www.nicolabrindle.co.uk http://my.lcffirstmove.co.uk/graduates/6813 My final collection embodies my tactile and fun design ethos. I enjoy experimenting with colours and new techniques to recreate traditional patterns and textures. My designs often involve the unexpected such as Big-Ben embellishments and life-like flowers. The theme of my final collection was based on a Las Vegas wedding, so I combined research from both tacky and traditional aspects. I enjoy creating a story within my work, and adding extra dimensions to the garments through symbolism. I hope to continue developing as a designer with the same aesthetics – continuing to experiment and refine my style further.

K, [HyungTae Kim] "I don’t like the term “fashion”. I am not a fashion designer. I am a clothes maker”. "A/W 2013 Generation." A/w 2013 "The idea of K A/w 13 collection is to explore the sensitive relationship between youth-cultures and parental culture." My concept is to look at the contrasts between the themes of 'Father/Tradition, Youth/rebellious and Uniform/War. What inspired me were the memory and feelings I had when I was an adolescent boy. The memory of trying my Father's clothes is unforgettable. What remains deep inside of me is the feeling of warmth and comfort. To more accurately describe, it was like wearing a very warm blanket in a very cold and lonely winter. This feelings got stronger when I was trying his military jacket. I wanted to deliver that feeling of warmness of oversized khaki fabrics whilst having the adolescent boy's rebelliousness attitude that I had as I grow up, as his jacket getting smaller. "Hyung tae Kim’s was also great – it was a very good season.” Backpacks featured strongly in a great deal of collections, particularly in Kim’s who presented low-slung oversized backpacks combined with large, long coats that looked reminiscent of ‘typical’ father’s clothing but with a younger fresher vibe" - Hilary Alexander Academic London College of Fashion 2009 -2012 BA(Hons) FDT Menswear FT Northumbria University 2006-2009 BA(Hons)FDT Fashion Design Foundation Degree Work Experience Reworked [london] 2009 - 2011 [VINTAGE, ARMY CLOTHE REWORKED SHOP] ASSIATANT Diorasa 2007-2008 [Tailor shop] TAILOR ASSISTANT press- -http://www.glamourmagazine.co.uk/fashion/catwalk/AW2012/ReadyToWear/london/london_college_of_fashion_-_ba/full-length-photos -http://www.gomoneyways.com/?p=65953 -http://jaci-mag.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/untitled-ss-2013-mens-collection-acne.html -http://www.fashion.arts.ac.uk/2012/live/ -http://disordermagazine.com/lcfs-upcoming-talent/style/ -http://www.flickr.com/photos/53179772@N06/7490122378/ -http://fashionstyleology.com/hyung-tae-kim-k-aw-2013-lcf-ba-show/ -http://blogs.fashion.arts.ac.uk/snapshot/2012/06/29/last-night-in-shoreditch/ -http://nowfashion.com/28-06-2012-london-college-of-fashion-2012-part-1-live-event-event-2256.html -http://www.tatler.com/bystander/events/2012/june/london-college-of-fashion-graduate-show#/7516/image/25 - http://www.catwalking.com/ -http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2012/ready-to-wear/london-college-of-fashion-ba/page/7# -http://www.fashion156.com/collections/london-college-of-fashion-ba-graduate-show-2012/ Contact. mobile- 07904425600 contact- h.kim147@fashion.arts.ac.uk Klothing@hotmail.com facebook - http://www.facebook.com/kclothes twitter- https://twitter.com/klothing

Fakebook: Distorted Identites in a Digital Age

MA History And Culture Of Fashion

History and Culture of Fashion MA allowed me to explore all aspects of the fashion industry from a historical and current perspective, and to progress with a passion for a subject that had been resting, yet brewing, during my first university experience. The subject of my dissertation was driven by an exceptionally relevant topic within today's society, on a global scale. My initial research indicated that the conversation of Facebook was common, yet an academic response about self-presentation and this form of digital fashion had yet to evolve. My study for the dissertation introduced me to the vast field of digital social media and the absolute prevalence it has within the 21st century. This phenomenom is entwined with the fashion industry, evident not only by the billion dollar industry of online fashion retail, but via domestic cases where everyday people self-style their own ideal personas in an online forum. A single person sub-consciously becomes the model, advertiser, consumer and audience by participating in the current, ordinary practice of online socialising. My dissertation sought to observe this new trend from a first-hand, observational and theoretical perspective.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Womenswear Designer & Researcher EDUCATION prospective: Central Saint Martins // MA Fashion (Womenswear) London College of Fashion // BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear Copenhagen School of Design and Technology, Centre for Responsible Design // Innovating Sustainable Fashion (Summer School) Karlsruhe Academy of Arts and Design, D // Art Research and Media Theory, Exhibition Design and Curatorial Practice WORKING EXPERIENCE Hussein Chalayan // Assistant to Production Manager Peter Pilotto // Studio Assistant Podium 84 // Costume and Stage Designer I am inspired by the way we cherish fashion, and that despite its fast pace we strive for the achievement of timelessness, longevity and an ultimate moment and the truth. Celebrating identity and esteem and the beauty that lies within us all and outlasting heterogeneity is key to my practice as a designer. I have examined the cultural traditions of an almost forgotten world in the alpine uplands, researched alpine herdsmen whose handcrafted dress has remained unchanged for hundreds of years. They embody their heritage, beliefs and culture. Patina and traces of time enhance the emotional value of the garments and objects and create a respectful bond between the maker, wearer and the product - unlike in the handling of contemporary fashion. Inspired by the opulence and symbolism of these historical costumes, my collection is a celebration of their essence, searching for raw minimalism in their voluminous and excessively decorated shapes. Byungmun Seo recently compeleted his master from London college of fashion in Fashion design and technology. He was born and raised in Korea. After graduated 'Chungang University' in BA cloth and Textile in korea, he worked for 'Fnc Kolon' as fashion designer for mens fashion brand named 'Series' in Korea. Afterward he resigned from the fashion brand, he moved to London to join Master at London college of fashion. He is showcasing his A/W 2012 collection in a catwalkshow, 'Poemtry' at Victoria and Albert museum on 2, Feb. 2012 A/W 2012 collection of Byungmun Seo 'Interpretation of alter ego in unconsciousness' This collection is indicative of the concept through observation of two different selves of human. One is true self, other is repressed another self of human caused by external pressure in this modern society and this repressed self can be expressed through unconscious. In this unconscious, there seems to be no rules, moralities set by the society and are the only place were the repressed human’s desire can convey itself. And the energy of these repressed desires are coming into ‘substitute activities’ such as dreams and parapraxis, which are expressed in the unconscious. And these energies could also be transmitted into creative activities. As a result, these creative activities can be metaphor of human’s true desire. With this in mind, this collection was derived from these creative activities to find another self of pattern cutting and the concept of this collection can be seen in two methodologies. one is 'Alter ego of pattern cutting' to replace garment patterns into the place which is not supposed to belong to them and other one is 'Imaginarium of pattern cutting' to show juxtaposition of unfamiliar and unexpected meeting of garment patterns. these concepts create new silhouette and also give new meanings to garment pattern. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

•Statement A London College of Fashion Womenswear Design graduate, currently pursuing a successful career in Fashion Design. Specific interest in pattern cutting, sewing and tailored clothing. Highly motivated individual with an eye for detail and expertise in crochet, knitwear, print and surface embellishments as well as good skills in CAD programs such as Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop. An energetic individual with professional team leadership skills looking for challenging, creative graduate design opportunity from July 2012 •Antidote As a future fashion designer, global issues are very important to me and this is reflected in my work. Fashion has always played an important role in war and is constantly used in propaganda and advertisements. In today’s society we are under a constant and intense media bombardment about what is “accepted” and capitalism has turned fashion into a tool for mass production and fast consumption. Slowing down the process, I want to explore a more human alternative and concentrate on the essence of fashion which, for me, is fabrics, craft, and details. This minimal Autumn/Winter collection explores mobility within comfortable tailored clothes. I was inspired by a range of German Second World War uniforms that inspired the design and where the female becomes in a constant touch with masculine shapes. I also was inspired by Space Age images which led me to experiment and develop my own futuristic feel to the mood and fabrics where I experimented with using special machinery such as Tanaka. www.hellysaz.com www.facebook.com/hellysaz •Education 2009- Present BA Fashion Design & Technology Womens Wear The London College of Fashion, London Projects • Final Major Collection • Final Major Proposal • Craft and Technology exploring personal identity • Fashion and Sustainability • Tailoring Team Work • Denim and Jersey • The White Shirt 2007-2008 Diploma in Fashion Folio Central Saint Martin College of Art and Design, London 2006-2007 Diploma in Foundation Art and Design Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Carlisle, UK 2004-2006 HND Graphic Design Cumbria Institute of the Arts, Carlisle, UK • Design Experience 2011 May - September Tiger of Sweden Stockholm Design Assistance www.tigerofsweden.se 2010 June - October Charles Anastase London PA Assistance 2010 February - April Rui Leornades London Assistance http://www.ruileonardes.com/ • Employment 2008-2009 August - September The Home of Alfred Dunhill London Fashion Consultant 2008 June -September Massimo Dutti Knightsbridge Head Cashier/Supervisor •Achievements Awarded Sponsorship with zip supplier Albert Zip http://www.albertzips.com.tr/ British Fashion Council short list graduate Paper Print Editorial shoot Portfolio review http://www.britishfashioncouncil.com/ Shortlisted Nina De York Fashion Illustration Award 2012 LCF 2012 Press Runway Show Candidate Cutler and Gross Shortlisted student in collaboration with Cutler and Gross Launching Project 0734 cutlerandgross.com •Skills Adobe Creative: Illustrator, Photoshop, Indesign 2D to 3D realisation Indebt Researching & Referencing Drawing & Technical Drawings (hand rendered) Illustrations (Multi-Media) Illustrations (Photoshop) Collaging Technical drawings (CAD) Silk Screen Printing Digital Printing Knitting (Hand) Crotchet Weaving Embroidery Pattern Cutting (Flat & Stand Methods) Drafting patterns Toiling Tailoring Manufacture domestic and industry machinery Manufacture, specialising in Jersey Specialised Machinery: Tanaka Graphic Design Trend Predictions Styling Texture specialisation Hairdressing Makeup Image retouching Art Direction Language; Final Major Project: Nature's Geometry

BA (Hons) Fashion: Design & Technology (Top Up)

The concept for this project is based around natural geometry, hence the name Nature's Geometry, I have explored this concept through different patterns found in nature. This concept has been chosen so that the purpose of this could expose the beauty of nature and the importance of sustainability. I consider sustainability to be an important value in my design and making process, so this ensures the end product is streamlined and styled for substance. I am currently industry experience as I'm extremely eager to translate the skills I've gained on my course into the commercial realm. Please feel to contact me for any queries.

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

A small mens collection for Fall/Winter 2012-2013 which makes use of series of hand movement especially hug to express how the (dis) connection between people to people and the loneliness by my experience. Some keywords have become the main points of my collection. “Hugs”, “Communication”, “Interesting”, “Fun”, “flourishing”, “a bit implication of sex”, “comfort”, “to be protected”, “to be surrounded”, ‘to cherish" “warmth”, “memory”, "happiness", “childhood”, “lifetime”, ”Let go”, etc. I will keep using “hands” to be the key point of the collection. Interaction and communication are the action to express love and depart from loneliness between human beings. “Hands” are very figurative object to express this abstract idea. Moreover, I am going to make this small collection develops like a short story of life. The 6 outfits represent their own story and meaning respectively. In order to make people feel warm and hugged, some of the clothes would be padding and the hands (gloves) would be adding wad to make it looks puffy as childish soft toys. Some pieces are also to keep repeating a certain part (For example, sleeves) to make people feeling full and not alone or enlarge the scale by magnifying a certain part on clothes, which makes people feel a sense of relief. Everybody needs love, Don't you? Tidy Up The Commotion

BA (Hons) Fashion: Design Technology (Footwear Design)

The work reflects conceptual meanings behind a series of neatly organised objects in various visual manifestos. The main inspiration derives from the works of Ursus Werhli. Through mixing ordinary scattered elements into a minimal and controlled arrangement, there is a new perception of the original. It is a double take of imagery which becomes a personal documentation, similar creating a time capsule. Pieces are split apart or flatten out, only to construct an altered form. This is taking an existing object, transforming into a personal idea to the object. Decorative stitch details enhances the outlook of basic footwear silhouettes in the design. However, such details may have to be toned down to balance the shapes from the sole units. MDF takes form of the experimental stages of constructing the sole unit. The sections are made of series of laser cut shapes through the basic outline construction from Rhino. These panels that joins together creates the heel and other sole units. Acrylic is the final selection material wise as it is lightweight, fragile when it is in pieces but durable once they join up. Final Major Project:Chameleon 2012

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Womenswear)

Chameleon 2012 The idea of the collection is based around an amazing lizard, the' chameleon'. Chameleons have the unique ability to change their skin colour to camouflage their surroundings, which in turn protects them from their predators. This collection allows us to explore issues of identity. Particularly how we change ourselves in order to ‘fit in’ by constantly adapting to the majority, even though this might not be true to ourselves. The issues touched upon in this collection are an unspoken rule in the world- adapting and being camouflage with the majority is something we have to do in order to cope and succeed in the world. lingling.lee.keiling@gmail.com 07540447806

Fangy Big Clock Shirt and Fangy Leggings

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Surface Textiles)

Shireeka Devlin is an Irish womenswear and textiles designer based in London. She has recently graduated in BA (Hons) Degree in Surface Textiles for Fashion at London College of Fashion. She likes to create extremely wild and fun pieces that are wearable yet showstopping. She loves to use as much colour and print in her work as possible. Her silhouettes are inspired by menswear contrasted with really playful, feminine loud colours and insane prints inspired by everything in her daily life even if it’s something simple such as a poster of a monkey. Her work is all about the print and she believes in lots hand rendering and primary research mixed with CAD to make her artwork and patterns more personal and interesting. Her latest collection ‘Trippin' Over My Dreams’, explores and translates the view ‘Things are not always what they seem’, in a light – hearted and playful way. The collection is based on optical illusion art. Influenced by a variety of optical illusion techniques and subtle 80’s fashion, the collection is fun yet sophisticated. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

John Alexander Skelton ABSTRACT “ The Social problems that undoubtedly affect many working-class communities have come to define the ‘Chav’ caricature. Teenagers pushing strollers, yobs, and feckless adults: This is what Chavs are for many people.” (Jones, 2011 pg194) (British lion) is a project based upon ulterior fashion motives, secrecy and identity. Delving in to the depths of a working class style that is prevalent and thriving in many areas of Britain. Seen in extreme cases, as a uniform of which there is little alternatives. I wish to use this uniform as a basis for development and interpretation, transferring it into a fashion context. I wish to embody the scally/chav style in a more refined and revered for my AW/12 collection. jskelton44@gmail.com +447947119771

Look Book 11

PG Dip Pattern Design & Garment Technology

To me, technique itself is a state of art. It evolves over time. It is the unsung hero. It is beautiful as it is. People are beautiful as they are. Tailoring plays a major role in my work. I explore and apply different techniques in order to keep design elements, e.g. functional details and decorations, in harmony. Handcraft such as canvasing, embroidery and other forms of fabric manipulation are also revealed in the collection. But all of them exist because of function. The collection is also meant to push the boundary of men's tailoring. The silhouette is built on basic shapes, from short to long length and fitted bottom. It is minimal as I have strong will to emphasise that the content of clothes should be over its appearance. It is shown that details of garments are functional prior to be decorative or they coexist. The content of a garment speaks more. And the same rule applies to the people who wear them. A lot of people want to look good too much. But first they should focus on themselves, not the clothes. Clothes can only say limited things. People can do much more.
