Foundation Diploma In Art And Design
Gerber Creative Pattern Cutter Graduate from BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier, Gerber CAD Pattern Cutting course and LCF Fashion Foundation. BA (Hons) Fashion Atelier focused mainly on bespoke and on the stand pattern cutting for tailored, bias cut, fabric manipulated and corseted garments. The practices of the luxury sector were explored through Haute Couture construction techniques and hand sewn finishings. My current role has advanced these skills, transferring my knowledge of draped pattern into using flat blocks and measurements both manually and using Gerber Accumark. Experience in industry has also led to greater insight into garment making for production, including commercial constructions and finishings, creating size specification sheets, economic lay plans and fabric costings as well as knowledge of how grading rules are designed. Other skills include Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, basic PHP, HTML and C programming as well as French.

My MA body of work ' Authorised Identity' explores my family's migrant story, and its manifestation on body through extension of form and shadows created by large wood and metal structures. Each artefact has its own unique identity representing emotions and codes the piece portrays. My work explores being British Asian and the amalgamation of culture. SS/13 - Combining Fashion Illustration with Fashion Design. Looking at Marching Cubes (a computer generated algorithm) and contrasting this with nature and old cartoon sketches formed my illustrations. Taking inspiration ranging from the early Opium Dens. I am very interested in gender neutral clothes, although I do also explore both womenswear and menswear individually. I am particularly interested in creating instillations and art on commission, selling my textile samples and creating my own label.

BA (Hons) Bespoke Tailoring
I grew up in a family divided between painters and academics where I learnt that there is always space for self expression. It is only a matter of understanding the most effective way to do it. That is the main reason I consider tailoring fundamental in my desing process, because it supplies a very clear means through which one can produce ideas. And it is a very fine one too. The combination between fashion design and tailoring is the key to my work's aesthetic: a point of view where there is a controlled evolution of modern silhouettes, with an equilibrate balance between shape experimentation and traditional crafting methods. A very rich and detailed design development lays at the base of my final outcomes. The creative process is for me a combination between the elaboration of a concept, a story to tell and a more instinctive experimentation through drawing, collage and photography. It is a constant tension among the visual and the intellectual that leads me through a continuous development of ideas. My strong background in history and literature, together with my passion for visual arts and music, are the engine behind my work, the source of my inspiration. Image Credits 1.
