BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Womenswear

"Never too old to play dress up" was inspired by memories of my grandmother and her eclectic style, love of colour, print, texture and all things maximal. From these memories I began an investigation into age and it's effect on style, identity and image. This took me on a journey of exploration into some inspiring characters for whom despite their age everyday is an opportunity to play dress up. To be expressive visually and push boundaries that come with age and stereotype. To have the confidence and audacity to be completely themselves and only themselves, why be anything else? Fashion to me is the strongest way of unleashing an expression. I am always fascinated by the overlapping of art, music, architecture and fashion. My style is defined by intriguing and futuristic silhouettes combined with surreal expression. Drawing inspiration from the nostalgia and power of expression of contemporary gothic art and the futuristic approach in process drawings of 'Zaha Hadid`s' architecture, I have attempted to create a collection with balanced chaos of asymmetry and structure.

Oksana Anilionyte I would like to thank Saga Furs for a wonderful sponsorship. Collection is based on idea of a soft control. The collection is an investigation into inter-relation of minimalism and modern women. I found my inspiration in Michelangelo Antonioni films L’Avventura (1960), La Notte (1961), Eclipse (1962) and Il deserto rosso (1964). His films concentrate on how the modern world influence people and their feelings. Personal feelings, doubts, moods are substance of the films. The works and processes of Robert Morris, Tony Cragg and Daniel Arsham sculptures and abstract painting of Dale Frank served as the initial inspiration for the silhouette, colour, texture and details of the collection. The aim was to mix different techniques and inspirations to reach new and unexpected levels. I embraced the complexities and simplicities by different techniques to reinvent a version of femininity. Robert Morris felt sculptures led to create new ways of using seams to express the fluidity of line. The collection is a lot about the lines that are so pure, so clear, that they convey simplicity in their perfection. The purity is combined with texture that comes from tufting embroidery and soft fur to create a new level of feelings that garments create when touched. A dialogue between time and timelessness runs through the progression of the minimalist aesthetic which is felt in fluidity of seam lines. The collection incorporates a range of luxury fabrics (cashmere, wool, silk, fur, leather) to examine the balance between textures, silhouette and a purity of line. BA (Hons) Fashion Jewellery

Maria is a London based fashion jewellery designer, who graduated The London College of Fashion (2013) with a BA in Fashion Jewellery. Originally Maria took a foundation course at Central St Martin's in Art and Design, where she intended to embark on a career in Women's wear. However after some mentoring and self realization, Maria discovered that her true passion and talents were in jewellery design. During her time spent at LCF Maria developed her own style of design based on organic life and shapes taken from nature, combined with a mystical element of life forms from outer space. This unique combination led to a creative final project which she is very proud to present. Through experimentation Maria learned to use digital technology such as rapid prototyping, which enabled her to create the pieces that she had envisaged. Maria's graduate collection was inspired by nature and a curiosity of what lies beneath in the ocean together with the same curiosity for what exists beyond planet Earth. The final pieces are based on a mythical sea creature which was made with black lacquered plastic and Swarovski crystals. email: mariasokolyanskaya@gmail.com

Mood board

BA (Hons) Fashion Design Technology: Menswear

This project is a redefinition of the gentleman in the 21st century, to include aspects of masculinity that have been excluded in the conventional definition, such as gay subculture, and the wild, playful desires of the boy child. Inspired by the post-colonial expression of the tweed suite in traditional South African isiXhosa initiation ceremony, I explore the possibilities to overcome the tensions between tradition and contemporary expression that are experienced by young men everywhere. Having direct historical reference to the British Tweed aesthetic, as well as the traditional cultural elements of African aesthetic, I attempt to reflect these tensions, and possibilities for transformation in my collection that plays with colour, texture, proportion, and the artisanal deconstruction and rendition of the tweed tailored suite. All the tweed suiting I designed and wove as part of the project and created them in collaboration with an artisanal tweed mill in London, called London Cloth. The research for this project used a variety of different methods that include, but not limited to, site visits to South Africa, interviews, and reference materials from historical archives and libraries in South Africa and the UK. http://timothywangmenswear.blogspot.co.uk http://timothywangmenswear.tumblr.com contact: z.wang29@fashion.arts.ac.uk timking.wang@gmail.com

Namoi Oman is a young designer inspired by all things Powerful. Namoi Oman's final collection is a refreshing take on a new subculture of the 21st century, inspired by a combination of culture and mood. The A/W 2013 collection is stimulated by the unseen perverse world of secret societies; the mood of the collection mirrors the theme of our shadowed governments. From this, fabrics have been carefully selected to juxtapose and embody the idea of transparency and opaqueness, which symbolizes the things we choose to expose, and the things we choose to cover up. The excessive, rebellious attitude of the collection stems from the British subculture of Punk, the dark colour pallet represents this. The body is only comfortable if the mind confirms this. Namoi Oman designs each garment to ensure the mind feels powerful which in turn makes the woman exude power. MA Strategic Fashion Marketing

MA RESEARCH Abstract Location-based services (LBS) offer immense potential in terms of targeting individual customers based on their preferences and location. The personalized service is opening a whole new chapter in brand communication especially with the meteoric rise of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. Packaged as a location-based application (app) for mobile devices, LBS is becoming increasingly ubiquitous and advantageous for customers and companies alike. But, consumer privacy concerns exist which are inhibiting adoption. The purpose of this research is to build a framework to predict factors that influence consumer adoption of location-based apps for fashion brands for a particular personalization system, namely push messages. The framework considers technology acceptance factors, together with information disclosure factors and their combined effect on intention to adopt. To this end, an extensive literature review was conducted to formulate the proposed model for LBS adoption, which was empirically tested through a structured consumer survey and regression equation modeling, supported by focus group interviews to validate results and obtain rich insights. The findings show that among technology acceptance factors perceived enjoyment has a stronger effect on attitude than usefulness and among information disclosure factors, perceived risk outweighs the benefits. Personalisation is seen as a key benefit while overall intention is influenced more by technology factors than privacy issues. Thus suggesting significant implications for brands, developers, service providers and marketers alike. The research makes a significant contribution to existing literature on LBS by enhancing our understanding of adoption factors and also provides a starting point for further research into branded location-based apps or services such as m-commerce through branded apps. About me Economics (Hons) graduate with substantial prior experience (over 8 years) in brand marketing and advertising in international markets (London, Dubai, Delhi). Returned to education to pursue my love of fashion brands, marketing and digital through the MA Strategic Fashion Marketing programme at LCF, to learn new skills and competitively position career within the fashion/digital industry landscape.
