BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology (Menswear)

Ema Ranger is a Menswear Designer with a strong focus on utility and sportswear. Designs are a modern take on nineties street wear trends and are designed to be worn by people of “the street”. Garments are designed to be unforgettable, impactful and interesting whilst also being well made, wearable and luxurious. The wearer should be able to take any garment into their wardrobe and work it with all of their favorite looks. Garments are often made from unconventional materials that wouldn’t usually be found within a collection of this kind, this is to try and break the boundaries between “street wear” and high end menswear. “Xcloose” 2012/13 This collection was based on the “street “and the aim was to express the voice of someone who would otherwise be left unheard. The garments were designed for people of the “street”, rather than using them purely for inspiration, and the idea is that they would be able to style key pieces within the collection to express how they feel. Innovative materials and processes have been combined with nineties sportswear inspiration to create an updated version of the original “street” trends. Graffiti and underground music also inspired the design of this trans- seasonal sporty collection for 2012/13. LOOKBOOK: LOOK 4 SHEEPSKIN TOP

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

ELLY CHENG 2012. ellissellielly@gmail.com The collection influence by emotion memories from my childhood, it is about the moments of my mother and grandmother spending time with me and my brother, while my father is away for work. The inspiration is about aprons and floral dresses which they daily wear, and its more about layering aprons and fluffiness shaping, softness texture. I have been explored to create in different texture, hand dyed sheepskin to bring life into the collection from the brightness color, hand dyed wadding and layered it to create shades of color and digital print of the nature softness, also mixed with a translucent silicone rubber sheet to create a contrast texture. Water and Illusion Photography

BA (Hons) Costume for Performance

I am motivated and dedicated, looking to explore sensory design and the relationship between technology and live performance. I have worked in film and television as an assistant designer and buyer. Over the last year I have worked closely with the designer Moritz Junge, assisting him on projects with Wayne McGregor's Random Dance, The Royal Opera House and The National Theatre. I am currently assisting Moritz as he designs for the Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony. In July 2011 I designed costumes for ATMA Dance Company’s performance of Sivaloka performed at the British Museum. This year I have focused my design on creating an immersive contemporary dance piece. “Amorphous” is an immersive contemporary dance piece which seeks to engage its audience through a heightened sensory environment. It touches on the concept of synesthesia. The piece is loosely based on Katie Mitchell’s play “Waves” which seeks to deconstruct Virginia Woolf’s novels “Moments of Being” and “The Waves”. “Amorphous”focuses on the movement of a small phylum of bioluminescent echinoderms: forms of sea life such as sea cucumbers, and sea urchins which may use their own light to attract or deter prey. Settled at first, they have to respond to a change in their environment which disorientates and disturbs them. The physical experience of the piece is enhanced by the vibrations from the music’s bass line which forms the reference points for the dancers: the remainder of the score may be heard through headphones, intensifying the auditory experience. Electro luminescent wire built into the costumes responds directly to this bass line, whilst a computer application created specifically for Amorphous by Hellicar and Lewis controls the speed of the projected film through response to the score. This intensifies the visual experience and enhances the link between the auditory and the visual. BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

Since graduating, Kiki have been working as a self-employed stylist and dressmaker. You can find her present work on www.kiki-tse.com, and Wordpress: http://kikitse.wordpress.com. This 2008 graduation collection is inspired by a summer vacation in Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico. The art of Pre-Columbia period, stretching across 50000 years and encompass the traditions of many different cultures, including the Olmecs, Mayas and Aztecs. Elements are taken from old sculptures, the beautiful architectures of Chichen Itza and radiant vibrant jewelled colours from the Mayans crafted suede throws. These ancient ingredients are developed into a modern colourful fashion sportswear. Everyday wear is utilised into contemporary exaggerated size, similar to the two iconic 80's fashion label Body Map and Katherine Hamnett. The symmetrical silhouettes are cut into strong simplistic shape, so easy to wear, with hand-crafted belts clinched to the waist giving it added movement of fullness. Fuchsia, emerald and turquoise, these three beautiful bright jewelled colours are deliberately chosen and contrasted with black to style into a block colouring scheme. Greatly influenced by Jill Sander's Spring/Summer '07 & '08 collection. Initial influences are details taken from old figurine sculptures, using the fatness and round shape from belts and developing this into a more approvable accessories wear. Continuation of this idea is carried through to stripes finishing along the neckline and armholes. Most of the garments are made in 100% wool jersey from all different weights, and hems are hand finished to make this collection into an upper market level. The square dress is the single piece made in silk crepe to keep the soft movement of the shape. A hand-punched leather belt is added around the waist through the fabric, to form drapes around the body. This piece is taken from a particular stone figurine wearing a short type of poncho with board bands running across its body. Maintaining the craft of Mexican art, various sized squares are used and carefully hand-punched onto pony skin leather. The sequences are taken from a wall with criss-cross formation from the ruins in Chichen Itza. Quilting is also used on the hood to represent the life of Temple of Kukulkan (El Castillo). BA (Hons) Cordwainers Footwear: Product Design & Development

My name is Ozge Barut, I am soon going to be graduating from the Cordwainers BA (Hons) in Footwear: Product Design and Development at London College of Fashion. I am from Istanbul and based in London. This has allowed me to develop a perspective focusing on the adaptability of multi cultural aspects on contemporary design. This also gives me easy access to the footwear manufacturing industry and relevant suppliers in Turkey. I design to achieve authenticity in a multi-cultural but global village. I believe in expressing this in the very details of my design. The tools I use to convey my message are colours, textures and materials. In this project I tried to express the cross-cultural detail through an inspiration born from the accessories used in old ottoman 'hamams" (turkish baths). These accessories mainly included traditional clogs, textural materials and cloths. I transformed a local, traditional and cultural element, into a modern fashionable and contemporary product where it can be used as a tool to express ones individuality through authentic details. V&A show look11

MA Fashion Design Technology, Menswear

There is a fresh interpretation in Ancient Egyptian Culture in Kay Kwok’s menswear collection-fake eternity. with the inspiration of Ancient Egyptian Religious and Cosmology-the mysterious story behind Sphinx, the relation between the process of mummy erosion and the system of Ancient Egyptian’s constellation like Ancient culture of Solar,Lunar & Stellar story. the Designer has combined the ideas to create prints by playing shades, light and flame aiming to pushing digital printing into a new area with the twist of classic menswear tailoring.
Printed Neoprene fabric is widely used on the collection because of its fleshy hand-feel.

with the uniqueness and freshness of his menswear , the collection was nominated for the Collection of The Year Award 2012. 'Tsz Fung Kwok, from Hong Kong, is not a stranger to having his talent recognised: he won the Hong Kong Design Talent Award upon graduating from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2009, and was nominated for the Top 15 Asian Fashion Designers (in the student category) by WGSN. For his final collection at the LCF’s MA Fashion Design Technology Menswear, Kwok displayed a range of garments featuring leather and neoprene textiles with bold choices of colour such as black, red, purple, orange and midnight blue hues. Despite claiming that his collection was inspired by Egyptian culture, it is clear that Kwok owes a great deal to the work that Thierry Mugler developed in the late 1980s. What separates Kwok from Mugler, however, was the way in which Kwok used digital printing to generate spray paint patterns with moments of bold starburst zigzags, colour grading, and tie dye effects. The collection also included solid black patent hats that brought to mind traditional raincoat caps. Created using 3D technology, the oversized hats contrasted with the sharp silhouettes of Kwok’s suits and overcoats to create a playful effect.'' thestyleexaminer.com Recenlty, Kay Kwok name as the Winner of the international fashion contest: 20TH of Mittelmoda Fashion Award with his graduation collection look book by Daniel James & Julian Gregory @ F.TAPE For any inquiry please contact Kay Kwok at Kaykwokfashion@gmail.com Kaykwoktf@msn.com http://www.facebook.com/KayKwok.London or www.Kaykwok.com Twitter: Tszfungkwok
