes with water and oils to create spectrums of colour and It makes us feel happy, alive and awake... I use layers of different coloured light conducting perspex, mixed with mirrors, brass and in some pieces, LEDs. As the Jewellery moves, light catches the layers of material absorbing the lights energy, enhancing the colours as they conduct and glow brightly catching the eye. I work hard with the materials to get a great finish, to give it a polished, shiny, glassy effect and top it with brass to enrich and make it shine golden. The jewellery collection are individual pieces of art... They are structured and made to capture and entertain its audience. I like the pieces to have extra dimensions. The Jewellery is new and innovative, yet people connect as they see and find familiarities and memories within. pikkalili@live.co.uk GALLERIES MOCO LOCO Galleries http://mocoloco.com/fresh2/2012/10/15/gallery-beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery.php THE ARAM GALLERY http://www.thearamgallery.org/next/ XHIBIT 2011 http://www.boidus.co.uk/?p=2755 DESIGN CATWALK http://www.designcatwalk.com/lili-colley-enlighted-jewellery/ SEE/SAW/SEEN http://www.seesawseen.co.uk/ DeTnK http://www.detnk.com/node/12050 DESIGN WEEK http://www.designweek.co.uk/whats-on/demystifying-beautiful-objects/3035438.article http://mocoloco.com/galleries/gallery/beautiful-objects-exhibition-at-the-aram-gallery/ PRESS DRAPERSonline http://www.drapersonline.com/blogs/unzipped/lcfs-college-shop-not-a-pencil-sharpener-in-sight/5041799.article Londonist http://londonist.com/2012/10/today-london-college-of-fashion-shop-opens.php GLAMUK http://glam.co.uk/2012/09/its-back-to-college-time/ COMPANY Magazine http://www.company.co.uk/fashion/news/london-college-fashion-pop-up-shop LDN Fashion http://www.ldnfashion.com/london-fashion-news/london-college-of-fashions-pop-up-college-shop/ Timeout Magazine WGSN http://wgsn.tumblr.com/post/30987031794 Elle UK.com http://m.elleuk.com/fashion/shopping-blog/the-lcf-college-shop-returns Viora Magazine http://www.vioromagazine.it/photogallery/ Dew Magazine http://www.dewmagazine.com/issuu/06newworld.html http://elegiac-circus.tumblr.com/post/31019347447/lili-colley http://pinterest.com/thedefiant/magazine-volume-1-5-future-bioculture-aw12-ss13/ - Style Bubble http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/shoes-n-things.html · Tatler.com Catwalk review with emphasis on VIP and Celebs http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/1 - Vogue.co.uk http://www.vogue.co.uk/news/2012/06/29/london-college-of-fashion-ba-show - Evening Standard http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/fashion/all-the-trimmings-london-fashion-graduates-prove-they-have-a-bright-future-7898848.html?origin=internalSearch - Fashion156.com http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ · Style Bubble Susie Lau’s influential fashion blog– Catwalk highlights: http://www.stylebubble.co.uk/style_bubble/2012/07/hackney-house-antics.html · Catwalk Queen Catwalk show review: http://www.catwalkqueen.tv/2012/07/london_college_6.html · Dash Magazine online Catwalk show review http://www.fashiondash.net/?p=3226 · Adorn Girl Fashion Blog: http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-exhibition-2012/ Exhibition review http://adorngirl.com/robert-wun-fashion-designer/ spotlight on Robert Wun http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-catwalk-2012/ Catwalk show review http://adorngirl.com/london-college-of-fashion-ba-2012-catwalk-backstage/ Backstage images · Luxsure French luxury magazine: http://www.luxsure.fr/2012/07/01/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show-2012/ · Fashion Bite (Fashion blog) Catwalk show review: http://fashionbite.co.uk/2012/07/04/london-college-of-fashion-runway-show-class-of-2012/#more-11721 · Better Never Than Late (blog) Image Gallery of Backstage at Catwalk Show: http://bntl.co.uk/2012/07/03/backstage-lcf-press-show/ · Fashion Insight (Trade publication) Catwalk review http://fashioninsightfeatures.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/london-college-of-fashion-ba-season.html · EStyler Magazine Image gallery of all designers: http://estylermagazine.com/interviews · The Upcoming (fashion and news blog) Catwalk show review: http://www.theupcoming.co.uk/2012/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-and-fda-show/ · Now Fashion Catwalk show image gallery: http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html

Holley Potts BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear http://showtime.arts.ac.uk/HolleyPotts WEBSITE: www.holleypotts.com holley.potts@hotmail.co.uk As a designer, I feel that most art forms should be integrated with practicality and this should also apply to fashion. SS/13 - Combining Fashion Illustration with Fashion Design. Looking at Marching Cubes (a computer generated algorithm) and contrasting this with nature and old cartoon sketches formed my illustrations. Designing a set of five tops; same cut, different fabric, I overlaid my illustrations on top to synchronise these together. ± SS/13 COLLECTION TOPS + ILLUSTRATION - Holley Potts PHOTOGRAPHY - Tamzin Haughton HAIR + MAKEUP - Scarlett Burton STORM MODEL - Annie Walker-Trafford STYLIST - Elle Baron VIDEOGRAPHER - Calvin Hayes ± AW/13 - Researching how chemical substances were originally used medicinally, but now widely taken for recreational use, I looked at today’s underground music scene. Brand: ‘katalinarady’ The brand’s first capsule collection, Spirit, is designed for Autumn/Winter 2013/14. This collection is expected to make a strong first impact on customers and quickly establish an emotional connection. It creates a highly recognisable and memorable image for consumers. Spirit’s signature will be a new design aesthetic on lingerie sets; clear and innovative lines are executed to underline the brand’s ethereal and surreal qualities. The description of the brand is emotional reaction: neo romanticism reacting to this century’s technological revolution. The collection is designed for the 21st century woman bringing back the idealised, sensitive and fragile aspect of women. The overall message of the brand is to promote a refined and re-feminised woman; emphasising the power of sensual beauty. It represents shades and emotions, the fragile beauty and the dreamlike, theatrical, neo romantic mood. The Gift (2000). The scene where the main character, played by Cate Blanchett, is dreaming was an inspirational part of the film. A dreamlike background with lilies and trees, and her 19th century night gown impacted on the mood of the designs, and provided a definite picture; it also helped to link the ideas together. The see thorough montage of her silhouette and the trees immediately brought the concept of light, airy fabrics and modern vein like techniques. The garments are designed to extend the beauty of the body three-dimensionally and express fragile emotions on the outside as a continuous extension of elements, which reaches out from the physical body. The shadow idea transformed into the structure of tree tops and how they intertwine to become a surface, giving the impression of an amazing lace created by nature. Designer: ‘Katalin Aradi’ The designer’s USP is the driving ambition to the best and professional approach to concept and design development; very experienced in hand and machine sewing, pattern cutting and constructing garments. Experienced in couture sewing techniques therefore her eye for detail skill is very strong. CAD skills involve Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Autodesk 3ds Max and Sensable Freeform. She is a quick learner and a good team member. Her interest in contemporary art and haute couture is very strong and she would like to deliver these in her designs and set her aspirations to. [Look Book Images] Photography: Anai Bharucha http://anaibharucha.tumblr.com/ Beauty: Som J http://www.facebook.com/somijj Image Editor: Terrence Seah http://www.edfool.com/blog Model: Mila from Oxygen Models Management [Collection] Shanna Bent`s aw13-14 collection `INUNDATE` encompasses a minimalist tone with beautifully structured, twisted detailing. Unique pieces exuding modernity and classic shapes against a neutral palette of grey, navy and blue with a hint of colour introduced through an elaborate print. The reversible and multi-wearable aspects embrace the lifestyle of the busy modern woman, allowing her to “buy less and wear more” along with a combination of both light and heavy fabrics which permits the collection to be worn throughout all seasons in celebration of longevity and practicality. Photography of global flooding by Gideon Mendel and Robert Polidori were the root of inspiration for the collection which enthused further research into the causes of flooding and it`s after effects. Satellite images of hurricanes inspire the spiral and twisted shapes within the garments as well as the vibrant digital print made up from tangled multicolour ribbons which were off-cuts from initial toiling. These images not only inspired the garment shapes, but also their function in rejection of seasonal trends and the increase of disposable fashion resulting in waste and global pullution. Each garment is therefore designed as a separate in order to easily be worn with other garments, creating a new look each time thus minimising the need for consistent purchasing of new items. The collection consists a mixture of both reversible and multi-wearable garments, further allowing the consumer to style her outfit as she pleases, creating a new look each time. Each garment has been carefully considered and ensured to be versatile enough to appear as a different garment. The pieces are additionally stamped with signature detailing of contrast silk binded seams for longevity and hidden contrast zips as an extra feature against the predominately understated exterior. Jessica Hearnshaw is an Accessories Designer based in London who's focus is around the design and craftsmanship of high quality conceptual leather goods. This collection’s focus is on accessories that have a integral relationship to what they contain. That are as fascinating to unwrap, as a gift is to open. Inspired specifically by traditional japanese packaging which has a strong minimalist aesthetic. A key notion of japanese packaging is that the gift and the act of unwrapping the gift, is just as important as what is inside. This art form would wrap a given object in whatever materials lay at hand. The outcome was often not only practical for storage and transporting the object but also produced a simple beautiful shape free of all excess and extravagance ----------------------------------------------- Credits: Images 1 - 5: Art Director: Benjamin Thapa, Photographer: Giulia Zucchetti, Model: Max @ Profile, Stylist: Irene Manicone, Makeup: Nichola Mai Images 6 - 9: Art Direction & Photographer: Benjamin Thapa Image 10 - 11: Photography: Anthony John Sayer Creative Director: Rob Phillips Beauty: Pace Chen Model: Rosemary Banks
