Film Stills - Deviate To Escape Part Two

BA (Hons) Creative Direction For Fashion

A Creative Director/Stylist, who uses personal experiences and surroundings to influence her work. With a creative mind she is able to produce interesting narratives for her work, producing concepts which ambiguously relate personally to its audience. Deviate To Escape Trilogy - This trilogy focuses on the cinematic approach of fashion film. Portraying the battle between socially constructed identities, and the struggle of presenting individuality in an environment, which provides an ideal. The aim for the films is to present to its audience the effects that the ‘need to belong’ within a society, has on the individual. The mixture of stylised graphics and moving image depict the impression of an overwhelming duplication of identity and the absence of fulfilment and contentment, which is provided by originality. The overall narrative is based on the feeling and need to escape and deviate from the social path you are born into. The trilogy renders the process of finding self-identity, exposing the feeling of discomfort experienced within this transition. Each part of the trilogy focuses on the changes experienced in order to find individuality, whilst expressing how socially constructed identities can provide a sense of ‘untouchability.’ THE CREATOR The Creator film encapsulates the lack of identity and pureness embodied within an individual. Progression through the film demonstrates a constructed identity based on social ideals. THE SUSTAINER Seen throughout the Sustainer film are aspects of duplication, distortion and unfulfilment. Our socially constructed framework is the barrier between the need to belong and self-contentment. THE DESTROYER Destroying the socially constructed identity is the topic of the final film. Self-expression, awareness and serenity engulf the individual and consequently result in a destroyed identity. THE TRIANGLE Each film consumes the role of a triangular prism. A prism in optics is used to deviate and refract the light projected into it. Likewise these films depart from the established course of social ideals, in order to encourage individuality in a society that is so content as a duplicate. www.deviatetoescape.co.uk About Amy - A motivated Creative Direction for Fashion Graduate with a keen eye for styling and trend forecasting. The

FdA Fashion Design and Marketing

During the final term of uni, i took all the skills sets learnt at university to create a brand in which i am passionate about. The collection from the brand Cabin created is all about using the finest natural fibres and furs in creating the ultimate piece of luxury outwear. Inspired by apres-ski and mountaineering activities, these coats contain material properties that are natural and durable insulators for cold winters and warm summers. The brand naming concept "Cabin" came from the association with a place to retreat to for warmth and comfort , that too conveys the seasonal theme. The brand was to be an extension from a family run business, "Purelana" which embodies the same ethos to that of Cabin. The Brand is a true believer in fair trade, the wool mark and is a campaigner for the Polar Bears International trust. The two coats made "Bear Hug" and "Polar Bear" are coats that are of investment value and any of the "Polar Bear" coat sold, a portion of profit will contribute to the Polar Bears International trust. The usage of fur and where it has been sourced from is of paramount importance to the brand. The brand aims to communicate a strong message of using reputable tanneries and the fact that the Alpaca used is a bi-product is conveyed strongly in marketing such as the lookbook, video marketing campaign and labels. I am really passionate about this brand and have gained some great feedback for the work in which i would love to share with others.

___ENKÉPHALOS The graduate capsule collection primarily explores the recovery process following a significant loss. While highly personal, it is a universal concept not unfamiliar to human nature. By immersing herself in the memories of her father and juxtaposing his traces against the works and processes of Rachel Whiteread, Judith Shea and Naoko Yoshimoto, the designer is able to create a narrative surrounding the reconstruction of self. This narrative served to inform the collection's mood and aesthetic. The designer’s choice of form, material and design methodology contemplates the spiritual element underpinning laborious processes and deliberate chance. Medical research and textual referencing eventually opened the door to creating a highly intuitive and accidental process within garment and object construction, while experimentations gave way to the exploration of new technologies and its applications. Literally turning the concept inside out, the collection uses 3D Rapid Prototyping and conceptual patterncutting techniques based on shape data and chance to create each indivdual garment. Natural fabrics such as silk and wool sit next to machined nylon as the designer looks for ways to blend 3D print seamlessly into a luxury collection. Through an organic yet engineered approach to garment design, Enképhalos stands as a memorial to what was lost; yet its very creation has ultimately become a timeless symbol of cartharsis and a quietly hopeful resolution. ___PROFILE Alexa is a graduating Fashion Design & Development student from the London College of Fashion. Drawing on her interests in concept solutions and other creative fields of design technology, Alexa aims to fuse them together in order to facilitate the exploration of the human element that drives us to create and consume fashion. ___ACHIEVEMENTS Selected Graduate for LCF BA 2014 Press Exhibition June 2014 Exhibited work at Meadowhall October Fashion Month (Sheffield, UK) October 2012 Centre For Sustainable Fashion x Fashion Futures Concept Winner April 2012 Sony Smartwatch x LCF Design Finalist December 2011 ___EXPERIENCE PREEN by Thornton Bregazzi Creative Studio Assistant October 2012 - April 2013 Jean-Pierre Braganza Design Intern July 2012 - September 2012 ___CREDITS Photography: Anja Aichinger MUA: Nicky Alsterhouse Hair: Steph Raven Model: Beatrice @ Oxygen With special thanks to 3D Activation.de

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development

Creative and highly committed student aiming to broaden my knowledge of the luxury footwear industry, both in design and development. FINAL COLLECTION Taking Pedro Almodóvar’s work as the main inspiration, the following lines from his film ‘Kika’ (1993) outline the collection just as neatly as the perfect eyeliner: “The eyelash widens the eye, gives depth, expression, shape. A girl with almond-shaped eyes is better than one with spaniel eyes. Even the most banal woman looks intelligent, looks sparkling with lashes. Eyelashes are great. I’m all for them, girls!” My final collection represents a journey from basic to luxury, nine simple vibrant red suede shoes inspired by quotidian actions such as the make-up routine women do everyday, not forgetting the gloss of nail polish symbolised in the deep red patent leather and the strong black colour proper of eyebrows and eyelashes. Perennial Autumn/Winter 14_ Eddy & Vale’s debut collection tells the story of the designers’ working class grandfather charming his way into the Savoy Hotel London to take a bath. The concept explores the highly permeable class division seen within 1950’s England and todays deep denial of ‘class consciousness’ (Moore, 2013) ‘Perennial Autumn/Winter 14’ strives to contend with the current refus(al) of verbal discourse on class’ through an exploration of upper and lower class stereotypes and ideals incorperating a sense of irony which can be argued to be a ‘default mode of contemporary culture today’ (Moore, 2013) ‘Perennial’ embraces traditional eveningwear with a modern reinterpretation to create an Autumn/Winter 14 collection for the 50+ consumer - playing with classic silhouettes and a moody colour palette. Aided by academic text & documentaries the collection examines the tensions seen within the British Class System - specifically in the 1950’s and the current social mobility (or lack of) seen within society today. BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles

Final year knit student on the BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles course at London College of Fashion with an experimental approach to design and ability to knit with a variety of materials. Previous degree in illustration allowed me to exercise strong drawing and conceptual thinking skills, which are continually integrated into my current work which is described as unconventional yet, wearable with a feminine touch. As part of my final major project, the idea of fashioned-objects that grow with the wearer over time was explored drawing inspiration from Western charm jewellery and its variants worldwide. Further research into the concept resulted in a collection of luxurious, knitted art jewellery pieces, which uniquely showcase the idea of building forms through the use of unconventional materials and techniques. These ‘one-off’ pieces are geared towards sophisticated women of any age who enjoy ‘making statements’ through dress which allow their personalities to shine just like a piece of charm jewellery. _________________________________________________ Extra-Curricular Projects: Art of Dress Project Selected along with other students to take part in the 'Art of Dress' project, a traveling exhibition organized by LCF Creative Director Rob Phillips taking place in London, Shanghai, New York, Dubai and Florence. _________________________________________________ Education: September 2011-present [University of the Arts London: London College of Fashion [London, England] [BA (Hons) Fashion Textiles] Specializing in knit Sept 2010-May 2011 [University of the Arts London: Chelsea College of Art and Design] [London, England] [Foundation Diploma in Art and Design] Specialized in Fashion and Textile Design 2004-2008 [Ontario College of Art and Design] [Toronto, Ontario Canada] [Bachelor of Design, Illustration] 2003-2004 [Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning] [Oakville, Ontario, Canada] [Art Fundamentals Certificate] _________________________________________________ Work Experience: uk.linkedin.com/in/lindaawuku _________________________________________________ Credits: "...like a piece of charm jewellery." Nature Prevails : Signature Court Shoe - Achillea

BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design and Development

Supporting the journey towards refashioning footwear products into desirable, sustainable pieces was the objective of the final project. With the challenge to refine the rough textural appearance highly associated with sustainable designs, the designer developed a unique range to create modernistic, enticing shoes. The gentle spirit of nature and it's natural cycle is the key inspiration for the collection. Through a combination of traditional natural dyeing techniques with flowers, red cabbage, logwood and other natural ingredients, a range of print and colour variations was produced to develop a collection of unique, exclusive products. The concept produces inevitable fresh, feminine designs supported by a sustainable, unique selling point in footwear fashion. ................................................................................................ A very confident, multi-talented Footwear Designer/Product Developer that is inquisitive and analytical in her studies. Having completed work experiences both in luxury and commercial fields, she demonstrates a keen interest footwear product development and business awareness. With a commercial understanding, consumer behaviour is her key drive to creating products that are unique and desirable. Diana has developed an extensive understanding of the technical making processes and has engaged with several IT softwares to enhance the variety of CAD skills within her portfolio. She is incredibly focused and determined and her skills would highly contribute to any company in the fashion industry.
