BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Maria is a London based fashion jewellery designer, who graduated The London College of Fashion (2013) with a BA in Fashion Jewellery. Originally Maria took a foundation course at Central St Martin's in Art and Design, where she intended to embark on a career in Women's wear. However after some mentoring and self realization, Maria discovered that her true passion and talents were in jewellery design. During her time spent at LCF Maria developed her own style of design based on organic life and shapes taken from nature, combined with a mystical element of life forms from outer space. This unique combination led to a creative final project which she is very proud to present. Through experimentation Maria learned to use digital technology such as rapid prototyping, which enabled her to create the pieces that she had envisaged. Maria's graduate collection was inspired by nature and a curiosity of what lies beneath in the ocean together with the same curiosity for what exists beyond planet Earth. The final pieces are based on a mythical sea creature which was made with black lacquered plastic and Swarovski crystals. email: mariasokolyanskaya@gmail.com 1. http://digits2widgets.wordpress.com/2013/07/04/d2w-in-camden-town-launch-night/ 2. http://blog.trendstop.com/2013/05/gfw-ones-to-watch-maria-sokolyanskaya/ 3.http://institutemag.com/2013/07/05/magic-touch/

BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Born in Israel, Liron Kliger is a London based jewellery designer who graduated a BA (HON) in Jewellery Fashion Design at the London College of Fashion. Liron developed a passion for jewellery design whilst completing a foundation in fashion design course at West London College, Liron developed a love for raw materials and desire to create unique pieces encompassing the form and essence of the material used. The primary influence on Liron’s work (apart from the raw materials) evolved from years spent living and travelling in cosmopolitan cities including Barcelona, Paris, Milan and Tel Aviv. Liron was exposed cultural idiosyncrasies which in turn influenced the way in which she combines / uses materials and their subsequent adaptation to her needs. Liron’s latest project developed from a fascination with snakeskin and infatuation with catwalk pieces; motivating her to create her own interpretation via snakeskin inspired bangles. Liron’s previous catwalk projects include a large feathered neck piece and oversized dice jewellery. In the foundation year of her BA Liron was awarded third place in the UK in a competition run by the Metro newspaper for her creation of a jewellery body suit utilising recycled materials. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Oksana Anilionyte I would like to thank Saga Furs for a wonderful sponsorship. Collection is based on idea of a soft control. The collection is an investigation into inter-relation of minimalism and modern women. I found my inspiration in Michelangelo Antonioni films L’Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961), Eclipse (1962) and Il deserto rosso (1964). His films concentrate on how the modern world influence people and their feelings. Personal feelings, doubts, moods are substance of the films. The works and processes of Robert Morris, Tony Cragg and Daniel Arsham sculptures and abstract painting of Dale Frank served as the initial inspiration for the silhouette, colour, texture and details of the collection. The aim was to mix different techniques and inspirations to reach new and unexpected levels. I embraced the complexities and simplicities by different techniques to reinvent a version of femininity. Robert Morris felt sculptures led to create new ways of using seams to express the fluidity of line. The collection is a lot about the lines that are so pure, so clear, that they convey simplicity in their perfection. The purity is combined with texture that comes from tufting embroidery and soft fur to create a new level of feelings that garments create when touched. A dialogue between time and timelessness runs through the progression of the minimalist aesthetic which is felt in fluidity of seam lines. The collection incorporates a range of luxury fabrics (cashmere, wool, silk, fur, leather) to examine the balance between textures, silhouette and a purity of line. NZCA Lines / New Atmosphere

BA (Hons) Costume for Performance

My FMP was a collaboration with the band NZCA Lines on a video for their upcoming single - New Atmosphere. A scientist grieves at the loss of his love during the birth of a new protective atmosphere. Of which they sought together, in our future desolate Earth. Cairo Athens glows in nostalgia and unrestrained abandon, on the other side of the physical and moral world. In Cairo Athens we see a controller. She wears a design based on a collapsable structural origami. Constructed from laser cut plastic and aluminium. In hope of a new world, two scientists roam the desolate earth, in atmospheric suits and breathing apparatus, in hope of creating a new atmosphere. I currently work as a freelance costume assistant within TV, film and music. I am currently planning my next project with NZCA Lines, a new video for which I will be art director, while designing and making costumes and set for their live shows. I am interested in art direction and set design as well as costume and was also responsible for all the locations you can see in New Atmosphere.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

The inspiration behind this collection is connected to my Italian roots and my childhood memories. Exploring my Catholic heritage as well as religious beliefs and traditional celebrations, allowed me to create a modern and contemporary collection. The aim of my work is to celebrate the value of past memories, indispensable to establish the present and revive the future. The visual imagery I collected is mainly related to the Christian iconography as well as to the elderly people and their attitude to engage with religion in later life. The final outcome is the meeting point of juxtaposing elements: tradition and modernity, fluidity and severity, fragility and strength. The colors are mainly drawn from the Christian iconography and visual representation of the Virgin Mary: the choice of fun, bright and loud shades contributed to the creation of a bold wardrobe composed of voluminous silhouettes and an injected dose of modernity. The visual references I chose for my color palettes belong to a series of images called “infinita Gracias” taken from www.flickr.com, a sort of visual collection related to Christian symbols: electric blue, gold, orange, yellow and pastel pink were my main inspiration which enabled me to create an innovative and non-conventional winter palette. The bold and almost three-dimensional silhouettes are the result of my deep interest in structured, complex and detailed garments as well as my fascination of creative and innovative pattern cutting. My passion for collage also helped the creation and development of my garments and in the specific to the creation of the voluminous shoulder line, which is definitely the highlight of my work. The choice of cloths as well as the fabric manipulation helped my collection to reach a modern and contemporary finish line: bright orange and blue cashmere together with shiny stretch silks were emphasized by the addition of topstitching and quilting as well as mink fur details sponsored by Saga Furs. The aim of my final collection is to combine strong awareness in contemporary trends as well as fine technical skills. The revisited craft tradition of the quilting technique together with the exceptional choice of timeless fabrics such as wool cashmere, stretch silks and mink fur satin are the signature of my final work. My ideal customer is an independent and sophisticated woman, ready to present herself to the world in a non-conventional way. The voluminous shapes and intricate topstitching details clearly show a luxurious and exclusive taste. PROFILE Highly creative fashion designer with excellent hand drawing and visual skills. Dynamic and organised team player with well-developed written and verbal communications abilities, capable to quickly adapt within a high-pressured environment. Excellent customer service skills with a background in retail management. JAMAICAN ME CRAZY'Don't want Jackie, Give dem Paul instead, Dem don't want di sweetness between di leg..' Banton, B . (1992) Boom Bye Bye. Jamacia: Shang Muzick Brogan Toyn’s S/S 2013  graduate collection, ‘Jamaican me Crazy’  contends against frequent homophobic dancehall lyrics, by creating ‘expressive’ street wear for the modern man.  Through the amalgamation of research, aggressive 90’s hip hop trends are combined with the promiscuousness of Jamaica’s dancehall Queens, consequently redefining common contemporary constructions of the male identity in contemporary fashion. Collaborating with textile designer Zoe Sterling, ‘Jamaican Me Crazy’ ignores familiar connotations of masculinity in order to create an unconventional sportswear S/S13 Menswear collection. Juxtaposing common culture with subcultures, Brogan creates clothes for men willing to push image boundaries beyond the norm of the day, instead hyper exaggerating them. Representation of the black gay male in contemporary fashion is relatively absent as patriarchal values still influence the majority. Although, commonly it has been long thought that it is a homosexual customer that consumes outlandish modern menswear trends. Something which has been allegedly underground , emerging in the 80s and 90's and documented in films such as Livingstones 'Paris is burning' is now becoming a trend. Queens. Proportions within ‘Jamaican me Crazy’ remain unbalanced due to the amalgamation of inspirations. Influenced prominently by the provocative outfits of the Jamaican dancehall Queens, the collection rearranges masculine shapes in order to reverse gender restraints. Referencing dancehall contemporaries in hip hop,  Brogan adopts classic street style proportions to conflict with risque silhouettes, crop tops vs. basketball shorts. Focusing heavily on the context of colour within menswear and in order to balance an overtly sexualized concept, a juxtaposition of colour has been enforce. Enhanced pastels compliment the risqué silhouettes as they distract from erotic undertones and encourage the energy of the dancehall. Unconventionally luxurious, Brogan does not use classic performance fabrics. Instead, collaborating with textile designer Zoe Sterling, sequins adorn nearly every look and increase the collections flamboyance. Rainbow furs creep along the edges of garments while tight crotches are emphasized by printed, metallic lurex fabrics. As ‘Jamaican me Crazy’ adopts outlandish street style and contradicts obvious urban aesthetics, sequined crop tops only emphasize this further. Jessica Hearnshaw is an Accessories Designer based in London who's focus is around the design and craftsmanship of high quality conceptual leather goods. This collection’s focus is on accessories that have a integral relationship to what they contain. That are as fascinating to unwrap, as a gift is to open. Inspired specifically by traditional japanese packaging which has a strong minimalist aesthetic. A key notion of japanese packaging is that the gift and the act of unwrapping the gift, is just as important as what is inside. This art form would wrap a given object in whatever materials lay at hand. The outcome was often not only practical for storage and transporting the object but also produced a simple beautiful shape free of all excess and extravagance ----------------------------------------------- Credits: Images 1 - 5: Art Director: Benjamin Thapa, Photographer: Giulia Zucchetti, Model: Max @ Profile, Stylist: Irene Manicone, Makeup: Nichola Mai Images 6 - 9: Art Direction & Photographer: Benjamin Thapa Image 10 - 11: Photography: Anthony John Sayer Creative Director: Rob Phillips Beauty: Pace Chen Model: Rosemary Banks

the disguise of the girls it is about love - it is about strangeness - it is about innocence - it is about playfulness The SS14 collection is inspired primarily by Charles Manson’s cult of brainwashed girls and combined with the concept of the masquerade, the savagery of African and European fancy dresses and the folklore of Frida Kahlo. It links the competing notions of raw and pretty, oversized and adjusted, opaque and transparent, weird and feminine, and dark and innocent. The Manson girls’ identity is given to the identity-less of the masquerade to hide, to change, to obscure and to deceive into a disguise. x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x x Education London College of Fashion - 2010-2013 BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology - Womenswear Lasalle College - Montreal, Canada - 2006 - 2009 Technical diploma - Design, pattern-cutting and dressmaking Work Experience Erdem, London, UK - 05.2012 - 08.2012 Sample room assistant William Richard Green, London, UK - 07.2011 - 10.2011 Studio assistant Rudsak - Montreal, Canada - 06.2009 - 08.2010 Designer Credits LCF BA 2013 press show embroidery/natasha searls - photograhy/VogueUK LCF's 2013 press show preview photography/james rees - creative direction/rob phillips - beauty/pace chen - model/laura O’Grady at select model management (verve) untitled embroidery/natasha searls - model/mai stl the disguise of the girls photography/mark blower - beauty/jin ong - muse/christie corbally at nevs F&F embroidery/natasha searls - hat/daniel service - creative direction/rob phillips - photography/kasia wozniak - beauty/pace chen - muse/katharina at M+P i-D creative direction/rob phillips - photography/anthony john sayer - beauty/pace chen - muse/ines bizarro braided denim photography/chienYi wu - beauty/yura do - model/andrea chovanova at premier Press LCF 2013 ANNUAL issuu.com/london_college_of_fashion/docs/sdt-annual-2013 LCF BA 2013 press show www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2013/live/ Fashion 156 www.fashion156.com/daily-blog/london-college-of-fashion-class-of-2013-catwalk-show/ Vogue UK www.vogue.co.uk/news/2013/07/02/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show Vogue UK 127-137 www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/spring-summer-2014/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/full-length-photos/gallery/1004220

Designing a set of five tops; same cut, different fabric, I overlaid my illustrations on top to synchronise these together. ± SS/13 COLLECTION TOPS + ILLUSTRATION - Holley Potts PHOTOGRAPHY - Tamzin Haughton HAIR + MAKEUP - Scarlett Burton STORM MODEL - Annie Walker-Trafford STYLIST - Elle Baron VIDEOGRAPHER - Calvin Hayes ± AW/13 - Researching how chemical substances were originally used medicinally, but now widely taken for recreational use, I looked at today’s underground music scene. Taking inspiration ranging from the early Opium Dens. The vivid hues of the high and the dark greys of the lows gave me a colour distortion which is reflected in my silk digital prints. ± AW/13 COLLECTION LOOKBOOK PHOTOGRAPHY - Tamzin Haughton HAIR + MAKEUP - Marie Bruce MODEL - Rachel Christianos STYLIST - Rita Shi ± AW/13 COLLECTION LINE UP PHOTOGRAPHY - Hanna Hillier HAIR + MAKEUP - Amber Pitkin MODEL - Amber Pitkin ± INTERNING Richard Nicoll May 2012 - July 2012 Giles Deacon November 2011 - March 2012 Selfridges: Marketing Department July 2007 - August 2007 ± ACHIEVEMENTS The Shoreditch Fashion Show 2013 Photography by Vytautas Dranginis ± FEATURED Bright Young Things 2013 - http://www.clothesshowlive.com/page.cfm/link=130 Kaltblut Magazine - http://www.kaltblut-magazine.com/april-illyj-and-pipa/ The Savy Dresser - http://thesavvydresser.wordpress.com/interview/

A bold array of colours embodies this collection, adopting a playful tone to some truly British essentials. Inspired by my own British/Burmese hybrid background, this collection deals with the contrast between hybrid cultures and the truly British. Originally inspired by research into old pictures of my parents in London this collection aimed at capturing a unique interpretation of what it is to be British. Amalgamating the traditionally English trench and duffle coat, with the more modern puffer jacket, in the hopes of creating a hybrid piece that captures the essence of my interpretation of Englishness. "The local outsider" The story starts from a 75 minute long awareness-raising documentary about Lao Hmong and my personal feelings after a Paris vacation in 2012. "Hunted Like Animals" was filmed by refugees who fled from Laos to Thailand. It explains what the military inside of Laos did to them, while they were running and hiding, half starved, from the attacks by the soldiers ~ over 30 years after the Vietnam War ended Link:http://www.sommerfilms.org/documentaries/Hmong/index.php Have you ever been trapped by Roma in a gold ring scam? I became concerned about the reasons behind it after I encountered more than eight Roma scam artists in one day. I started to reflect upon the poor living standards, negative social stereotypes and even enforced removal from their homes that this community suffers from. In order to express my concerns and raise public awareness "The local outsider" was born. A collection to promote ethnic harmony by increasing the profile of two oppressed minorities - Laos Hmong and EU-Roma. I have recently collaborated with Zoe Sterling for the Final Major Project photo shoot. Zoe's collection is based on 60s nostalgia and children's artwork. 'We Raphaelites' SS14 Edward Curtis’s Spring Summer 2014 Collection is about the collision of simplicity and maximalism. Comparing today’s modern mood with historical painters of the pre-Raphaelite brotherhood was a key dialogue for this collection. The state of wonder and tranquillity in pre-Raphaelite paintings of everyday people in seen in ‘The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams’ by Allessandra Sanguinetti were compared, contrasted and collaged with the pop art works of Lichtenstein, Koon’s and Bruce Ingram. Via a process of haphazard experiments, using illustration, manufacture, finish, drape work and fittings as creative catalysts, Edward refined his unusual finds into a contemporary summer collection of 12 intense looks. Using a free hand expressive illustration style, Edward closely studied his random, varying sized drawing lines forms, textures and finishes to explore and use as design tools. The juxtaposition of clean graphic paints with rough mark making and powdery organic chalk smudges, guided Edwards pattern cutting, choices of colours, fabrics and prints. Unsatisfied with the regularity of most manufacturing details, Edward incorporated different techniques such as faggoting for seams, rolls of fabric for exaggerated shapes and decoration, duel net sandwiched rouleau’s that become new fastenings at the neck and wrist either hanging like marshmallow meters or tied into chic, sculptured bows. The silhouettes are dedicated to a free, micro sexy hemline and mix between a softer, looser hourglass form and a wide, curved, neck to wrist silhouette. Short midi tops fall lower to the front and sensually, provocatively curve the contour lines revealing the lower back arch. Sashes and ties languidly grow from garments either draping to the floor or fetishticly and organically moulding the body. The illustration mark makings are turned into prints, that appear to be just strewn, arbitrary over garments and even panties. Panties under dresses that you are intentionally given glimpses of. This is a collection of personal passion and artistic freedom. Through the naivety of play and euphoria, the tranquillity of posture and grace of gesture and raw expressive lines comes a masterfully controlled, elegant and thoroughly modern collection. These are eye-catching fashion statements, bold, confident and sexy pieces to play in, designed to create striking silhouettes when posing!
